Guestbook comments from the manager

This was the most perfect place for our family to stay and prepare for our son's wedding. We had a wonderful time and we were completely comfortable in your home. From my 87 year old mother taking over the "butler's quarters" - Mike & I having the bedroom next to her (just so I could keep an ear open for her during the night); to our 3 grandchildren taking over the upper bedroom and turning it into a dormitory; to our son/spouse, daughter/spouse and my sister each having the privacy of their own room.

Truly amazing place to stay. Highly recommend for a fabulous and unique stay, while visiting Duluth.

Amazing experience all around. Highly recommended. The manor is truly amazing and pics do not do the place enough justice. Plenty of room for bigger groups. Amazed at all the accomedies that the house had from a radio with a very nice CD music selection to a great selection of board games to play. Great location not to far from the strip for shopping and going out to eat. If you like history this place is a must. Has an awesome binder full of history on the place that is a must read. Every room in the manor is unique and has a lot of charm and character. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Duluth. Will definitely be returning again.

Amazing home, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We returned once again with two other couples for our Duluth get together at his amazing home. It is simply wonderful. There are rooms for comfortable sleeping and space to spend together as well as for a quiet reading get away. You are right next to the creek and can enjoy watching the deer. This is a wonderful gem. Enjoy, enjoy!

Our family enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Hawthorne Manor. We thought it would be the perfect house for a clue game! The sun room with the working fireplace gave us hours of laughs with warming our hearts. The spacious house lent itself to all of our needs. I would highly recommend Hawthorne Manor.

Well cared for home, great for large group.

  • 5 of 5

We rented Hawthorne Manor for Thanksgiving. We had a group of 9 and had so much room to hang out and enjoy the benefits of the home and surrounding walking trails. Perfect location to be close to shops but still have the sense of being in the country with the park so close. This home is very clean and equipped. Beds and linens are exceptional. We all felt at home the minute we arrived. Will definitely rent again. Manager made the renting process very easy.

We rented Hawthorne Manor for my sister wedding, my mom’s side of the family stayed there together. It was so homey and welcoming! We had the time of our lives and made great family memories! The caretakers were amazing to work with, we will for sure be coming back sometime soon!

Past and Present

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful home is tucked up against Congdon Park with deer running through the backyard and easy access to Superior Street, the UMD Campus, and nearby shopping. Out of the downtown district, it was a perfect place to sit on the deck and enjoy the fresh air and the company of family and friends.

The house is over 100 years old but has been updated with modern conveniences. With an updated kitchen and master bath, this older home kept all of its charm without losing the feeling of being in an early 20th century mansion. The well stocked kitchen has all of the utensils and "unpackables" to enable you to cook meals, just bring or buy your ingredients and off you go. Everything worked great, the house is well-maintained, and we had plenty of room for our large group to feel comfortable, not cramped, and to even lose track of people a few times when they snuck away to a back room with a book and a cup of coffee.

Having stayed at several VRBOs, this is one I would highly recommend!
