' Manoir' is an elegant yet comfortable Maison bourgoise which offers ideal accommodation for a small adult or family group to enjoy spacious, relaxing surroundings. It is perfectly located near to Nuits St Georges and the legendary Burgundy Wine Trail . Built in the 18th century by the Count de Balon , the main rooms have feature high ceilings with oak beams and a great feeling of light from the tall twin aspect windows . The 2000 square metre gardens are walled, south -facing and secluded with many places to sit and sunbathe, read and relax. There is an outdoor pool area with a terrace and a barbecue area for al fresco evenings. If you prefer eating out there is an outstanding choice of restaurants of high quality and reasonable price within a short drive. Located at just a few minutes from exit 1 on the A31 we are at the centre of a motorway hub which means that you can plan a great programme of visits yet minimize the time spent travelling.
We just had a wonderful stay at Petit Manoir. The house is in a small hamlet near Nuits st Georges and is a beautiful example of Burgundian architecture . The buildings are spacious, well equipped and a great place for a "foodies" holiday or equally for a family . The gardens are excellent and work really well for outside eating or just enjoying the sun and pool .
There are lots of places to visit and we discovered the Abbaye de Citeau where the monks make cheese which was a real find . We enjoyed wine tasting (and buying !) all the way down the Cote and into the Maconnais . Beaune and Nuits are really easy to visit and a trip to Dijon repays the effort . Take a train at Nuits for a stress free day !
Mike & Hiroko were excellent hosts and are incredibly discreet while being available if needed for advice and ideas on restaurants and places to visit . Of particular note for foodies ; Lameloise at Chagny is a 3 star Michelin which is a truly amazing experience
whilst our long term favourite is Le Vendangerot at Rully which is a true Burgundy experience and never disappoints.
The house and grounds were just as described, very tranquil and spacious and the pool was very clean. Our hosts were ideal, there if needed but otherwise left us on our own. The local village, Nuits St Georges (8mins by car), had several good restaurants and Beaune (20mins) was beautiful with a wide variety of restaurants.
A thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing two week stay.
Our family spent 2 very nice weeks here in the summer. The house is very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and plenty of seating for eating and relaxing both indoors and out. It is situated in a very quiet rural setting but only 10 minutes from Nuits St Georges, which has a good number of very nice and well priced restaurants. It is well sited between Beaune and Dijon which are impressive mediaeval towns with lots of shops and restaurants and of course wine caves for tasting and buying the excellent wine grown all along the Cote. Mike and Hiroko are very helpful and around for advice and suggestions. We would highly recommend the Manoir!
Mike and Hiroko's petit manoir is a lovely place to stay. Not only are the furnishings and decor splendid, the amenities are very adequate. Six of us stayed (couples and friends in our fifties) and we found the location and layout of the house to be perfect for a relaxing holiday. We ate at 2 restaurants in Nuits St George and they were both excellent. Mike also suggested places to visit - lots of wineries, chateaux, lovely villages - all within easy accessibility during our week's stay. And we were also able to spend many enjoyable evenings at the long table in the dining room drinking and eating the local produce! Definitely would return and would recommend it to friends.
A lovely stay in a charming and spacious house - exactly as pictured on the internet. Our hosts were very helpful and welcoming and the house was very comfortable and well equipped. The area is beautiful, with no shortage of places to eat and drink - ideal for visiting Dijon and Beaune - not forgetting the vineyards! Definitely a place we will return to.
We stayed for one week with 8 persons in this beautiful Manor House near Nuits-St-Georges. It is situated in a rural, absolutely quiet area, but on the other hand you reach many Burgundian highlights easy and fast (Dijon, Beaune, Autun etc.). The house is most charming, with a big and well equipped kitchen, a beautiful, large dining- and sitting room with a wonderful view out of the huge “French windows” into the big garden and the meadows on the other side. The interieur is tasteful with many nice and charming details. The garden with an old stock of trees offers different pretty places to sit – in the sun or in the shadow – and we used the pool daily which was very refreshing after a hot day.
There is a big Carrefour which provides you with everything you need at the first roundabout at Nuits-St-Georges less than 10 min by car.
Our host Mike was most helpful and friendly and fulfilled even our extra wishes with kindness. We all enjoided our stay at “Petit Manoir) very much!
We rented the house to be able to explore Burgundy and enjoy good food and wine together with friends.
We were very impressed by the photos on the website but when we arrived the house was better than we were expecting . An excellent house and location in Burgundy for our adult group of family and friends . The gardens were ideal for summer dining outdoors.
The location is very calm and the sun can be enjoyed all day.
We had two great weeks in the house and can warmly recommend it. Excellent house with friendly and helpful owners.
' Manoir' has a quiet village location close to the vast forest of Citeau with woodland trails just a few minutes walk from the front door. The vineyards of the Nuits and Cote d'Or lie to the west. A recommended boulanger visits most mornings while supermarket shopping is a short 5 minute drive. The hypermarkets and malls of Dijon are only 20 minutes north while 20 minutes to the south is the historic wine capital of Beaune with its picturesque streets, antique shops, museums and restaurants. Attractions in the immediate area include Clos de Vougeot ( the most popular visitor site in the region) and the Domaines of Romanee Conti ( the most expensive wine in the world). A few minutes away at Nuits St Georges are the Cassisium ( museum and tasting centre for cassis ) and the Imaginarium ( winery visit and tasting centre for cremant , the local champagne . And of course the villages and winemakers of the newly listed World Heritage site are located on the Route de Grands Cru from Dijon to south of Beaune .There are several Michelin starred restaurants within easy access and a vast choice of more affordable places to suit every budget. We are happy to make recommendations for our guests.
