Why Holly Snowden chose Arcos de San Miguel
San Miguel is charming and a fabulous place to live or vacation. There are more galleries and restaurants than one can possible visit in a year much less a week or month. I like to wander the streets and stop in the many tiendas, never knowing what I will discover in this constantly changing puebla. Emersion in the colorful Mexican Culture with its almost non stop Church bells, fireworks and celebrations is the reason we are here. The festivities in centro can (and do) start as early as 5 AM with fireworks and Church bells. Then the parade of amazing costumes, burros, dancing & singing with mariachis or disco music can continue until well after midnight. If this is what you love then party on! If you prefer only doses of the volume and enjoy a good night sleep well then this property is really for you because it allows the best of both worlds. Being in Atascadero is close enough to town but affords a welcome respite from the hubbub.

Beautiful and quiet vacation home in San Miguel de Allende
The home was in a quiet section of San Miguel, yet only a 15 minute walk from the center of town. The house was well maintained, very clean and had all the comforts of home. The outside patios and landscaped gardens were beautifully kept and a comfortable place to sit, have a drink and enjoy the perfect weather. Holly, the owner, met us soon after our arrival to show us the home and offered many ideas to make our visit more enjoyable. She was kind enough to drive us to the grocery store so we could get a few things and offered to drive us to the bus station on the day we departed. We really appreciated her kindness. Highly recommend this vacation home.
Lovely house in great setting
Host is a great host, very helpful. It's a lovely house in a quiet setting. If you want to be in easy walking range of the central historical area, the trade off is to be lower down, but more likely in a noisier setting or higher up in a quieter setting. The walk up the hill to this house can get your heart going but for us it's worth the peacefulness (and you can always take taxis which are plentiful and not expensive). There's Uber too but we didn't use it.
Absolutely beautiful 5-star home in a quiet neighborhood of San Miguel de Allende. The house was super clean and its amenities were outstanding - a fully equipped kitchen, big bedrooms with comfy beds, private baths and tons of storage, big, comfortable living and dining rooms, a lovely patio, and even a washer & dryer, which was a most welcome luxury. The house is about a 20-25 min downhill walk to the center. It's a pretty steep walk back up so we took taxis to return to the house. The hosts, Holly and Erik, were really great. Holly was super responsive to emails and made sure all our needs were met. Erik was kind enough to meet us at the house upon arrival and showed us all around and how everything worked. They even left us a delicious bottle of red wine to welcome us! They have put a lot of love and attention into their home and it really shows - it's a truly excellent accommodation and we'd absolutely love to stay again next time we are in SMA. We highly recommend it! Thank you, Holly and Erik, for sharing your beautiful home with us!
wonderful house, great location
We had a privilege of spending nine days in this beautiful house, with a large living room, fireplace, two bedrooms and three patios, very reasonably priced, in a great location (ten minute walk from the city center, away from the noise yet close enough). Holly was very helpful, responsive, and provided useful advice for our stay. Highly recommended!
Great city, nice house, perfect hostess
When I look for a place to stay I want a comfortable bed and living room, a workable kitchen, space for my stuff in the bathroom, good shower space and a clean well kept house. Casa Verde has all of these.
It’s also nice to have a good host. Holly does an excellent job taking care of your needs. She had breakfast stuff in the apartment, told us where to go for a quick, convenient restaurant and offered to help in any way. When we asked for directions to the a grocery store when we arrived she drove us there and back. When my wife got a cold she brought her cold medicine.
If we have any quibbles, it’s pertaining to Mexican life, not the house. For example, we had intermittent internet service. Holly checked it out and found out it was due to a new cable being installed.
Bottom line, we loved San Miguel de Allende, staying at Holly’s place, the fine restaurants and the Mexican people.
Casa Verde: The undisputed choice for our stay in San Miguel
Our time at Casa Verde was a delight. Open and spacious in a prestigious, ultra-safe neighborhood, the home has an easy flow; the rooms unfold with comfortable, tasteful furniture bathed in an explosion of color and highlighted with artwork. The front and back gardens are welcome extensions to the ample living space and allowed for us to take advantage of the ideal San Miguel weather while enjoying our morning tea and home-made dinners. The large window in the kitchen allowed for me to look out at the birds among the trees in the back garden as I prepared traditional Mexican meals using the well-stocked kitchen supplies of pots, pans, cutlery, and available spices. Fully filtered tap water and an additional full water jug of purified water were blessings. The dish washer was a welcome bonus, as were the fully functional washing machine and dryer.
Throughout our stay, we enjoyed the 15-minute walk in the direction away from downtown center to a large, clean, and inviting supermarket, which is stocked with traditional Mexican goods as well as products available in many supermarkets throughout the United States.
Close enough for a leisurely 10 minute, down-hill walk to downtown center, yet far enough to be a sanctuary, Casa Verde was for us a welcome retreat from the bustle and festivities of the city.
Holly, the owner, could not have been more responsive nor informative on the highlights, destinations, and activities of San Miguel and beyond.
During our stay, I slipped and fell on a slick, wide-gapped grate on the main road leading downtown. (Please take good care at this notorious spot, in which locals, tourists, and police horses have reportedly been injured. To cross the grate without incident, you’ll find a safe, cross hatched section on your far right when traveling downhill.) Upon receiving my call, Holly was quick to offer suggestions on the hospital to which I should go, recommended her physician, and provided several generous options to ensure my comfort and our peace of mind. Holly’s immediate reaction was to respond as a family member, not as the owner of a rental home. For this I am grateful and continue to be impressed. Had Casa Verde not been the gem it is, working with Holly would be motivation to return again.
We look forward to returning to Casa Verde and to luxuriating in the bright light, open spaces, and comforts this home away from home affords.
