Great experience. Martha and her daughter and friends were helpful hosts. The location was just a kilometer from town so quiet but near everything. Easy access to the uncrowded beach. Really can't think of anything to complain about. Highly recommend this rental.
Thank you very much for staying at our villa, you guys were amazing guests as well and we would love to host you again in the future.
Great Family Vacation Home
We really enjoyed our stay with Martha. She and her daughter, who was visiting, were extremely helpful in taking us to town to get help at a local hospital when our toddler came down with a suspected urinary tract infection. The house is very accommodating and Martha was always there to answer questions about where to eat etc. We especially appreciated the fact that the bathrooms were more to USA standards as far as being able to flush toilet paper, which you will not find in many places in Costa Rica. Most places you can NOT flush toilet paper. The house and grounds were safe and clean. Martha takes pride in her rentals and you can tell she cares about her renters and was always very helpful in attending to our needs. We would stay there again and recommend this house to anyone wanting a place close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough away to have it more peaceful and less hectic as staying downtown. Thank you Martha for a great family vacation home to stay at on our trip.
Beautiful home, friendly & helpful owner, great location
Villa Aragon is wonderful! The new pool is clean and beautiful. The house is clean and beautiful and spacious, with king size beds in every room. Only the master bedroom and living room have air conditioning, so the other two rooms do get a little warm. But our kids slept in those rooms, with ceiling fans on full speed, and we left the bedroom doors open.
Martha (the owner) is so warm and welcoming, and was very helpful in arranging activities during our stay. Her son, Ricardo, manages the online part of the rentals- and he was fantastic about responding quickly to the questions I sent before our trip (he is fluent in English, Spanish and more!).
The town of Puerto Viejo has very pretty and clean beaches, which weren’t crowded at all during our stay (June 2018). Also, there are nice restaurants and some souvenir shopping throughout the small town.
I would give this home and our experience 10 stars if I could! Villa Aragon is new to VRBO (but they have been renting out this vacation home for several years), and since we were the first VRBO clients, I wanted to leave a positive review so all the rest of you would know, you should definitely choose this home!! You won’t regret it!
Thank you, Martha & Ricardo— you provided a great experience for our family!
Guys thank you so much for choosing Villa Aragón and for this beautiful revew. We are happy to now you guys had a great time, you were amazing guests and we hope to see again any time soon. Regards!
Villa Aragon is located just outside of Puerto Viejo in the south east corner of Costa Rica and only 50 kilometers from the Panamanian border. Visitors have several transportation options. We recommend renting a car, but there are also shared shuttles to and from San Jose airport, and you can also hire a private driver. If sitting in a car for 4+ hours is not for you, then there is the option of flying with Sansa Air. Flights leave every day from the San Jose airport to Limon.
Puerto Viejo is the Rasta of the Caribbean. It is a small, laid back town with bustling outdoor recreational activities as well as an amazing restaurant night scene. The options are plentiful, so think carefully where you want to eat! Restaurants cater to all tastes and price points. Our favorite Restaurants are Pecora Nera, Amimodo, Koki Beach, Madre Tierra, Gindra’s place for Caribbean food and Café Rico and Bread and Chocolate for breakfast. There are also several shops in town, but our favorite one is Luluberlu with its unique style and inviting feel. The store was featured in Vogue Magazine on January 2019. This is must-see when in Puerto Viejo, as is the Saturday morning farmers market, located behind Casa de la Cultura, where you can find an amazing array of organic produce and freshly made delights, from artisan breads and cakes to homemade chocolates.
There are also plenty of outdoor activities to choose from. Surfing lessons and tours with our local guides is on the top of the list. Another easy and inexpensive activity is visiting the Cahuita National Park. The entrance fee is donation-based.
So whether you want to enjoy your days lazing by the pool, or adventuring with our local guides, Puerto Viejo is a unique and charming place that epitomizes Costa Rica's Pura Vida philosophy.
