I am a retired college professor. My wife and I currently reside in Oklahoma and are happy to share our house with you!
Chuck purchased this cabin in 2001
My wife and I bought this cabin as 'retreat from the heat'. We loved the convenience of being right on the outside of town and, of course, being right on river.
All that you need for a relaxing vacation in Red River.
Clean house. Right on the water. Close enough to downtown. Was perfect for our stay
The Red River cabin was a cute place, on the edge of town so out of the way a bit but pleasantly so, especially with the little creek behind it.
Our biggest issue, really, was in the cheapness that rang through the details. We have stayed in numerous places over many, many years with VRBO, and this was the worst in regards to that. Little things - like the WORST toilet paper ever; no paper towels and just one USED kitchen sponge (complete with holes in it); rough, worn out, old towels in the bathrooms; and cheap, just-a-little-left-over-in-the-bottle toiletries - truly detracted from the over all experience.
Also, a big deterrent when we first arrived was that the cabin was unlocked but not aired out. It was late October, so the days would warm up the place and we walked into a stuffy cabin with a TERRIBLE stench pervading the downstairs. We eventually surmised that it was probably coming from the pea trap in the kitchen sink which must have dried out from lack of frequent use prior to our visit. We were able to open some windows and get the smell to dissipate, thankfully, but it was certainly an unpleasant welcome at the start of our stay.
Attention to these little details seem like they wouldn't cut into the profitability too much to consider so that the location and charm of the cabin overall could be a guest's greatest take away from the stay.
we found the cabin to be clean, comfortable and conveniently located. we were able to make three meals a day for three adults in the adequately supplied and sized kitchen. bedrooms and beds comfortable. we would definitely stay here again.
we were very impressed with the property manager. She is friendly and available for questions about the area/property.
This cabin was in a great location with easy access to town. The river out front was so relaxing to either sit on the porch and enjoy the morning coffee or keep the sliding door open and listen to the rambling brook as going to sleep. The cabin was abundantly equipped with everything you need. Very clean! Thank you for an awesome experience. We WILL be back.
Property was adequate but needed attention to basic maintenance issues such as electrical outlet repair, toilet running, kitchen supplies, towel and wash rags availability. We left a note for the property mgr on items needing attention so hopefully all that is addressed. Other than that we loved the place and would stay again.
