We had a wonderful 6 nights stay here. Olly and Daniela were lovely. Their communication in booking the house and their help whilst we were there was exceptional. We got replies within minutes. They couldn't have been nicer. The house itself was AMAZING. It had everything you needed. The super king beds were so comfortable .Waking up to the view every morning was wonderful. Thank you Olly and Daniela. We will return.
I am writing a review of this amazing home despite the fact that a part of me would love to keep it a secret!
My husband and I recently returned from our two week stay at the house... our first trip to Costa Rica. We usually head to the Caribbean Islands for a winter break, so I was a bit nervous about traveling to Costa Rica and the Pacific Ocean. I needn't have been.
As previous reviews have mentioned, the house is the perfectly designed vacation home affording privacy( every bedroom is a master with beautiful bathrooms), breathtaking views, and charming hosts...Daniela and Oliver.
They are very helpful with tips about restaurants, best beaches ( the water is warm by the way!), things to do and are helpful also with booking.
We sampled many of the restaurants in the area....some very simple beach spots with delicious food as well as a few of the higher end places and we were delighted with them all. The local people are all very friendly and the rest of us tourists all seemed happy to be there just chilling!
There is plenty to do and explore in the area, but you may find yourself happily lounging around the pool and patio at the house simply enjoying the brilliant sunshine, soft breezes, and the ocean in the distance.
The house is exactly what you see in the pictures...maybe even better! The roads however are notoriously bad with potholes and much dust in the dry season and we would highly recommend renting an SUV with 4 wheel drive to protect from the dust.
We flew in and out of the Tambor air strip on Sansa Air, which was fine. But if there are 4 or more people traveling, I would suggest looking in to chartering a flight from Liberia or San Jose ( not that much more expensive )as you would have a better chance of "on time" flights. I think that Oliver and Daniela can assist with that.
Clearly we were extremely happy with our stay at this beautiful home and we will definitely be returning...perhaps with friends or family in tow!
My wife and I stayed at the Ocean View Villa from Dec 18 - Jan 1, 2018. We have traveled extensively, but this was without doubt our favourite destination of all time. The view was breathtaking, the villa was clean, comfortable, and stylish, and the entire property was smartly and elegantly designed. While it looks beautiful in pictures, the real thing is even better. Given Daniela's medical status (i.e., she was very pregnant), we interacted mostly with Oliver. He was very friendly, helpful, informative, entertaining, and witty (in a charmingly dry and British way). Oliver provided us with excellent restaurant recommendations, and he and Daniela brokered our reservations for Christmas dinner and for a snorkeling / boat tour. They also put us in touch with a masseuse and a surfing instructor. Not only that, but they took a grocery order from us so we would have food waiting for us on our arrival.
My wife and I appreciated the fact that Daniela and Oliver live on the property. While we did not call upon them very much, it was nice to have them nearby.
The town of Santa Teresa was a short drive from the villa, and we traveled there almost every day. The roads are really rough and pot-holed, so it is best to rent an SUV instead of a car. The town was well-appointed with surf shops, grocery stores, art/souvenir stores, and restaurants. Our favourite restaurants were Tropico Latino (for fine dining in casual clothes), Caracolas (for casual food right on the beach), and Chicken Joe's (for amazing rotisserie chicken - my personal favourite). While the town was busy at times (during the Christmas holidays, mind you), it still felt small, quaint, and charming. The shopkeepers, servers and locals made us feel welcome, and we had no safety concerns at any time.
Despite our almost daily trips to town, our greatest pleasure was loafing around the villa. It was a truly serene atmosphere in an incredibly beautiful setting. We were very, very sad to leave. At the end of our trip, Oliver asked us if the villa was missing anything and if our experience could have been improved somehow. We couldn't think of a thing.
My wife and I are already thinking about staying with Oliver and Daniela again. We highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates nature, beauty, comfort, and tranquility.
Fantastic place to be
We had a wonderfull week at Casa Vista Mar. it’s a nice place to be, a terrific house, great view, everthing you will need is there. The owners are very kind and helpfull. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Thank you Jan Willem and Marjan! Please come back any time!!
Incredible house and perfect holiday
We had the most wonderful stay at Ocean View House. We stayed for two weeks but it felt longer in a very good way. I have never slept so well or relaxed so quickly. This is our third time in Costa Rica and have stayed in a few houses. This was by far the best we have stayed in. We felt it was the perfect holiday house. Plenty of storage space, ensuite bathrooms, big open plan living area. It had air conditioning but we didn't really need it as the house is cleverly designed with windows to let the breeze through. Everything we needed was catered for. Oli and Dani were amazing hosts, organising all sorts of wonderful things for us. They had done a shop for us before we arrived, they had cooked us a BBQ too so we didn't have to cook when we got there. They organised horse riding and hump back whale watching and got the guide to come to our house to give the children a special presentation about what they would see the next day. They told us about some great local spots - all of which were fantastic. They could not have been more helpful and to be honest they really made our holiday. This was the first time we have visited in the 'Green Season' and we were a bit worried but actually the weather did not feel that different. We had wonderful sunny days and yes it did cloud over several afternoons this was a welcome relief! There were some amazing thunderstorms but they tended to be at night. We are so pleased to have found this place. We will certainly be going back - again and again!
Nice house near Santa Teresa
Oliver has received us in this beautiful house with an nice ocean view. The house was clean with all you can need to cook your own meal. The house is an open concept and you can feel outside everywhere you are in the house. The house is located at 10-12 minutes from Santa Teresa and you absolutely need a 4x4 to reach the house, especially during rainy season. It's located in the jungle, expected to encounter wild (birds, geckos, hummingbirds, urubus, monkeys, toads, millipeds, spiders,...)! Oliver has gave us good advises (restaurant, green markets, fisherman,...) and is a very nice host. We recommend!
