We moved out to Parowan from the Clearwater FL area almost 10 years ago and LOVE southern Utah! So clean, tons of outdoor recreation, friendly people and so many national parks. We purchased the house which was built in the late 1800's and remodeled and added on to it while preserving the historical architectural features that make the home so special. It truly was a feat but feel that the home had already survived for over 100 years and we wanted to give it at least 100 more years! We know you will love it! It has the modern conveniences and so many amenities! Enjoy southern Utah and prepare to fall in love with Parowan (: Best wishes for a great vacation!
Mollie Bates purchased this house in 2003
We had a wonderful family reunion this summer -- due largely in part to our great accommodations hidden away in the small town of Parowan. The house was roomy (slept 5 families with little kids), large kitchen with two dining rooms, games and toys for kids, trampoline in the back, large back yard (we had a great water fight) - and close to many attractions in nearby towns.
Highly recommend! Thanks so much, Molly.
The house is beautiful with more than enough room for our 20+ family. The huge back yard is a plus for family games.
We had no issues with anything.
Our whole family loved being there and are already talking about coming back.
We had a wonderful time staying at this wonderful home in Parowan. There was 16 of us and there was plenty of space for privacy and plenty of space for gathering. Mollie was very responsive to any needs that we had. Will definitely come again.
We just had a family reunion with 35 people and stayed in the Parowan Big House on Main. It was fabulous! Mollie is AMAZING to work with! The actual house is so fun and so cute and so user friendly and so full of fun little surprises! The kitchen is amazing and well stocked and the eating areas are perfect. The treehouse in an upstairs bedroom is so fun for the kids! Each room has it's own theme and the whole house is decorated in such a fun and wonderful way. The backyard is huge and shaded at night. We went in July and the AC was great. The kids loved the tramp and there were so many thing available to use like tables and chairs and volleyball nets and things like that. Mollie was so helpful before, during and after our stay. We fell in love with Parowan! It is the sweetest town with some of the most friendly people in the world. We visited the Parowan Gap and saw the Petroglyphs. We saw Dinosaur tracks and went on the greatest hike to a waterfall, called Hidden Haven, just a minutes from the house. We were there for July 24th and we went to the cutest Parade and ate a free dinner across the street with the whole town. We also went to a concert in the Park and loved the Navajo Tacos from one of their food trucks at the park. It's like going back in time. Our ancestors are Parley P Pratt and Anson Call so the town has a lot of meaning to our family personally which made it even sweeter for us. It was great to get a photo next to Parley P. Pratt's statue at the Heritage Park. We reserved the pool for an evening and everyone loved it. As part of the rental you get a free pass to the Gym on Main and the teenagers and a few adults went to the gym and LOVED it!!! The house has great gathering rooms and room to play games with big groups. We didn't have time this time but it's awesome how close you are to Cedar City, Brian Head and St. George. There are So many things to do very close by. I can't say enough about how much we ALL loved this house and the town of Parowan!!
Thank you Mollie for providing a practically perfect in every way place for our family reunion!!
Our family of 20+ had an amazing time at this house as well as in the surrounding community. There is a small grocery store just down way making ice cream runs or missing ingredients easy to grab. The yard was perfect for the kids to be able to run and play. They loved jumping on the trampoline. The sprinklers came on at 6:30pm which the kids loved playing in. They had major water gun fights for hours each time. The adults wished they they hadn't come on until the middle of the night. Can't win 'em all.
My favorite parts of the house were the treehouse room and the kitchen. The kitchen was an amazing gathering place to visit and to play games at the huge dining room table. The beds were really comfy and clean. There was enough room in the home to spread out in, keeping parts of the house alive with activities while other parts were able to be quite for nap times.
The treehouse room was a great hangout for the kids to watch movies or get a little alone time. I would suggest putting a fan up there though. It gets really warm.
Having laundry was really helpful for the families with toddlers that were potty training. Plus we were able to wash towels and keep dirty clothes at bay.
I gave the owners some suggestions to help make their home even better and they were committed to making those changes. I appreciated that a lot.
We loved that they have kept the historic charm of the house while updating things that make it feel very modern and new.
Mollie was great to work with and was attentive to whatever we needed. She was reasonably available and prompt at replying. Overall it was one of our best reunions we have had and this home made it near perfect.
Stay here! You won't be disappointed. I hope to be back in a couple years.
PS, check out all the hiking and historic things around Parowan. We went to a concert in the park and they have tons of community things going on. Super cute little town. I want to live there!
Brian Head and Cedar Breaks NP was a quick drive up the mountain.
The altitude can be a bit much for people that aren't used to it. Staying in Parowan is a much better option and gives you a ton of things close by to do.
Loved loved loved our vacation! Come stay at 'The Big Chill'
Our large family (almost 30 of us) rent a home every year or so for a family reunion, and this by far is our favorite! We were not familiar with Parowan and as a small town not too much is online, but the size was perfect so we went for it! Boy we are so glad we did!
The house was perfect...our favorite part of the house was the various lounging areas where some could hang out in TV room and others could be in the living room holding conversations and visiting without the distractions of TV and loud noise. The rooms were separate enough that mornings could still be quiet with some up at the crack of dawn, kids (even adults) could take naps during the day and putting the kids down at night didn't require activities to stop! Every two rooms shared a bathroom which was extremely convienent. We had plenty of linens, towels, and blankets. The kitchen had the feel of your kitchen at home, utensils, pots/pans, dishes...anything you may need was there. Two large dining areas were ideal and allowed us a kids area and adult area- very handy!
Our family really enjoyed the backyard! The in ground trampoline was a huge hit with both parents and kids alike! There was basketball and even a fire pit that made for some great evenings by the fire roasting marshmallows and making s'mores! Plenty of chairs and seating helped make it a popular hangout for everyone!
Mollie was fantastic and available for any questions, really made the experience painless!
We certainly did not need to worry about activities! While the town is small it was amazing...we walked a few blocks to a fun park and town ice cream shop and spent an afternoon or two at the city pool (bring your own shade though!) And that doesn't even begin to cover all the hiking, Yankee Meadows reservoir, Brian's Head, Cedar Breaks Natl Park were all amazing experiences! Cedar City is about 15 mins down the road with a Walmart and all the amenities of a large town! One particularly hot day we spent at the Cedar City Aquatic Ctr (huge indoor water park), an absolute blast!
We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again! I would recommend this house to anyone and it is a fantastic area for being outdoors! Thanks Mollie!!!
Petroglyphs, beautiful, picturesque National Parks, hometown conveniences and an beautiful home!
