Fabulous gîte in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this gîte for 3 nights in November 2016. We were met by our host Benjamin who was very helpful. The gîte itself was comfortable and well equipped with a compact yet practical kitchen. The location was perfect - close to the historic centre of beautiful Beaune yet whisper quiet. The parking spot was a real bonus. Would highly recommend.

Lovely apartment, fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely place to stay. We were only there for two nights but are already thinking of a longer stay next time we visit. The location was spectacular - steps away from municipal parking, the main tourist sites and the market square. The bathrooms are moderns, clean and comfortable. The terrace is just fantastic.

Good location, clean and modern apartment

  • 4 of 5

Four of us stayed at this apartment for three nights. The apartment is very clean, sunny and modern. In particular the showers are very nice, and the terrace is a great space for relaxing with a glass of wine. Wifi signal is very good. The kitchen is on the smaller side but is well stocked – good for light meals. Benjamin is a thoughtful and welcoming host and gave us several excellent dining recommendations. We didn’t have a car, so were happy that the gite is so well situated – the central part of town is reachable by foot within minutes, but you can also easily walk to the many restaurants and shops outside of the ring road, including a supermarket. It’s also just a short walk (10-15 min.) or bike ride to the start of the veloroute/bike path which winds through the scenic vineyards south of Beaune—well worth a visit (or two). Although it easily sleeps 4, the apartment did feel a bit cramped at times, but it was still fine for a three-night stay. I think it would be better suited for 2 people for longer stays. Beaune is a great base from which to explore Burgundy, and I would recommend this gite to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient "home" in Beaune.

Wonderful gite in Beaune

  • 5 of 5

We spent a month in this apartment, from mid-March to mid-April, mostly as a couple but for five days with two additional people. It is very conveniently located just along the ramparts, with the central market square just a 3-minute walk and a large supermarket just a 10-minute walk in the other direction. The roof top terrace is an awesome place to sit with your breakfast, lunch or evening glass of wine. Our host, Benjamin, was very responsive to questions and requests, and even took us along to a wine-tasting and impromptu vineyard tour our first weekend. He has also stocked the apartment with informational materials about local activities. An indication of his thorough and thoughtful approach to setting up the apartment is that he provides a notebook with the operating instructions for all appliances. Pretty much every item in the apartment is well thought out and of the highest quality. (He is a little short on water glasses, although there are more than enough wine glasses.) Free off-street parking is just 20 meters away and nearly always available, or at least was this time of year. A small car is best as you drive in on a very narrow dead end lane and have to do a three-(or more)-point-turn to turn around to drive back out. A larger pay parking lot is also very close as is additional free parking. There is almost no vehicular traffic by the apartment and only limited foot traffic, so it is very quiet.

Broadband wi-fi signal is very strong and reliable throughout the apartment and has very good upload and download speeds. Good cable TV too, with most channels in French. Kitchen is small but very well equipped for cooking for two. It is a bit more of a challenge for four due to the absence of a full-size oven (combo microwave-convection oven works well for small portions though). Beds are comfortable and bathrooms well designed. The showers have plenty of hot water and a good flow. Excellent washing machine and drying rack to set up on the terrace (or indoors if necessary). There is only one toilet, which is due to space limitations and is fine for two occupants but a little inconvenient for four, especially for the upstairs bedroom occupants coming downstairs in the middle of the night to use. The stairs are a bit steep, so could be a challenge for older people to negotiate although the downstairs bedroom is also quite good. All-in-all, a wonderful place to stay and we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Compact apartment in the centre of Beaune

  • 4 of 5

Compact, comfortable and clean-ish. Lovely private roof terrace. Very well positioned for visiting Beaune and touring vineyards by bike. Good quality equipment and fittings. Lots of things were looking a little tired, but Benjamin said he is going to do some refurbishment this Autumn.

Extremely kind, helpful, flexible host, who rented us bikes and gave us all the information we needed about Beaune etc etc.
