About the property

Only 1h DRIVE or TRAIN from Milan. Parma is 30 min by car

The villa is a typical house of the Italian countryside, not far from Parma. It has 4 apartments total.

This self-catering apartment is on the ground floor and can sleep up 5 people (2 bedrooms). The dinette kitchen is fully equipped. All windows are double glazed, and all have mosquito net.

Enjoy alfresco relaxing, dining and barbeques outside in our gazebo, complete with tables and chairs, perfect for a drink at the sunset or a picnic. The wonderful view over the hills, the countryside and Tabiano Castle is unforgettable!

From May to September you can enjoy the public pools and the Aqua Park with very long slides in the nearby, only 300 mt far from the house.

The owner, on site, will be happy to offer recommendations to try the local famous food and wines, at very reasonable prices, and give you tips to discover many small trattorias in the countryside

The area: Salsomaggiore, together with Tabiano, is one of the most prestigious resort spas in Italy: lush and green hills, parks and gardens, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a golf course, trekking circuits, and a wide choice of cultural and artistic events.

This is Parma province, just in the heart of Northen Italy. Thanks to this convenient location you can visit all the major cities and lakes as day trips:

Parma is only 32 km from the house...

Piacenza 35 km (40 min),

Cremona 60 km (1h)

Mantova 100 km (1h 30min)

Milano 105 km (1h 15min),

Modena 85 km (1h),

Bologna 120 km (1h 20min),

Garda Lake 120 km (1h 10min),

Verona 160 km (1h 40min),

La Spezia - Cinque Terre - Portofino 120/140 km (1h 30min),

Pisa - Firenze 180/215 km (2h)

Alternatively take the train (Fidenza is the main station), and get straight to the city centres without traffic and parking hassles.

But... take time to visit local places as well, to enjoy an authentic experience of gorgeous rural Italy!

Local places of interest and excursions: * medieval Castles of the Duchy of Parma & Piacenza,

* Busseto, the suggestive native places of the great composer Giuseppe Verdi,

* the river Po and the small villages of the famous Don Camillo and Peppone movies,

* natural roads along the Regional Stirone River Park: an ideal place for the lovers of trekking, MTB and bird-watching. It is also very interesting for its numerous fossil findings which still exist along the river,

* local market town or Fidenza Outlet Village with 50 fashion boutiques

* mountain bike or trekking on the surrounding hills and on the Appennini Mountains. The Appennini offer wonderful views, pristine landscapes, pure mountain springs and lakes, clean air,

* Golf courses in Salsomaggiore or Castell'Arquato,

* Pilgrims ways along the Via Francigena: the most ancient road of Europe. An historical and religious itinerary, a main road tread on in the past by thousands of people traveling to Rome.

Food & Wine: Parma and its province are definitely some of the preferred destinations for those who love food and local products amongst which stand out various kinds of cold meats and salami and cheese, but also mushrooms, pasta and wines. Both parmesan cheese (“Parmigiano Reggiano”) and nutty-sweet 'prosciutto di Parma' are still prepared with homemade processes. Why don't visit a farm to discover the secrets of the success?

And don't forget “culatello di Zibello”, that matures and assumes a particular aroma thanks to the humid winter fogs and the hot summers of the plane such as the shoulder of ham of San Secondo.

On the Apennines and in particular in the area of Borgotaro 'porcino' mushrooms grow and are eaten in many ways: fried, truffled, stewed, in sauces, dried, etc… Regarding wines you can stretch from the whites of the hills, Malvasia and Sauvignon, and the reds of the planes of which is the generous Lambrusco or the sweet sparkling Fortana.

Come and try the real pleasure of eating!

About Silvia

My name is Silvia and, together with my mother Bruna, I am happy to welcome you in the house that belongs to my family since 1920. It has been my grandparent's house.

My grandfather was a farmer: He looked after animals in the cowshed, he took care of the vineyard and the fields. During winter time, together with my dad, he was interested in the cellar, but not only in wine production: from the pork meat he made local speciality such as prosciutto, salami, sausages, etc.

My grandmother took care of the house, the garden, the flowers, the vegetables, the barnyard animals... But the house was too big and so, in the fifty's, she decided to rent some rooms to people who came in my town for the Spa.

Why Silvia chose Salsomaggiore Terme

Actually, Salsomaggiore has always been famous as a spa town, thanks to the extraordinary therapeutic properties of its waters, emerging from deep wells, containing sodium chloride, bromium, iodide and lots of minerals. Tabiano was well-known for its sulphur springs; the waters are particularly suitable for treatment of skin diseases and respiratory diseases.

But this land is very rich in history, art, culture and gastronomy as well... so tourism increased visibly during the past.

Obviously, many years have passed and lots of things are changed in the house. It has been renovated in accordance with the modern laws and we tried to make it, every time, more and more comfortable. It has been divided into 4 different size apartments, to meet all the guests' requirements.

The cowshed with animals does not exist any more: now, in that place, there is my home and some rooms for bed & breakfast service.

The vineyard is always there, even if the work is harder and harder. But it is sad and difficult to root it out, owing to a lot of indelible memories.

My mother and I carried on to welcome people, as my grandmother was used to do long time ago, with the same passion and the same warmth.

What makes this apartment unique

We know very well our area, its culture, its traditions, its cooking and we are happy to introduce these knowledge to people who want to visit our region. After a 'discover day', it's so beautiful to chat with the guests and to find out, in their stories, the same enthusiasm and the same emotions that we know so deeply.

The house is located in Emilia Romagna, Parma Province, really conveniently located geographically. It's only 2 km far from the city center and 10 minutes drive from A1 motorway, linking Milan to Bologna. Plus it's within easy access to other motorways to the coast in Liguria, the mountains, and the lakes. Most parts of Northern Italy can be reached in one/two/three hours.

Parma is only 32 km from the house...

...That's why this is also an ideal house to use as a base from which to visit the rest of Italy!

Alternatively take the train (Fidenza is the main station), and get straight to the city centres without traffic and parking hassles.

Golf: The Salsomaggiore Golf Club, inaugurated in 1992, is surrounded by 70 hectares of park and garden and lies on the hills that surround the spa city of Salsomaggiore, in a green and silent valley.

It's only 10 minutes drive from the city center.

The course, with its 18 championship holes, is highly spectacular for both the technical level and the beauty of the scenery. Furthermore, its rippled fairways and its rapid greens allow players of every level to compete on a field that is always in excellent conditions. In the middle of the golf establishment a modern and wide Club House is equipped to satisfy every need.

Eine herrliche Woche in der Casa Bruna!

  • 5 of 5

fantastic stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our family (parents and seven-year-old twins) stayed in the large ground floor apartment for two weeks and had a great time. The apartment was large, beautiful, clean, quiet and always cool even on hot days, with huge windows overlooking the green hills. Our sons loved the swimming pools and water slides at the water park just across the fields, and walking and driving to nearby castles. The owner Sylvia was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend Casa Bruna! -- Cynthia, New York, NY

Thank goodness the weather was good

  • 2 of 5

This property was clean but quite dark except for one of the bedrooms. It is an apartment in a converted house which has poor soundfroofing. We were on the ground floor and there was noise from above. We were able to hear coughing, talking and throat clearing for much of the time and also the smell of cigarette smoke from the adjoining apartment.

The garden facilities were good and the property does have lovely views but not from the ground floor apartment. We had to go outside to enjoy it. It is not clear from the description that the house is on a busy road and we had to keep the windows shut at night to avoid the noise. We also had to make sure we locked the doors every time we went into the garden which was inconvenient. It is a property to go out from rather than stay at. We were expecting more privacy and would not stay in an apartment again but go for a property in its own grounds.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your review. It really matters to me that my guests enjoy every aspect of their stay. I sincerely apologise that on this occasion my house did not meet your expectations. Your feedback is very much appreciated as it enables me to improve standards. Please note that sometimes, it’s not easy to select polite people during the booking! Besides, as you knew, I live nearby and if, during your stay, you had told me about all your troubles maybe I would have been able to help you offering different solutions. However, thank you once again for your post and I hope to welcome you back in the future.

Nice appartment in a beautiful landscape

  • 5 of 5

We've had a wonderful holiday in the earth appartment, Casa Bruna. It is all very clean and well maintained with lot of space for us, a family of 5. The owners, who live nearby, are very friendly and helpfull. The best spot is the garden, with wineyard, where you can sit and relax with a fantastic view over the hillside. A minor detail is that the road along the house, where the frontdoor is, can be busy in the afternoon. The city of Salsomaggiore Terme is nice and is very close to the appartment.

Unforgetable stay near Parma.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week in Casa Bruna and our 2 children had a vey good time too. Silvia is very welcoming, the house is perfectly clean and very spacious. The view from the garden is a real marvel, specially in the evening light. The little barbecue works incredibly well, the place is vey quiet and it's a pleasure to hear the millions of crickets at night. Le location is ideal to visit lovely cities around, and kids can enjoy the great swimming-pool complex ( Colline d'aqua) next door. The bar in the camping premisses is also very friendly, and the pizza in Tabiano is "buonissima" (Silvia will tell you which one).

You must have a car.

We 'll remember this place a long time and would be ready to go back there as soon as possible. Thank you again Silvia.

Casa Bruno

  • 4 of 5

Excellent place, clean, warm and marvellous scenes (even from the window of the toilet!). Parking place for car near door, garden and blossoms in spring - really beautiful, amazing for us. - Please, check GPS coordinates: they are not accurate. We recommed this place those who either have a car or they stay without car in Tabioni.
