Cozy house with a great yard
Enjoyed our stay in Murray Hill. The house was very cozy and very well equipped. The beds were comfy. The house and the fully fenced yard was perfect for us and our furry child.
Nice updated house on quiet street
We enjoyed our stay at this property. It is convenient to some great local restaurants and about 30 miles to Neptune and Atlantic beaches. This is indeed a private, quiet street. The owners have done a great job updating the house with lots of storage/hooks in bedrooms and bathroom and it is very nicely decorated. Although we did not have any meals at the house, the kitchen looked as though it was well equipped. It worked well for my husband and me and our 4 legged child.
Cute, private, clean & convenient
We enjoyed our stay in this cute little Murray Hill house. I was able to walk with my 5 year old nephew to a super close playground and it didn't really take very long to get to other places we needed to go by car either. Plus, Mr. Harper was very nice and accommodating on more than one occasion. I would consider staying here in the future if there was ever a need again.
I applaud the person responsible for the decor and cleanliness of the quaint home. However, the small (full) beds are very uncomfortable. Neither me or my son slept well. Also, my alarm went off at 3:00. Set as a prank by previous guest? Upon arrival we were greeted by 2 pit bulls rooting through trash across the narrow street. One approached my son who quickly ran into home, not knowing if it was vicious or not. We watched from inside as the apparent home owners dogs came home, but never picked up any trash which was not strewn all over.
I find it appalling that this person did not even have the decency to contact me about any of this before or after leaving this review.
We have successfully rented this home for THREE YEARS now and have received nothing but 5 star reviews across the board. This person stays for one night and leaves our first "bad" review after 3 years.
I will address the bed issue first. It is clearly stated in our listing that the house has two full size beds. This is not a large home with large rooms (also addressed in the listing) and in order to sustain a comfortable environment to move around for our guests anything larger than a full size bed would cramp the room movement. And again before booking this information is made available to anyone before they book.
As far as the other complaints which I will address briefly. The title of his complaint says "Rough Neighborhood" which is merely one guests opinion out of a sea of nothing but 5 star reviews. While no the home does not reside in the Beverly Hills zip code nor is it beachfront property, this is an older historic neighborhood and our price point reflects such. The neighborhood is safe and as stated the home is on a private street with only a few other homes. Please read the other unbiased reviews from other guests.
Lastly, I should not be held responsible for a prior guest who maybe without a "prank" in mind, legitimately set the alarm for 3am. Nor should I be held responsible for any dog experience he may have had. This is the first time I have ever heard about any dogs imposing on any guest and like I initially said, had this guest informed me of any of this, I would have done whatever I could to help.
I guess the better and more responsible thing to do is, book the home for one night, ignore the website rental listing and any information given beforehand about bed size or neighborhood information, ignore any option to contact the home owner about problems whatsoever and weeks later leave a bad review.
Sounds about right! How can anyone improve anything, apologize or make good when they learn through a bad review left weeks later?
I have said this before and I will say it once more. This was a one night stay and I say this because other guests have stayed MUCH longer and have left gleaming reviews. I leave it up to any future potential guests to draw their own conclusions.
Perfect little bungalow
Very nicely appointed, clean and quiet. Was a very welcome change from hotels. Would definitely stay here again if in the area!
Quiet and Cozy
We traveled to Jacksonville to visit a friend in the hospital. Found this home that was within 15 minutes of the hospital which worked out well for us.
As advertised, the home is at the end of a culture-de-sac and is very private. It is small and cozy and fit our needs to a tee. It is an older home that has been nicely renovated with modern features and tasteful decorations. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking essentials if you wish to cook a meal.
There was just the 2 of us, but I think it would work for a small family or couples traveling together. The beds are full sized (not queen or king) but worked for us just fine. There were plenty of linens, towels, and pillows.
If ever in Jacksonville and in need of a place to stay we would certainly looks this place up. I recommend to others.
