About Loic de ROCQUIGNY

I love my city and my region and I would be glad to help you discover the best spots.

You just tell me your interests; I am particularly good at wine, restaurants and visits. I can show you all the maps of current exhibitions. I will be glad to receive you.

Loic de ROCQUIGNY purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Loic de ROCQUIGNY chose Hôtel de Ville - Quinconces

I bought this apartment when I got retired because of its central location. The charm of this small building of the 17th century made me fall in love.

After some work (everything recently refurbished) the dream came true. I let the lessees enjoy it as I wait for my children to come back from abroad.

What makes this apartment unique

It is located at the high part of the elegant Saint Catherine Street, far from the bustling and accessible to the sunlight. The centre of Bordeaux is at your feet; the Grand Theatre is just 100 m away, the Tourny fairways, the Bourse square, the restaurants, and the shops. Located in the very heart of the city, you can go anywhere by foot; the bicycle station is two steps away for bicycle lovers. If you prefer tramway, there are two stations where you can join the crowd. If you come by car, there is a parking 100 m away (ask the owner for more information)

The building has been rated four stars by the Tourist Office.

Being in Bordeaux

  • 4 of 5

Staying at St. Catherine was truly being in Bordeaux. Bordeaux is in a renovation of sorts. The pedestrian only street in front was bordered by the top chic shops found in Paris. Set off the side streets were countless charming brasseries and bistros that were like semi hiddinned gourmet delights. Monuments abounded.

The location was fabulous and made us happy that we had been working out- the stair climb will definitely keep you in shape! R. Carrasco

Very nice apartment in the heart of central Bordeaux.

  • 4 of 5

Awesome apartment. We only stayed one night but the location is amazing and VERY quiet considering you are on St Catherine. The place is exactly like the pictures. And you could stay there two weeks and not eat at the same place twice within easy walking distance. Close to the river as well. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely Apartment in a Very Central Location.

  • 3 of 5

41 Rue St Catherine is located above a shop in the heart of Bordeaux and therein lies it’s advantage and disadvantage. Cars are banned in much of central Bordeaux and our GPS could not find a way to the carpark. But if you want to be where the retail and dining action is, then you couldn’t find a better location. The downside is access, both getting your luggage from the carpark a couple of blocks away, and getting it up the 72 steep steps to the apartment on the third floor.

We never got to meet Loic, he outsourced our welcome to a friend who met us over an hour after we arrived in town.

The apartment is at the back of the building so you do not get any street noise. Once inside you have quite spacious accommodation, with the exception of the bed. We chose this apartment partly as the bedding was described as a large double bed. Large it is not, just a standard size. The shower recess is also built for small people. The furnishings are modern and tasteful and the kitchen is well equipped.

Be aware that leaving the windows open is an invitation for the mozzies to come and serenade you during the night.

If you are a fit, medium sized person, travelling with little luggage and no car, this apartment is ideal.

Owner's Response: Your appreciation and your comments are very different from past customers before you ..... The apartment is at the heart of the city and it very very quiet, very clean and modern with all the comfort, it is in a charming building "historic monument" the parking is 200 meters and for three years it is rented without interuption. I was desolated not be able to get myself but sometimes I have an appointment or arrival times changing, or me Océanne are punctual for arrivals when the information is correct ... I have several apartments in Bordeaux and always do everything for you to have a great time

Best location in Bordeaux you can find.

  • 4 of 5

This apartment is the best possible location in Bordeaux that you could possibly find. Right on Rue St. Catherine near Rue de La Devise. We had GREAT customer service from Loic!! He picked us up at the airport (for a fee less than the taxi ride) and called a taxi to pick us up for our return at 4AM. He provided excellent local restaurant recommendations within walking distance. Unfortunately, we were there on Monday and Tuesday, and many things were closed on Mondays, as is true in many cities. We loved being able to walk to the Place de la Bourse and Water Mirror, the Aquitaine Museum, the Grand Theatre area, the Jean Moulin museum (you must be able to read French for this), Quincones, the Modern Art Museum, St. Andre Cathedral, and all of the shopping in the downtown area. Our favorite place was the Bar A Vin, which offers 1/2 glass sizes of a variety of Bordeaux wines for your tasting pleasure. We went twice during our 2.5 days! The apartment had good wifi, and TV service.

For us, this apartment was perfect, because of the location, but for others, I would rate it a 4 (or 4.5 if possible) for the following reasons. It is very nice, and perfectly adequate, but not luxurious, which is what I would expect for a 5 star. We had no problem with the 3 very long flights of stone stairs, but some folks might.

We would absolutely recommend this apartment to friends with those few caveats! Thank you Loic!!

All comfort, for some days or weeks in our wonderful region.

Loïc's Tips!

Our region is plenty of beautiful spots:

• The outstanding places: The lavish Garonne quays, where you cannot miss the Sunday bio market in the Chartrons district, and where you can taste oysters, and white wine sitting facing the Garonne, just like all the locals, it is very nice and not expensive (in front of the CAPC in the map)

• The 'face' of Bordeaux, the best view point in the quays is the right boardwalk (lovely shaded promenade). Try l'Estacade restaurant (you should book in advance and request the closest table to the Garonne with view of the city), stunning sunsets and views of the quays.

• If you come by car, you can visit the small village of the left bank (one of which is Quinsac, 'my' village) which are lovely, often on the top of green hills and covered with vines, exquisite... or those of the Bourg sur Gironde region, very pleasant, and there are savouring days at the tourist office, even on a small boat that sands in the coast of Bordeaux, still at Bourg sur Gironde, it is a very pleasant boat trip on the estuary (with savouring also).

• If you want to get out of Bordeaux, you have to go to St. Emilion, a wonderful village with lavish promenades. There are many people in summer, and for those who do not like wine, the local speciality is macaron. Try it!

• You also have to see the Arcachon Bay, the Dune of Pilat (a must see. It is crowded on summertime.)

In Bordeaux you can also:

• See the sunrise from the stone bridge.

• Take a VCUB bike to discover Bordeaux (not expensive and practical)

• Taste the 'Cannelé' pastry (local speciality)

• Be amazed by the futuristic Palace of Justice

• Take the tramway and go to the Bastide district and to the botanical garden to discover rare species.

• Have a drink with friends (CIVB bar) just in front of the Bordeaux tourist office (it is a must; it is great, convenient and cheap).

• Admire the Water mirror effect at the sunset, at the Place de la Bourse.

If you fancy a visit to a wine-producing castle or if you just want to know more about wine, I can introduce you to a friend that is a wine passionate and can take you around the castles or organize a wine tasting evening for you. You just tell me.
