This house is a gem. We stayed here for two weeks with 10 people, including two small children and had the most wonderful time.
We loved the two terraces - we used one for breakfast and the other one for daytime and dinner. There's plenty outside space for the kids to roam and our little one soon became best friends with the young cat at the end of the road. The pool has a good size and there are enough loungers for everyone.
There really wasn't anything we missed.
Anne, the owner, was very helpful and organised a cot at short notice.
If you come in summer, be sure to visit one of the many village fêtes, the marchés gourmands especially were a delight: you bring your own crockery and cutlery and purchase local wine, meat, and vegetables from the stalls around you. Everyone sits next to each other so it's a chance to meet some locals, too.
There are plenty of maps for walking and many lovely little villages and towns such as Najac and St. Cing Lapopie with some amazing caves nearby. St Antonin Noble-Val is lovely and the market well worth a visit. So is a canoe trip down the Aveyron. It's also worth driving around for a bit, there are fantastic views from some of the smaller roads into the gorges.
We cannot recommend this lovely place too highly.
It is situated on the edge of St Projet - a small, very attractive village set on a hill complete with its own Chateau, in very beautiful wooded farming countryside and close to attractive places like St Cirque Le Popie, St Antonin, Caylus and Lalbenque.
The house is lovely and full of character. It is very tastefully furnished and decorated, comfortable, well equipped and was ideal for our family (4 adult couples), with room for two more children if needed.
There are patio's on both sides of the house, so we could eat outside in both morning and evening sunshine. Having a WiFi Internet connection was very useful, and there's Sky TV in the house with a DVD player too.
The pool was larger than we expected, and is securely fenced with a gate that can be locked. We made much use of the table tennis and badminton equipment.
We loved the Marché Gourmand evening in St Projet where local producers cook and sell their food together with local wines, cheeses etc and you sit out and eat on trestle tables together. We also hugely enjoyed canoeing down the Aveyron River for 2.5 hours from St Antonin (€15.00 each including transport back to St.Antonin), visiting local vineyards and visiting other local markets.
The UK-based owners could not have been more helpful, and were very prompt in responding to emailed queries.
We had a brilliant time and loved this beautiful place. We would commend it unreservedly to anyone wanting a great family holiday in one of the most attractive areas of rural France we've yet seen.
What a great house for 5 friends to use as a base for a walking holiday, there was plenty of room, a bedroom each, and plenty of bathrooms. The walking was good, more challenging around St.Antonin Noble Val, where we also went canoeing for a day. We took the train from Najac to Langupie and walked back along the river and over the hills perhaps our best walk. Around the village there were plenty of walks, with lots of wild flowers, butterflies and dragonflies. The pool was most welcome after a days walking as we were blessed with great weather. The BBQ was excellent and we used it 4nights cooking meat and fish from the local supermarket in Villefrance. The tv allowed us to follow the tennis and football competitions at home and the wifi allowed us to research the area, and communicate with home. In all this is the best house we have stayed in having been away together for the past 6years walking various parts of Europe. Eating out at the Le Clos restaurant was memorable for the food and the ambiance. In all we found the house more than met our expectations, was clean and tidy with everything you could need for a great holiday
A very beautiful house in a beautiful location. Everything a family could wish for was made available . We will return. Thank you.
Tucked on the edge of the quiet village of St Projet, this is a lovely house, with very well thought out accommodation and tasteful and interesting internal design. There were ten of us in our group and we fitted very comfortably.
Plenty of sitting areas whatever the weather. Back terrace under wisteria was a favourite, but also the very comfortable and light sitting room and the verandah/deck at the front of the house.
We cycled a lot (beautiful ride down the Bonnette valley to Caylus, and further afield), drew, made good use of badminton and table tennis and lazed around the pool.
Customer service from the owners was excellent and the house was clean and well maintained.
Very happy to recommend to friends...
I have just spent a wonderful week at Le Bourg. The house is in the most beautiful part of France and is well equipped, spacious and well furnished. This is an ideal house of either a large family group who need space, or for a group of friends with a variety of interests. You can spend time by the pool, relax in the shade in a hammock, explore the area on foot or by car, or do nothing at all. The house is located on the edge of the picturesque hamlet of Saint Projet and is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding countryside either by bicycle, walking or driving.
As an artist, I was spoiled for choice for subject matter. There are so many beautiful places close to Saint Projet. The landscape varies from soft rolling countryside to dramatic gorges and rocky outcrops. It is a really lovely and unspoilt part of France. The combination of dramatic landscapes with the soft golden stone of the buildings is inspirational.
The local markets are wonderful and sell a wide range of delicious local produce. For those who want to eat out, there are many small restaurants, bistros and cafes in easy distance of the house.
I would strongly recommend this property to anyone wanting a good location for relaxation or the exploration of the area and surrounding attractions.
Saint Projet is a historic village located in the Tarn et Garonne area of South West France. It has the beautiful XIII C Chateau of Reine Margot. Numerous walks can be enjoyed from the house and an absolute must is the exquisite little church of Notre Dames in Lacapelle Livron (used in various film sets). Local shops can be found a short drive away in Caylus or Limogne, both of which host weekly markets selling the most fresh and locally grown produce. The nearest larger towns of Villefranche de Rouergue and Montauban cater for more extensive shopping needs. Good restaurants can be enjoyed within a short drive away. (A directory is supplied). The town of St Antonin Noble Val on the river Aveyron is famous for its canoeing and can be reached within 15 minutes. To the north of the area the Lot and Dordogne rivers are easily within reach. Najac, Cordes sur Ciel and St Cirq Lapopie are just a few of the beautiful medieval villages to visit both for the history and unique shopping.
Other Activities: canoeing, rock climbing, horse riding, walking, wine tasting, caves
