About Julie & Jory Kaplan

Jory & Julie 'Jewlz' Kaplan: Jory and I work in the medical field in Redding, CA. We escape to Ashland as often as we can to relax. We enjoy quiet time and travel with our children. We love to walk around Lithia Park and go to the theatre with our family. We cherish older homes and are very excited to own a 1900 Historic Ashland Home and to share it with you.

Julie & Jory Kaplan purchased this house in 2011

Why Julie & Jory Kaplan chose Ashland, OR

We hope you enjoy our lovely Victorian Vacation home! This home has drawn our attention for years, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was called the 'Coleman-Mulit' home, and was built in 1900 by Mr. John Coleman.

The Register states, 'John Coleman purchased this lot from G.W. Gillette in 1899 and soon thereafter the local newspaper noted, 'John Coleman will immediately build on his Church Street lot. He plans a substantial residence and foundations are already underway.' {Ashland Tidings, 22-Jun-1899, 3:1} Coleman, operated a canning plant in Ashland with his brother. He sold this house in 1904. In 1906 Lloyd and Gertrude Mulit purchased the property, which they retained as their residence until 1924. The Coleman-Mulit House is a large two-story vernacular ell with a projecting front gable, accented by a full-height projecting bay. Modest Queen-Anne detailing is evident in the complex form, eave bracketry and the 'pent' roof'

What makes this house unique

Luxurious amenities throughout this home. Advantages of renting an entire home:: Unlike a B&B or hotel, you have an entire Victorian home to yourself! Cook in the full kitchen or walk around the corner to enjoy amazing restaurants and attractions.

Location

Car: not necessary

We had a wonderful time in Ashland staying in this beautiful Victorian home. It was unfortunate that we had the big heat wave while we were here but we managed to work around it and everything was lovely. We will definitely stay here again.

Lovely home near downtown Ashland.

We have stayed here many times. Love the house and location. The only drawback is for people that cannot easily get up and down stairs.

Comfortably, cozy, and convenient!

  • 5 of 5

Owners Julie and Jory have put a lot of time and love into this house right on the edge of everything in Ashland.

This was the second time my husband and I spent time at the Victorian Secret. The living room is cozy. I loved the warm glow of the floor lamps for reading in the evening. While we didn't do much cooking while we were there (Ashland has so many restaurants to choose from) we found the kitchen well stocked with both cooking implements and essentials. (Thanks for having real sugar!)

We slept in the Amethyst Room. It was comfortable, and I loved the light filtering in through the leaves of the chestnut tree. With so many windows and two skylights, the house had a light airy feel to it.

It is located on a fairly quiet street, just two blocks from Lithia Park, and a 5-10 minute (depending on your pace) from OSF. (Shakespeare theaters)

I would highly recommend staying here for a romantic weekend, or an adventure with friends!
