Very well appointed luxurious villa . Bedrooms with comfortable Kingsize bed and private ensuite . Well equipped kitchen with coffee maker , toaster , microwave, gas cooktop , wall oven , dishwasher. Linen all included . Laundry room with washing machine and dryer. Iron and ironing board. Private swimming pool , spacious sunbathing deck , great views of the mountain and the beach. Walking distance to beach ( 5 min ).
We were a party of 4. From the moment we walked in the doors we couldn't believe our eyes. Stunning Caribbean views. The whole home opens up to a wonderful covered patio. Comfortable relaxing furniture to enjoy every sunrise and sunset. Wonderfully clean bedrooms to bathrooms to a well stocked kitchen. Friendliest people on the island. Gorgeous quiet beaches. From Yvette, the property manager to John Gage, who we rented our car from and the sweet Josaphine who cleaned the home, were the most helpful wonderful team. Jay & Charley w the Montserrat Dive Center are extremely pleasant, fun and professional. You must look them up for any underwater adventure.
We had never been to the island, we had such a blast exploring. I highly recommend Montserrat and this lovely home for a wonderful Caribbean adventure.
Visited for 1 week July 10 to July 17, 2016. As we entered the "Avalon” property I was immediately impressed with the strong breeze from the ocean and seeing the ocean in my sight. Entrance was an overwhelming relaxing feeling that just took my breath away. My family took a walk around and was enamored by the layout. My teenage son said "good taste mom" I advised him to give that compliment to Kate- the Owner. The amenities were great, very roomy and comfortable, like the news, so larger TV screen could be useful. There is no air conditioning, but there is an uncompromisingly indulging breeze from the ocean, and always a view. Yes at times during middle of day it may be a little warm even with use of ceiling fans, so maybe intermittent air conditioning may be warranted. Otherwise, during the late afternoon to evening the breeze can be breathtakingly ongoing, exuberating and refreshing. You definitely get a good night sleep with the trade winds blowing in while sleeping. The place is fully stocked, no need to bring anything except buy food at Rams supermarket for Barbequing nearby. I felt like I was in a home that I just wanted to stay in and retire immediately. A whirlwind of fun and never-ending comfort! Fun Beach Bar Nearby and walking trails for daily exercise. Iguanas came to see us daily which the kids enjoyed. They don't bother you at all. Yvette, the caregiver was extraordinarily professional, and attentive to our needs, she was the BEST!!!I I really enjoyed my stay at the Avalon immensely, will have no doubts about re-visiting in the future. I wished I could have stayed longer. LOVED IT!!!!
If I were to design the perfect house layout for a home on the sea, this would be it. A huge amount of outdoor space under roof. Both the dining area and the living room/family room are outside, under roof overlooking the pool and the water. The home is spotless and very well maintained. In addition, the locals are some of the friendliest people I have met in any country. If you are looking for a place you can go and get away from it all, this is it.
The photographs do not do it justice. This is a phenomenal villa. The airy bedrooms, the outside living space, the proximity to beaches and restaurants, the tranquility, the view....what a view!!!
All this and more made for an absolutely stellar two weeks. Many thanks to the very informative and attentive owner for allowing us the pleasure of enjoying Avalon.
Lacking anything else, we chose Avalon based on the photos, and were not disappointed. With a garden & patio literally perched on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean, Avalon might have the best location on Montserrat. There's a 270 degree view from Soufriere to Redonda, with sunset dead center. There's a sizable tribe of Iguanas in the garden (don't fret, they're vegetarian and much appreciate a donation of lettuce) and although you may mock, it's possible to spend many fascinated hours Iguana-watching. We have a large memory card of Iguana photos.
The house has one of the best outdoor living spaces we have seen in travels to 30+ countries, perhaps 2500 sq ft/250 sq mt. Partly roofed, partly not, with great, comfy "slob-out" furniture. There are abundant ceiling fans, although we hardly needed them -- Avalon is situated perfectly to catch the trade winds, which blow most of the time, and we never felt uncomfortably warm. Plan on living outside; you'd be crazy not to.
Inside, the house is nicely appointed. The bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and are decently sized, light & bright with screened and shuttered windows, ceiling fans and 2 of the 3 bedrooms have amazing views. What you see in the online photos is fairly close to what you see lying in bed.
The kitchen is reasonably sized and well equipped. Montserrat is not a hub of tourist activity, which alone makes it worth visiting. But it also means that dining options are limited and therefore we cooked-in a lot, for which the kitchen was perfectly adequate. Conveniently, Avalon is located maybe a mile from what's probably the best supermarket on the island, Rams. Anyone who's spent time on small islands will be pleasantly surprised by some of the products that they carry, and equally unsurprised by the products that they don't.
The owner is truly delightful and attentive. She's available day & night and did everything possible to make our stay exceptional, including a tour of the island and introductions to local residents, who made the trip quite special. We felt more connected to the island than almost anywhere else that we've been.
We stayed for 12 days and I can't think of a single problem other than drinking too many umbrella drinks while gazing at the view. We'll be returning, and if the owner ever felt insanely charitable, we'd buy the place. If Avalon doesn't make you go "Wow!" then you have no pulse and it's quite possible that your soul has been surgically removed.
We were a party of six, including two grown up children and their partners, hence looking for a home from home to suit a variety of holiday expectations. This was our first visit to Montserrat though we have visited numerous islands in the Caribbean, and we specifically chose to visit this idyllic island over the St. Patrick’s holiday period.
On arrival late in the evening after a long a tiring journey from the UK, Dyann was there to greet us and was so warm and welcoming. We were wowed by the interior of the villa as she showed us around. The décor looked even better than the pictures on the website; in addition, Dyann had ensured the fridge, freezer and larder were well stocked with even more goods than we had requested, which was so thoughtful. But we were not able to appreciate the spectacular views until first light. What a view! The word stunning doesn’t even seem adequate; it just took our breath away as it will yours! On waking each morning in the master bedroom, you see the view without even leaving your bed. A must is seeing the sunrise and sunset from the viewing platform, totally unforgettable.
The open plan layout of the villa, ceiling fans and the cross winds through the house kept the inside at an ambient temperature. Our fears about the lack of air conditioning were unfounded.
Avalon is in Old Towne a quiet peaceful part of the Island. The Beach Bar, a short drive from the villa is just a fun place to relax, enjoy a beer and some good food. Olverston House, with its rich history, nice cuisine and a warm welcome is also nearby.
Dyann’s team were friendly, helpful and always willing to have a chat telling you more about the island and its history. Dyann was always contactable by phone or email for advice, help and useful ideas or suggestions.
Not if, but when we return to the island Avalon will be our first choice for a place to stay and we could not recommend it highly enough.

A deposit of 30 % of the total price is due at the time of booking. Upon receipt of your bank wire you will receive written confirmation of your reservation. Final payment is due 60 days before departure. For bookings made less than 60 days previous to departure, full payment is due at the time of booking. Minimum one week stay, with additional days or longterm rental considered.
