About Lisa and Nick Petosa

We are the Petosa family of Manlius, New York, an eastern suburb of Syracuse. We are a family of four and have lived in the Syracuse area our entire life. We are conveniently located 90 minutes away from our summer home.

Lisa and Nick Petosa purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Lisa and Nick Petosa chose Cape Vincent

After searching for many years only In the Thousand Islands region, we finally found the summer home of our dreams which had it all, It was located in the most picturesque and beautiful area that we have ever seen, and the home, a spacious waterfront home that contains two homes in one! Located on prime Lake Ontario waterfront adjacent to the house, not across the road like many other properties that we viewed!

What makes this cottage unique

We fell In love with the home after viewing It for the first time and purchased It the same day after stepping Inside and viewing Its uniqueness. This was the first lakehouse that we have ever seen with six bedrooms, two baths, two kitchens, two family rooms, and two porches! Two complete homes in one, It was our dream of being able to have all of our family visit us while still maintaining our privacy!

Best Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The pictures are impressive, but the reality was even better. This bright, spacious cottage had everything that we needed for our family of 12. The bedrooms in the larger unit were big, clean and bright. The bathrooms were newer and the showers were good size. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, plates, cups and utensils to cook big meals. The smaller cottage was just the right size for 4 people and worked well when the youngest needed a quiet area to take a nap. We especially loved playing games on the adjoining screened in porches and relaxing by the campfire. The kids had fun riding the bikes and swimming in the lake. Luckily, they remembered to bring water shoes because the lake floor is rocky. It was windy during our week, so we only got out in the row boat once, but it was nice to have that opportunity. There were maps and brochures in the cottage to help us locate sites in the area, so we visited Tibbetts Lighthouse in Cape Vincent, then Alexandria Bay and toured Boldt Castle. We took a fishing charter in Clayton and even found a cute mini golf course just outside Clayton. It was a bit of a drive to get to Clayton and even longer to Alexandria Bay, but the countryside is beautiful. Nick and Lisa were very helpful and responded to all our many questions prior to our visit.

We didn't find any good steak houses within the immediate area, so bring it yourself and cook it on the outdoor grills. Cell phone reception is spotty. Just outside the back door of the smaller unit was best. There is no Wifi - so Yes, the teenagers had to socialize with the rest of us!! The owners recommended that we bring plenty of water for drinking and cooking and even though there is no laundry facilities in the cottage there is a laundromat in a near by town.

We feel fortunate to have found this wonderful cottage retreat and had our best family vacation yet. We hope to go back again.

Once again...here we are, just waiting to pack up! With the summer quickly approaching, we are all so anxious for our 6th consecutive year renting from the Petosa's. Our children, now almost 10 & 15 years old, are counting down the days of school left and how many days after that we head to Cape Vincent for our favorite family vacation time. We look so forward to getting away and knowing what to expect each year, as Nick & Lisa have made this a "HOME" for us year after year. We are always excited and anticipating "what will be NEW" this year! For the past 5-6 years we have found so many new things in each unit.. Bikes, Grills, Linens, furniture, outside games, dvd's and cd's and so much more. Without a doubt, this will be another year of what we call an " amazing week in heaven"~Between the sunrises and the sunsets, to the millions of stars in the sky each night...we're sure we will not want to leave to go home once again. It's always a sad ride back to Baldwinsville....But we know there is always "next year". Thank you Nick & Lisa Petosa for the ongoing friendship and love you have shared with our family each year. We are so excited to get to Pond Shore :)

Our Family Tradition Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family has chosen this cottage as our "YEARLY" family vacation. We started coming here 5 years ago as my husband was hired by the owners to some work on both units. Our first visit was under construction (which we were well aware of) BUT, it still seemed like home to us. At the time, our boys were just 4 and 9 years old. Today, they are 8 and 13 and still love coming to the cottage. We book our next week before we leave each year. Infact, they have begged for 2 weeks next year! Each year we continue to find new things whether it be new landscaping, painting, appliances, dishes, pans, bakeware, decor, outside toys and bikes! Just to name a few. This year we were surprized with a beautiful garage which adds such cozyness to the entire cottage property along with the beautiful flower bouquets to greet us, not to mention the delicious dinners that were prepared and left in our refridgerator!!! Thank you again Nick and Lisa.

The cottage is very spacious, great layout and plenty of ammenities. Very neat and clean as well with plenty of space for extra quests. You would laugh if you knew what I brought our first year,(including pots, pans, and more!)

I cannot tell you what I started bringing because there was too much to list but, I can promise you the owners have made it so convenient that I am down to bringing just clothes, linens and bath items! Each year Nick and Lisa provide so many extras that we are amazed everytime year we visit. We cannot believe the amount of time and love that has been put into this beautiful cottage we call "HOME".

As we were leaving this year, Nick told me that I would have a washer and dryer next year! I always tease him about what I wish for each year and he amazes me everytime. These people are the kindest owners and most fun loving people that have made us keep coming back with out question. Needless to say, our children will grow with amazing memories.

Every year we invite new friends and family for a few days to join us. In amazement...they are stunned by the view, ammenities and the generosity of the owners. There are so many great things in the area such as a huge playground with baseball fields, dining, shopping, lounging by the shore and so much more. This has truly given our family memorable times with so many more to come, not to mention it is the most relaxing vacation for all.

Thank you again Nick and Lisa for sharing your "HOME" with us and making us feel so welcomed each year. You truly do have a beautifu

Welcome to the beautiful scenic village of Cape Vincent, where the Saint Lawrence River meets Lake Ontario, located 5 miles from our cottage. This beautiful waterfront community offers marinas, antiques, farmers markets, the famous annual French Festival, restaurants (waterfront dining), annual village garage sales, and is home of the Wolfe Island ferry to Kingston Ontario Canada which is located in the center of the village. The Thousand Islands region is one of the most beautiful places in New York State From Cape Vincent, To Clayton, to Alexandria Bay, NY, the Islands have much to offer. Take a day and enjoy a two nation tour or a dinner cruise on the famous Uncle Sams boat tours, or take a boat ride over to heart Island and tour Boldt Castle and Yacht House in Alex Bay

or venture off to clayton for an evening at the opera house or the famous antique boat museum. Or just enjoy the night life with a multitude of wonderful restaurants, taverns and night spots. These are just a few suggestions

from a giant list of other activities and events that there is to do for adults and children. We currently have built up a rather large library of brochures and our own list of preferred restaurants in our area.
