About Susanna Hughes

I grew up in the village of Marazion, went to school in Penzance, and have always loved West Penwith. My 2 children also love Marazion, as do their partners and now my grandchildren. We all visit regularly, separately or sometimes all together!

Susanna Hughes purchased this cottage in 1983

Why Susanna Hughes chose South West Cornwall

We chose Sarnia because it is adjacent to Tresco, which was the cottage I grew up in, now owned by my niece Jane (the two cottages can be rented together and would then accommodate 12).

What makes this cottage unique

Just 2 minutes from the beach

The beach is very safe for young children

The causeway to St.Michael's Mount is 2 mins away

Very close to all village shops and amenities

Excellent restaurants just 2 mins walk away

All mod cons as furnished for our own use.

Storage heaters and woodburning stove.

Back patio and balcony get afternoon and early evening sun. Ideal for BBQs.

Lovely Cottage in Beautiful Location

  • 4 of 5

Lovely little cottage equipped with all you need for a few days away in a very beautiful part of Cornwall. Very cosy once the log burner was lit! We were lucky to have great weather - cold but bright and sunny - the sunsets over Marazion and St Michaels Mount were stunning. Marazion is a very pretty little town and the beach provided hours of entertainment for the kids and dog. Lots to do locally too and plenty of child and dog friendly National Trust sites (Botallack, Godolphin and Trengwainton being the ones we visited). Polgoon vineyard just outside Penzance also worth a visit!

Lovley end of terrace house

  • 4 of 5

Lovley quaint end of terrace house. A little chilly in places but the wood burner and St. Michael mount make that nothing. Owner very friendly and helpful and over a nice week away. Would strongly recommend to anyone and considering re visiting property again at some point in the future.

Perfect Getaway Cottage In Cornwall

  • 5 of 5

We had a few days away in Cornwall last month and were delighted we came across Sarnia on the internet.

We chose Sarnia because we have visited Marazion on day trips before but have never stayed there.

We were not disappointed. The layout and style of the property were perfect as well as the location.

Only a minute from the beach the property offered everything you would want from a quaint period cottage.

The wood burner made it very difficult to leave house!

Sarnia Cottage is in the pretty village of Marazion about 2 miles from Penzance. The village has a general store, Post Office and bakery along with a number of art galleries. The historic St. Michaels Mount can be reached at low tide by the causeway or a relaxing ferry ride at high tide. The Castle is a National Trust property.

Marazion is a wonderful place for children with a safe, sandy beach and a small river in which dinghies can be used. It also has a great adventure playground. Sarnia is just 2 minutes walk from the beach, sailing club and playground. Further along the beach are facilities for learning to windsurf and kite surf. There are surf schools at nearby Sennon.

Marazion is on the South West Coastal Path which has fantastic walks. Close by is the Lizard peninsula with its' dramatic coastline. Travelling west you can visit Chysauster, Minack Theatre, Lands End, Sennon and Mousehole. St. Ives is less than 10 miles away. Penzance also has a lot to offer.

Other Activities: bird watching, kite flying
