Overview

About the property

3 bedrooms, 1 3/4 bathrooms, sleeps 8

Historic 1940's log cabin. Four Season, cozy chalet in traditional log cabin style on the shores of the non-motorized and unique Lac Pierre Aubin. The home sits in a sunny glen surrounded by an acre of woods with a stream flowing through the property. A private path leads down the hiil and across our bridge to the sandy beach with swimming dock, picnic tables, volleyball net, swings and seesaws for kids. We have a private dock, and pedal boat and row boat provided for lake access. Campfire site by the lake. Lake stocked with trout. Lots of wildlife. Canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, tennis and road cycling.

In the winters, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and skating. Alpine skiing at 15 resorts; as close as 5 minutes (Mt. Avalanche), 15 minutes to Morin-Heights (our favorite) 20 minutes to Saint Sauveur hills and 50 minutes to Mt. Tremblant. Nearby: Spas, restaurants, shopping nearby.

House 1200 sq. ft and features a rustic living room with large stone fireplace, sunny dining room with large table for 8.

Sleeps 8 in peaceful cozy comfort: The large stone fireplace is perfect for cozy evenings and early mornings. There are beamed ceilings and hardwood floors throughout the home. The kitchen looks out over the lake and is especially beautiful in the late afternoon when you can enjoy the sunset. A large dining room overlooking the lake is perfect for family meals. Down duvets, down pillows and quality mattresses in all the bedrooms. The downstairs bedroom features a full-size bunk-bed and sleeps 4. Open the window and listen to the stream outside. Downstairs newly remodeled 3/4 bath has washer/dryer. Upstairs, the bedroom overlooking the lake has 2 twin beds nestled under dormer windows. Let the bullfrogs sing you to sleep. Our master bedroom has a mahogany four-poster bed and walnut dresser. Through open windows enjoy the silence of the woods and the call of the loons. Full size bath upstairs. The whole house is snug and warm in the winter.

Get away, relax and unplug: This is an ideal spot to get away from everything. We've chosen to 'unplug' ourselves and the kids: there's no TV or internet service in this getaway spot. You WILL find games, books and lots reasons to get outside or stay in and curl up in a cozy spot with a book or for a chat. We bring along our laptops and watch DVD's there.

When we need to 'check-in', St Adolphe d'Howard is a short 10 minute drive through the woods. The village has several café's, restaurants/boulangeries, video rental, library (with internet to check in), clinic and pharmacy. Spa d'Howard is 12 minutes from our place, tucked next to a river and offers full spa amenities and outdoors salt-water spa. Other Nordic spas (Ofuro, Le Refuge, Le Baltique) are within 20 minute drive. St. Sauveur and St Agathe are 20 minutes from our house with everything they both offer.

It takes a day or two to slow down to 'cabin speed' but even our teenagers like the change of pace!

Enjoy the beautiful Laurentians: Our lake is unique; it has a community and swim beach on the east end, and no roads or development on the west end. With a short 10 minute paddle you are enjoying quiet Canadian woods mingling with beavers, otters and loons. The lake is stocked with trout for good fishing. The large sandy beach with it's floating dock to dive from is unusual for a northwoods lake and carefully maintained. It is for Domaine members only, and as our guests it is yours to enjoy.

Once you leave our quiet corner, you will find that St Adolphe is in the heart of the Laurentian mountains, well-known for its vacation activities. Biking along the Petite Train du Norde, Go-Carts, Water-parks, Horseback riding, ATV (VTT) rentals, pontoon, motorboat and sailboat rentals. Hiking, golfing, tennis, rollerblading and skateboard park, jet-skiing, and camping are some of the activities nearby. During winter months in town there is are community skating rinks with skate rentals, hockey and hot beverages. Snow shoe rentals and miles of trails are also available. Snowmobile rentals in town.

Year-round spas, antique stores, restaurants (serving both local specialties and international fare), boutiques and specialty shops are everywhere.

Back to Simplier Times

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently enjoyed a week at this chalet. The owner was very helpful in response to all our questions. The chalet is, as described, charming. We were cozy and warm sitting infront of the big stone fireplace in the livingroom. The kitchen is very well equipped and we ate in the bright diningroom looking out the big picture windows at the beautiful property. There was a BBQ and deck off the diningroom and I am sure it would be lovely to sit out there and look over the lake in the summer. We were at the chalet in the winter and took the opportunity to go downhill skiing in St. Sauveur and snowshoeing at the Centre de plein air St. Adolphe d'Howard. At the end of the week the weather was not too "cooperative" so we spent our time relaxing, working on puzzles, playing cards, reading books. As the title says, back to Simplier times. I am sure it would be a lovely spot, no mater what the season.

Cottage charm and tranquility on the lake

  • 5 of 5

First I would like to say thank you to the owner and her representative for being so accommodating and a pleasure to deal with, The cottage is a real charm, the fireplace, the bedding, the 2 bathrooms, large dining area and of course the location. the private path to the beach, another path to a private dock, from where we enjoyed rowing out on the beautiful lake, location is very private and so tranquil, its only short drive to surrounding villages, and to think this gem in the laurentiens is only also a short drive from Montreal, would surely love to return and would highly recommend.

Relaxing and quiet lakefront chalet

  • 5 of 5

Ginni accomodated my family for a last minute getaway. We really enjoyed ourselves in her nice lakefront chalet and the kids had a blast swimming at the private beach and fishing in the rowboat. The house was cozy and clean with all necessities. I really appreciated being able to fully unplug with no internet or TV distraction. We were greeted by the housekeeper who made us feel at home. I would definitely recommend this place!

Very enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here twice and have enjoyed ourselves very much. First time was 4 nights Easter weekend 2014; second time was 4 nights end of August 2015. Nice to experience the cottage/chalet in 2 seasons. In the Spring we made use of the amazing fireplace; it was very easy to light and made the living room very nice and cozy. In August we spent a lot of time by the water at the beach. Excellent for young children. We particularly like the dining room and this newer section of the cottage. Very nice for family dining. Also enjoyed ourselves by the fire pit.

March break ski trip

  • 5 of 5

Lovely place and fantastic value! Just a short drive to the ski hills of St sauveur and Morrin Hights. The fireplace was lovely to come back to at the end of a day of skiing. Good communication with the owner and the women who takes care of things for her. I'm sure we'll be back

On the shores of a quiet wildlife-rich lake in the heart of the Laurentian mountains. The area is reknown for it's beauty and vacation opportunities: art and music festivals, hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, horseback riding, water-parks and boating in the summer; skiing, skating, sleigh-rides and snowmobiling in the winter. Close to 15 ski resorts ranging from smaller local resorts, to great family-friendly mid-resorts to world class skiing on Mt. Tremblanc. Many spas in the area for deep relaxation.

Our charming log cabin is a 10 minute drive through woods from the little town of St Adolphe d'Howard with restaurants, internet café and concerts in the park. Located on Lac St. Joseph, there are motorboat, pontoon and canoe rentals for use there and other lakes through the connecting river. The charming towns of Saint-Sauveur and Sainte Agathe are nearby with restaurants and shops.

Other Activities: spa, snowmobiling, ice-skating
