Villa Asteri is a gorgeous villa surrounded by olive, holly oak and fir trees that ensure privacy. The villa is built on two floors with a stone paved patio area all around the property and pretty wisteria, oleander, bougainvillea and typical geraniums lining the hedges and gardens. The gardens surrounding the house are full of flowers blossoming at different times throughout the summer so the surroundings are always colourful. Perfectly situated in a very green and exclusive private area on a hillside the villa, enclosed by a large gate and planted fences, is ideal for a family holiday or for a more cosy holiday for two. The house is situated at the end of a private road with a private lit drive and a parking area for the house.
The villa comprises a split level, open plan kitchen and living room with indoor and outdoor dining facilities. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the modern conveniences you would need for a summer holiday including a large fridge freezer, dish washer, toaster, toasted sandwich maker, coffee machine, kettle, cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and herbs and spices. The lounge, separated from the kitchen – dining area by two steps is light and airy with a comfy two seater and a three seater sofa, a flat screen TV, DVD and CD player. Large windows open out onto the garden and French windows lead directly out onto the swimming pool area. The twin bedroom, with French windows leading out onto the swimming pool area plus a large bathroom with shower enclosure are also on the lower level. A spiral staircase leads up to the Master bedroom with its own private balcony and outdoor seating for you to enjoy the superb view during the day or romantic stargazing on those hot summer nights. The main bathroom with bath and shower attachment is also on the upper floor opposite the Master bedroom. At the back of the house there is a utility room with washing machine and clothes airer and washing powder and softener is provided. The villa is tastefully decorated and furnished with your comfort in mind and of course there is Air Conditioning in every room plus Wi-Fi throughout. Nearly every part of the villa offers unique and breathtaking views over the sea and the small fishing village of Ligia.
There is a private stone-paved area all the way around the house with a shaded dining area overlooking the sea and for those who wish for a quiet relaxing time there is a hammock at the back of the house. Of course we provide sun beds both on the patio around the private pool and on the upstairs balcony. The dining table on the patio sits 6 persons and is shaded by a large umbrella. To the side of the house is an outside shower for your use around the pool. The infinity pool is approximately 7,5m X 4,5m with steps leading into it at one end and a gradual depth of approximately 60cm to 1,90m. Overlooking the coast and fishing village of Ligia it is the ideal place to relax and enjoy your holiday.
Villa Asteri is close to the stone built village of Katouna where there is a small traditional taverna open every evening and cafe on the square open throughout the day. 1km away towards the coast is Ligia where there are plenty of beachfront tavernas to choose from plus mini markets, some of the best bakeries on the island, cafes and bars. This villa is perfect for those interested in walking, mountain biking, swimming or simply relaxing by the pool!

We had a fantastic holiday at villa Asteri. It was a perfect place to relax and chill out with our 2 year old daughter. The villa had everything we needed and we loved waking up to the incredible view in the morning and at night siting on the balcony drinking wine watching the boats and the lights from the harbour. Lillias gave us great advice on where to eat and which beaches were best for our daughter. We had a wonderful day visiting Porto Katsiki and fabulous meals at Seven Islands, the local taverna and Saffo at Agios Nikita's. It was everything we wanted for a wonderful, relaxing family holiday. We will definately be back.
We were thoroughly delighted with Villa Asteri - a very well-maintained villa in a lovely hillside location with wonderful views. While it would be possible to have a relaxing holiday without leaving the property, we took the advice of Lilias, who was most friendly and helpful, and sampled the local bar and taverna, both of which were truly Greek and provided a real escape from the tourist trail. We also visited other tavernas, namely Stavros' in Vathi on Meganisi and Seven Islands near Lygia, as well as the unbelievably beautiful beach at Egrimni, on Lilias' recommendation, and all of which were well worth visiting. We even went for a bicycle ride with 'Get Active' one evening to visit the waterfalls at Nidri which we thoroughly enjoyed and which we would recommend to anyone who enjoys some gentle activity amid all the relaxation! We had a fantastic holiday here and intend to return in the future. Many thanks, Lilias!
Our third time at villa Asteri and it could not have been more perfect! This is a truly magical place to spend your summer holiday. The villa is beautiful and set in a lovely peaceful location. The property is maintained spotlessly clean and the customer service is exceptional - nothing was ever too much trouble. Villa Asteri is very close to shops and there is a gorgeous little family taverna in the village which we visited often trying to work our way through the glorious traditional Greek dishes! We have booked again for 2014 and can't really imagine looking at anywhere else for our summer holiday. Many thanks to you all who make our stay fantastic! John, Lyn, Mary and George
We love staying in villa Asteri last year. We have spent one week of our summer vacation there, during the alst week of June. We're a family of three, with a six year old daughter. Everyone enjoyed the stay, it's been lovely. The villa is spacious, has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and could easily accomodate a family of four. Lilias has been a great host, punctual, respectful and helpful. The property is very clean, well maintained, service is great. I've recommended it to all my friends and plan on coming back soon.
We had a wonderful holiday in Villa Asteri. It was one of the most relaxing ever. Memories of being in the infinity pool whilst overlooking the bay and the fishing harbour of Ligia will stay with us forever. We always seek a stunning view and Villa Asteri did not disappoint. The facilities were first rate and the villa was spotlessly clean. Lilias was so friendly and did everything she could to make our stay as special and comfortable as possible, down to Patrick lending me his snorkel - thanks Patrick!
The tavernas down at the harbour were lovely - the best ever stuffed squid! Also very reasonably priced. Watching the moon come up over the mountains in the evenings was magical. When nightfall came we watched the lights of the little fishing boats in the harbour from our stunning first floor terrace where we sat out undisturbed, playing cards or just relaxing until the early hours.
Having two teenage boys, they really appreciated the wi-fi connection so they were still able to be in contact with friends at home. We didn't bother with the TV but it's there if required, also a dvd player, but again we didn't bother - the views are too good to waste.
Ligia and the surrounds are far removed from the noisy brashness of Nydri which we always try to avoid, however, just once it's worth venturing that way to have a meal in Dimitris up in the hills above Nydri. Another place worth visiting is Geni which is beautiful with lovely bayside tavernas. Also take a trip to the West coast to see the stunning cliff-top views and venture back to the villa via the mountains.
When we weren't in our pool, the beach we loved was Gyra near Lefkada Town. Lying out on the shingle beach on a sunbed under a parasol, sipping a Cafe Freddo, having a swim and enjoying using Patrick's snorkel and watching the array of fish in the crystal clear water was sheer paradise. We also loved to see the elderly Greek black-clothed women come down the beach and take to the waters. A real family beach for everyone to enjoy.
I have two regrets: (1) we had to leave and (2) we couldn't take the little black & white cat home to the UK with us.
Oh, writing about our holiday has made me want to go back ... until next time ...
We have just returned from the villa Asteri in Lefkas and we had a very good holiday. The villa was everything that we expected and more. Lilias was there to welcome us and nothing was too much trouble for her. All the tips and insider information she was able to provide helped us to enjoy the surrounding even more. The taverna in Katouna was really good for a nearby meal.
There were five of us - 2 adults and 3 fairly grown up children and everyone had a really good time. The villa is immaculate and has everything that you need.
We would definitely reccomend it to our friends and hope to go back ourselves sometime soon!
Lefkas Town, 10 mins drive, is the main commercial centre and has the best shopping facilities on the island. There is a quayside road south of the causeway entrance with a busy marina. The High Street runs through the centre of town and is also known as the ‘Pazari’, this is the main street for shopping and cafes. A mid-morning coffee in the square is ideal for a break and a perfect opportunity to see the Lefkadians in ‘action’!
Nidri, 15 mins drive, is the primary holiday resort on Lefkas. There are a variety of tavernas, restaurants and cafes here, also a handful of bars and a couple of nightclubs. The majority of shopping and tourist facilities are on the main street. On the seafront, known as the ‘Paralia’, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Pringiponissa islands - amongst which is Scorpios, owned by the Onassis family. Cruises and Ferryboats operate from here to Cephalonia and Ithaca.
Agios Nikitas, 20 mins drive, on the north-west tip of the island, is a pretty little village surrounded by fabulous beaches such as Pefkoulia, Kathisma and Kalamitsi. It has adequate tourist facilities, many tavernas, restaurants and a few shops. The nucleus of the village has been placed under preservation order, thus maintaining the traditional Ionian ambience.
Syvota Bay, 30 mins drive, is in the south-east at the head of a large bay and has an outstanding natural harbour. Syvota is wonderful for an evening meal with great fish tavernas by the sea.
Vassiliki, 40 mins drive, in the south is a self-contained tourist resort with a full range of facilities. The harbour is lined with restaurants and cafes and the main street has a fair number of shops. Souvenir shopping is usually quite good here, there are lots of shops which specialise in casual wear and sports gear. Vassiliki is of particular interest to windsurf fans. Many sailing companies operate from here and you may hire windsurf boards and catamarans on a daily or hourly basis. Vassiliki has a ferry port operating a service to Cephalonia and Ithaca.
Agios Giannis – Milos – Gyra - Kastro
(10 mins drive) A length of approximately 12 kms of fine shingle beach beginning as Agios Giannis Beach which is dotted with tavernas and cafes. Further along is Milos Beach with kite surfing facilities, a couple of cafes and a restaurant. On the northern point is Gyra Beach favoured by the locals with a small taverna right on the beach, sunbeds and a cafe. The stretch ends with Kastro Beach, completely virgin without any facilities. This stretch of beach is mostly very fine shingle and in some places sand.
Nidri Beach - Pefkakia
(12 mins drive) A long sandy beach dotted with restaurants and hotels on the outskirts of the town. Very good for children as it is very shallow for a relatively long way in and does not shelve almost at all. There are water-sports facilities and lots of little restaurants where you may have lunch and water sports including paragliding, wakeboarding, water skiing and fun rides.
Milos Beach – Agios Nikitas
(20 mins drive) To get to it you must go to Agios Nikitas and take a sea taxi operating a taxi service to and from Milos departing from the beach at the end of Agios Nikitas Main Street.
(approx. 1 hr drive). One of the most beautiful beaches on Lefkas. Fine shingle dotted with rock formations and a long stretch of pure white shingle beach. There are two small cafés down here and not much with regards to sun beds and beach facilities.
Porto Katsiki Beach
(approx. 1hr drive) Porto Katsiki, the best known beach, is today considered one of the most outstanding in the whole of Europe. This is a beach of exceptional beauty at the most southern tip of the island. A gorgeous shingle beach framed by high limestone cliffs and crystal-clear turquoise water. There are cafes and tavernas at the beach and sunbed facilities on the beach.
(approx. 1 hr drive). 296 or so, steps lead down to this stunning beach virginal fine shingle beach. One of the top beaches in the Ionian Sea this is a must for visitors to Lefkas island. As with Porto Katsiki it is a gorgeous beach framed by high limestone cliffs and crystal-clear turquoise water.
Exploring by motorboat: Taking a motorboat out can open up a realm of uninhabited beaches and coves. We can arrange motorboat hire for you if you wish to discover the surrounding coastline. The motorboat can be moored in either Nidri (15 mins drive) or at Sivota (10mins drive). When we arrange boats for you the price includes the provision of a map of the boating area, buoyancy aids, flares, oars and anchors plus delivery and pick-up. Detailed instructions will also be given for operation and mooring and a full local back-up service is provided. There are many small deserted coves on the coast and excellent snorkeling areas where you can enjoy the local marine life such as Sea Urchins, Sea cucumbers, Hermit Crabs and Red Star Fish.
