Charming property on the hillside, of several construction periods, over time with extensions. Part of this winegrower house is made of freestone, and the other part is troglodytic, overall allowing a natural comfort and well-being: soundproofing and air-conditioning are guaranteed by construction materials like freestone (the stone of the Loire Valley castles), slate and wood everywhere. The courtyard is fenced by walls, giving privacy and peace, the swimming pool and the leisure equipments will give you the relaxing stay in summer so sought after by adults and children, families and friends. During winter, the large fireplace will warm reunions and dinners in the dining room.
Lovely cottage to stay at full of character. Pool with an alarm was very good for our toddler. Lovely area to walk about in the grape vines. Good day out kayaking on the Loire. If you get a chance to go and see Freddie next door he does an excellent wine tasting and tour, very reasonable prices on his wine which is outstanding especially the sparking rose.
I hope we can come back some day with the whole family. Thank you Muriel.
We have just returned home after spending a week in Noizay at Gite Coeur de Loire. We were on a family holiday seven adults and four children and we have the most wonderful time. The pool and gardens, where we spent most of our time, had everything we needed. The situation is very quiet with access to local towns - the pretty Amboise being one of them, where we had a meal on our last night. If we visit the Loire region again in the future, we would certainly come back, and maybe spend a little longer in this charming house.
We spent a fabulous week in this charming, calm site, where there was a lot of space inside. All 12 persons felt well - age from 15 months to 76 years. We enjoyed the wonderful vast garden where we could find both sun and shadow and where we could relax or play football, ping-pong or do other activities. We used the pool extensively. One of the children - 5 years old - learned to swim there. We were enchanted by the country village, where we bought fresh croissants and different baguettes every morning in the épicerie and where we could buy wine nearby in a cave. We made excursions with our personal cars to the châteaux with their parks and the cities, such as Amboise with the highly interesting Clos Lucé, Villandry and Chambord with its historical spectacle. We visited the town Tours several times, also at night. We were lucky, because of the night spectacle, a sort of Son et Lumière on the front of the church. Muriel Gardillou, the owner, was very reliable, discreet and friendly and she gave us tips what to do. Sometimes, she sent us information about interesting things to happen in Tours.
My wife, three daughters (ages 14, 12 and 8) and I had a wonderful 6 night stay this spring in Amboise. The location was wonderful. We took short drives to many different chateaus and small towns scattered throughout the Loire Valley. We were able to enjoy all of charm of provincial France, including wonderful (and affordable) local wine, fantastic cheese from the farmer's market and the hospitality of the locals (even though any of us barely speak any French).
The home itself looks as it does in the photos. We found it very unique as it really is carved into the side of a mountain. That did keep it nice and cool, although a bit moist as well. The weather wasn't quite warm enough in early June for us to swim in the pool much (although my daughters took a few quick swims), but it was still nice to sit next to when enjoying afternoon wine and cheese. The sleeping areas are divided on each side of the living area, so if you are traveling with another family you can each have some privacy.
Muriel was a wonderful host and was very responsive to our questions and needs before and after the trip. We forgot a toy helicopter that we had purchased in London and she was able to find it (I had hidden it under a bed) and mailed it to us quickly. Her local manager, Lydie, was also very sweet and helpful. She did some grocery shopping for us before we arrived and, for a reasonable price, prepared two meals for us (wine included of course). This was especially helpful on our arrival day as we knew we would be getting in late and everyone would be tired and hungry. It was so nice to have a homemade French meal waiting for us!
Overall we had a wonderful time and would love to return.
Merci Muriel and Lydie!
This property was just wonderful, more beautiful in person than in the photos- and the photos are just stunning! I am so glad we had the opportunity to stay here and recommend coming here highly. Next time, we'll go for summer and use the wonderful pool!
Encore merci !
Property located in the heart of the Loire Valley Castles area, within the Val de Loire, entered into the World Heritage List by Unesco. It is a site protected for its fauna and flora, and particularly sought after for its heritage. Close to Tours, Amboise and Blois, 3 royal castles emblematic of Val de Loire, the property is also in the heart of a vineyard labelled AOC (Controlled Designation of Origin) Vouvray and AOC Montlouis. Diversity of activities: visit of the Loire and Cher Valley Castles, the parks and gardens of Villandry in Angers, sailing on the royal river.
Life is sweet in the 'garden of France', as we used to call this region, and the weather is favourable to the discovery of its gastronomy and vineyards: Montlouis, Vouvray, Touraine Amboise, Azay de Rideau, Chinon and Bourgueil... as much vineyards as typical villages. The department includes a few villages rated as the prettiest of France: Candé-Saint-Martin, Crissay-sur-Manse and Montrésor. The property, partially troglodytic, is located on the hillside, overhanged by a vineyard: contemporary equipment in a setting of authenticity! One hour away by road from the Futuroscope and Center Park Sologne theme parks.
