Take a 5 minute taxi from the airport and you have arrived to paradise. This amazing condo is in the exclusive hotel/condo ESJ Towers in Isla Verde. The unit has 2 bedrooms and 1.5bathrooms making it very comfortable. Each bedroom has 2 full size beds and the living room has a queen size sleeper giving you a total of 5 beds. Pool access is a breeze because the unit is on the same floor as the pool entrance (the unit is not ground level). The pool is large and has plenty of chairs to kick back and relax in the sun. If you need a cocktail don’t worry there is a bar at the pool where you can order drinks and have them charged to your room.
The beach is literally just a few steps away. The beach’s gentle surf and wide beach stretch out for several miles. On the beach you can enjoy a variety of activities such as jet skis, kite surfing, offshore surfing, parasailing, banana boat rides, sailing and much more.
Within ESJ Towers there are several additional amenities. The gym and sauna is available for those of you that want to work out or like to relax in the steamy sauna. For additional entertainment there is a game room, card room, ping pong table and pool tables. A restaurant, bar and convenience store are also inside the property on the lobby floor.
Everything you need to make yourself at home is inside the unit. All you need to do is come and stay with us.
So what about the area?
Isla Verde Beach is to Puerto Rico’s San Juan what Ipanema Beach is to Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro. It is stylish, upscale, and the place to be seen. It is also considered one of the best municipal beaches in San Juan. Meaning Green Island in Spanish, Isla Verde draws beach-lovers from all over for many desirable high points, including plenty of fashionable, upscale hotels, a thriving beachfront spilling over with restaurants and cafes, and a hip, urban vibe. The crescent shape and bustling atmosphere take center stage in this exciting area of Puerto Rico’s capital city.
Begin putting together a picture of Playa de Isla Verde San Juan with a long, curving beach topped with light, tan-colored sand on the northeast coast. Back it by tall palms that nicely blend the line of San Juan hotels behind into a more natural scene. Add all these elements together and you’ve got an ideal, urban beach filled with a mix of trendy folks, tourists, and families enjoying the best beach activities and warm Puerto Rico sun and water. Adjacent to Isla Verde Beach is Carolina Beach, offering some more amenities and services.
There are plenty of things to do along the shores of Isla Verde Beach. There is a popular beach shop offering banana boat rides, parasailing, and Hobie Cat and wave runner rentals. The rentals can be taken out by the hour or by half and full days. Diving off the main shore is also a possibility and there are several dive shops that can take you out on the water. Often dive operators suggest diving off shores located 30 to 45 minutes from Isla Verde due to Isla Verde’s low visibility. Isla Verde is still a good place to arrange a trip and if staying in the vicinity, dive tours take you to the best, nearby spots toward the east where visibility increases to between 20 and 50 feet. Cayo Diablo, part of an island chain on the east coast, is one of the most popular sites.
The gentle surf and wide beach (over 200 feet in width) are the most welcoming aspects of Isla Verde Beach. Snorkeling is a fun pursuit and though visibility isn’t magnificent, it’s still possible to have a look at small marine creatures and corals living in the surrounding reef. Water skiing, jet skiing, parasailing, and body boarding are other available and popular activities. Many of the shops and hotels lining the beach host special events and offer water sports and other beach activities. Note that holidays, weekends, and the summer months can get extremely busy, which means prior arrangements for many activities are necessary.
All along the strip of beach there are endless condos, hotels, and other high rises along with entertainment centers, and plenty of eateries to choose between, from upscale to budget. There are also numerous nightclubs, bars and chilled-out lounges around Isla Verde Beach, many near the shore to accommodate visitors which means nightlife is especially lively. There are two big-name casinos situated in Playa de isla Verde San Juan as well, and these are a big draw for tourists as several excellent area spas.

So who am I? Well my name is Ricardo and I love the beach, the ocean, and traveling. When I travel I look for places where I can find unique locations where I can try a variety of different adventures. Either it be under water scuba diving ship wrecks and admiring life inside our ocean or exploring the wilderness and finding caves and ruins.
But then again all vacations don’t have to be a adventure. Sometimes I just like to sit back and relax, try new places to eat and enjoy myself.
Owner purchased this condo in 2011
There are many reasons I purchased this property. For the past 4 years I started traveling more frequently domestically and internationally and one of the very few places I repeat in my travels is Puerto Rico. The island offers a wide array of places to see, things to do, and food to fall in love with. I call it home.
The property is located in very desirable location. When I’m in fu town the first day I kick back in the pool or on the beach and just relax. As the day comes to an end the night life begins. I walk a few steps and I’m in the Old San Juan Hotel. This place has casinos, restaurants, and some of the best night life in the metropolitan area. You really don’t have to go too far to have a good time.
My son and I (age 25) have been wanting to go back to the land of both of our Fathers for years. I saved and saved and finally the time had come. Prior to booking at the ESJ Towers I had booked another place that somehow never received my deposit. Yay for Me!!!! Isla Verde is the place to be for a visit to PR.
*Great food within a short distance from location
*Clean, secure, and for the most part quiet
*Having a kitchen allowed for reheating of food
*The resort next door has great live music, gambling & sports bar
*I DIDNT WANT TO GO HOME (I literally cried when I left)......
*If you have a collapsable thermos (or buy a styrofoam one at the store) bring it. It makes it easier to bring stuff to drink while on the beach. There is only one vendor that sells coconut water, soda and bottled water with some light food. No alcohol sold on the beach unless you walk further down to the bar and I think for a mixed fufu drink my son paid $9 per drink - Ouch!
*If you are going to rent a car go less than a block away (to your left of the towers) to Quality. They had a special for $19.99 per day unlimited for a nice Toyota. *BEFORE you go to the beach, stop by the gym and make arrangements for a beach chair rental. I believe they are $2 per use versus $4 on the beach.
*Food - sooooo many places to choose from BUT the one place that we went to ALL the time was Mi Casita (it is located in the little strip mall next to the 24/7 store/Burger King (?). Our favorite meals were El Navidad (Christmas) favorites of pernil (pork), pasteles, arroz con gandules - reminded me of my childhood. The Paella was pretty good and the mofongo was awesome!!!!
*Go to 24/7 store for goodies (we bought a case of water, rum, coke, juice, and snacks) - they also have a really good restaurant there and wine on tap
*Take the bus (and bring some patience). The bus is .75 BUT it is on Caribbean time - supposed to be every 35 minutes but not a set schedule so you could be waiting for an hour. - And bring change - bus drivers won't make it for you.
*Be adventurous. If you get a chance for some beach fried good PR food - go to Pinones. I was craving bacalaitos and all the locals said go there.
*If you are going next door to dance, bring something to wear.
*And, finally when in Old San Juan, across from El Convento try El Batey - dive bar.
I highly recommend staying here! It's PERFECT! My boyfriend and I came here from Vermont and just loved the area and didn't want to leave. It was everything we expected and more. Everything was very clean, and we had everything that we needed. Restaurants, nightclubs, bars, grocery stores, direct access to the beach, and cabs were all within walking distance of the condo. ESJ towers are pretty quiet and the staff is extremely friendly. The concierge helped us with all of our tours and made things a breeze for us. The condo was beautifully decorated, the beach was amazing, and we looked forward to returning to it to relax, after our many adventures.
The condo owners, were very easy to work with and quick to reply to all of my emails. Their rate was reasonable and the close distance to everything made everywhere easy to get to. We will definitely be returning to PR and hope to stay at the condo again.
This was our second stay at ESJ towers and our first time renting this condo. We will rent here again as the owner follows up to all questions, in timely, friendly and very helpful. The unit is as it is pictured, clean, updated and everything you need to enjoy your stay. You will not find a better value for the cost of this unit.
When we arrived at ESJ towers we were pleased to see the extensive renovations that had taken place in the lobby, elevators and the hallways. Last year was a great experience, but this made it more enjoyable. There is direct access to the beach from the lobby, a new bar and everything is new and bright.
The staff is very helpful and friendly and are always there to help you. You can make arrangements for day trips dinner suggestions or anything you need. If you decide to rent a car you even have free parking in the underground garage.
The pool is large and there are plenty of chairs for everyone. Enjoy the pool with life guard on duty , friendly staff and a bar that serves drinks and snacks. At two every day there is a bingo game with some great prizes. The beach is amazing and you can rent chairs and umbrellas on the beach or rent a chair from ESJ towers for $2.00. Towels are also furnished for you. Lots of additional activities on the beach.
Restaurants are located within walking distance and there are a variety of choices. You can cook in, order a pizza or go out to eat and just relax. Casino located next store with some upscale night life.
We are looking forward to returning next year. This would also be a good choice for a shorter pre cruise stay to relax before the busy cruise.
See you next year
No complaints with this accommodation. Exactly as advertised. Follow the expectations for care of the property outlined by the owner and I doubt you'll have any significant complaint here. The owners of this property provide crystal clear information to let renters know they expect you will respect their property while enjoying it. And from my perspective, that's perfect because you know you are renting a well cared for accommodation and everything is communicated up front. The building has a fine list of amenities. The unit and the building in general are kept very clean. The area has lots of restaurants, coffee shops and a grocery store within walking distance. Although the building is close to the airport we did not find this to b a problem. In fact after swimming all afternoon, our nine year old son liked to sit on the balcony and watch planes take off.We had lunch one day at the Lupi's restaurant just off the south end of the property and I had what might be the best pork burrito I've ever had in my life..and I had some good ones! We also ate at Hotties (my wife's choice!). Why they tart up their employees I just don't know - the food is a good enough draw and despite the unfortunate choice of staff "uniforms" the gals were all very nice and down to earth. Also not to be missed: Panadería y Repostería España. If you do not speak Spanish (we do not), don't be thrown off. It's a great place. A bit of a hike from the property but we walked nonetheless. Food and atmosphere: both awesome. They seems to have their own meat curing, their own bakery...quite an operation.
We loved our stay at the ESJ! The pictures are very accurate--the unit is clean and in good condition. The condo was spacious. It was nice to have the 2 bedrooms and living room versus going to a hotel. We were able to spread out and not feel so crowded like in a regular hotel room. The carpet is a little old but everything felt clean and fresh. The resort is one of the few in Carolina that is located right on the beach, which makes it easy for families with children who often go back and forth. Our girls (9 and 6) also LOVED the pool! The pool staff is helpful and always willing to set up chairs, umbrellas, etc. with a smile. The beach staff is the same way. It was nice not to have access to chairs, umbrellas to be set up on the beach. Also, great that you can order food/drinks at both the beach and pool area. The weather was perfect when we were there--the sky was so blue and the water too! The only complaints I have are that the fitness room is just ok--2 treadmills, 1 elliptical and free weights; it could have been better and needed some updating. A few upper body pieces of equipment. It wasn't terrible, just ok. Also, there are no organized activities for children, no family movie night by the pool, etc. that we have enjoyed at other resorts. They do play bingo at the pool every day so we did enjoy that. I think other activities would be well-received and appreciated. The life guard on the pool deck is great with the kids--my girls loved him. He works hard all day every day he is there. As for renting a car/getting around, we found Uber to be just fine. We avoided renting a car and paying the parking fee each day and used Uber for trips to dinner out, grocery store, and even church. Worked like a charm! One morning, we went next door for breakfast to the Marriot Court Yard--it was outstanding. Service was awesome and food was as well. We got there 45 min. before it opened (we couldn't find times of operation anywhere--just FYI it opens at 8a) and they let us in and made our food anyway! My husband got the breakfast flatbread (amazing!!) and I got an egg white omelets which was delicious as well.
We spent several glorious days at this beautiful condo. It was even better than described seeing is believing. Inside, homely and very comfortable. The kitchen is fully fitted with everything that is needed and the bathrooms had towels and hair dryers. The condo was spotlessly clean on arrival. Its location is perfect as you can be in downtown old san juan in about 10 minutes and then you can escape the madness and return to Heaven in a short space of time.
The beach is at your door step and the building has a really lovely park. We tried to get there every day and always brought a picnic lunch. Coming from a land-locked country the sight and sounds of the sea are always very special to us.
Outside, the pool area is an absolutely fantastic place to sit, from early morning with a coffee until late evening with a beer or a glass of wine after a tasty barbecue. It is such a relaxing place to be, watching the fish swimming in the ocean and even jumping. My husband and son saw a manta ray swimming past and our son was also lucky enough to see a manatee. We greeted the resident baby barracudas every morning and said goodnight to the resident starfish every night. Idyllic!
Suggestions for eating out: The Metropol Resturant was a place we enjoyed so much. It had authentic Puerto Rican food. The Mofongo there was soooo good. Another great place that we went to was called Oceano and it had very good sea food and meat plates.
An ferry trip to the Culebra is a must and it only cost $3.00 to get to the island. By far the most enjoyable and value for money trip had to have been for us the biobay tour which was in Fajardo for $75. Be prepared to get very wet though and it really would be a good idea to take some dry clothing. The water glows at night and it's just such an amazing experience.
Nancy was of the nicest, most genuine people we have ever had the good fortune to meet. It was always lovely to chat with her and she was very helpful when it came to trip suggestions and eating out. She us feel like friends, not guests and we hope that we can remain in contact even though we are back home in Austria.
We have already recommended this gorgeous condo to family and hope that they also take the opportunity to partake of this beautiful vacation home and its surroundings.
