About Kathy Alonzo

I own, operate, and personally oversee three quality vacation rentals in the Fairbanks area: a downtown location that sleeps 2, a two bedroom log home that sleeps 4 in a quiet neighborhood, and a huge natural log home in a prime area for aurora viewing that sleeps 8.. I hosted guests at A Moose in the Garden B&B for 10 years before my grand baby arrived and changed my life's direction. I now have changed the B&B into a vacation rental and purchased other properties to provide QUALITY vacation homes for travelers from around the world. I have made so many friends over the years. It's not a job, it's a privilege to assist my guests.

I have been a primary school teacher for over 23 years and continue to teach. I love children and feel after all these years that I am now a grandma to them and love them like they are extended family.

Why Kathy Alonzo chose Fairbanks

The minute I walked into the house I felt an instant connection. The historical touches gave this place an immediate homey feel. I visited at different times of the day and found the area to be a quiet location. This property is perfect for a short term lease for travelers to the community for work or pleasure. Contact me directly about short term leases.

What makes this house unique

The advantage of staying here is the ability to find a lot of venues to eat, drink, shop, and be entertained within walking distance. It also is close to the events that are in the downtown area like the start of the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race, WIEO, Open North American Sled Dog Race, Iron Dog, and much more. The bus system is practically at your doorstep.

Historic and conveniently located

  • 5 of 5

This location was amazing. There aren't very many historic buildings in Fairbanks and this house is lovely as well as historic in feel. Right downtown, you can walk to the sites and restaurants downtown easily. Bed is incredibly comfortable. Nice kitchen area and comfortable living room area. Definitely a great place to stay and plan to stay there again on our next visit to Fairbanks.

Very nice home!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here! Since we did not rent a car while in Fairbanks, this home was just a block away from the bus station and we were able to access (with relative ease) all the places we wanted to go.

The perfect downtown get-away!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house! Logistically, it was perfect for my little family, gave us separate living and sleep space as well as a small kitchen with the bonus of a washer and dryer. The location is fantastic, within walking distance of downtown attractions, and driving distance of everything else. Kathy was a great hostess and was very helpful.

The icing on the cake though is the atmosphere. There is a small landscaped yard, and the house has a welcoming homey feel. The decorations are adorable, and everything about this house was welcoming. It was easy to think of this as our Fairbanks home in the time we stayed there. We can not recommend this house enough, and definitely hope to visit again someday.

Best decision ever!

  • 4 of 5

Thank you, Kathy for sharing your home. It was right where we needed to be to get around Fairbanks. We found so many great eating places, The Cooki Jar, Chena's Alaskan Grill to just name a few. Your home was so peaceful and quiet even though it was right in downtown. Hopefully we can come back in the winter sometime.

Owner's Response: Thank you Pauline! I really enjoy time spent cleaning and working on the yard at this downtown property. I have friendly business neighbors and enjoy helping them out when I can with snow removal, mowing, etc. The downtown area is a wonderful place to stay and I see so many tourists walking about when I am out in the yard. There is a gift shop and restaurants right next door with so much more within walking distance. I too, enjoy how quiet and peaceful it is. I may just have to retire to this sweet home someday. It is the perfect size! Kathy
