Ideal for taking parents or friends as both are self contained Thirty minutes scenic drive from Limassol and twenty minutes drive to beaches.
Akapnou is a small village in the foothills of the Troodos Mountains with superb views all round.
About 2kms away is a mountain golf course (Vikla) where all are welcome. Very popular.
All rooms are air conditioned and heated. Each apartment is independent with full kitchen and dining areas. Outside in the large courtyard there are vines, Barbecue areas and outside dining..
Private swimming pool 5 by 10 metres with plenty of tables, chairs and sun beds with large umbrellas. There is a toilet and shower next to the pool. Flowers and palm trees in the floodlit pool area make it quite romantic.
The garden has palm trees, flowers, grapevines and a mandarin tree. Superb views all round.
Nestled in the hills of the picturesque village of Vikla, 2 kms from Akapnou , is Vikla Golf & Country Club, where you are invited to play a round or two of golf against a backdrop of spectacular beauty.
Wheel chair access to the courtyard can be made via a ramp The ground floor apartment has large doors through which a wheelchair can go through.
However there are steps with a rail to get to the swimming pool
I can now also offer evening meals of your choice to be served in the house or in the courtyard .Cypriot style. Arrangements can be made whenever it suits you
Both my parents were Greek Cypriot. I was born in London but brought up in the Greek culture.
I am very involved in Cyprus as I own a Greek Bookshop in London, which is unique. Hellenic Bookservice. In addition to stocking books on everything Greek I specialise on Cyprus.
monica williams purchased this house in 2001
My husband and myself wanted to purchase a house, in a village, which we could restore. It had to be close to Limassol with its fine beaches and also close to the cosmopolitan life of Limassol and Larnaca. We opened the doors to the courtyard and got no further. We were completely overwhelmed. Little did we know that it would take us fifteen years to fully restore.
We later bought the land next to it so that we could build the swimming pool.
It is unique . Beautiful views. Because of the size of the property we were able to built a complete outside eating area .. We have let it out to some local Cypriots who the same as us love it to escape from the bustling towns of Limassol, Larnaca and Nicosia.
It is very traditional but at the same time very comfortable. Somewhere to escape to.
Although it is in the lower Troodos mountains it has a wonderful climate .
We now have a lovely swimming pool it was very important to us that we could still get to the sea to swim. We now have the best of both worlds as you can spend a few hours or just the day in either.
It also helps that it is such a lovely journey to the beach wherever it is.
To me there is no place like it. It has everything, peace and quiet with the bustling towns of Limassol and Larnaca within easy reach.
There are so many places that you can get to from Akapnou.
The swimming pool is wonderful with a very powerful shower and night-time lighting.
It is a place to get rid of stress. We can completely unwind the moment we enter the courtyard.
Every time we leave we are planning our next trip. Unfortunately being a bookseller specialising in Greece and Cyprus as well as Latin and Ancient Greek we cannot get away very easily in the summer because it is our busy period.
However Cyprus has such a long season that even at the beginning of Deember it is still warm.
There are now cheap flights from many places in Europe.
We are known in all the local village tavernas - restuarants - who really take care of us and all our guests.
Because of where it is situated there is something for everyone from the sea to the mountains. For guests that like a quiet life and those who like to live it up in the lively towns of Limassol and Larnaca.
Just returned from a fantastic 10 days in Cyprus, staying in Monica's great holiday home. We wanted somewhere quiet, away from the tourist traps but within easy reach of all the sights and attractions that Cyprus has to offer. That's exactly what were got in Akapnou.
July is hot - we had thought that being in the foothills of Troodos might have kept things cool but it was still hitting 35c so the swimming pool was used every day (a must for our 3 year old).
Akapnou is a very sleepy (but charming) village about 30 minutes north of Limassol. We had lots on our To Do list (including heading north over the green line) and it was a great base camp location. The roads, although steep in places, are in really good condition and you certainly don't need a 4x4 unless you plan to head to the Akama or Karpaz Peninsulas.
The house is made of 3 apartments (I think) but we were the only ones staying there and had full use of the pool and courtyard area. The apartment is fully equipped with kitchen, sitting room, indoor and outdoor tables, bathroom (there is a shower in the bathroom but the shower by the pool was even better), and there were plenty of card games and books ready for a rainy day (we never needed them!). Although Akapnou didn't have any shops or restaurants of its own, it is within 5 minutes drive of lots of other little villages that do so we had some really delicious meals. One thing which was missing was a guest comments book which would let guests share their tips, but the owner Monica gave us all the information we could possibly have needed before we arrived so we were all set.
It would not be a complete review without mentioning how exceptionally helpfully Monica was in all aspects of the stay. Monica lives in London but sees Akapnou as her home from home. She answered all emails right away during the booking process, was able to advise us on what to do, where to do it, shopping, cooking, eating, beaches etc etc etc, and was on hand via mobile connection Monica also has a very helpful cleaner, Maria, who comes once a week and also did a quick shop for us before we arrived so we would have some supplies for breakfast.
All in all, a great holiday home which made for a hugely enjoyable 10 days.
Everything was simply perfect!! The house is traditional with all the amenities offered ,very well-maintained and the owner more than willing to provide us the best customer service, every time we stay at this house for our vacations.(we choose this house every Easter for the last 4 years and for the last 5 summers)
I would undoubtly recommend this property to my friends!!
Were supposed to stay in the house with another couple, but at the end had it all to ourselves...The house is great, the pool is amazing and beautiful beaches are 35-40 minutes away !Very quiet and detached location and the only sound in the air came from the crickets... Monica was very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time.

We loved it here, had the place to ourselves and couldn't have been happier.
The pool is amazing swimming by the moonlight with the water just perfect, so romantic.
The beds were comfortable even with my back!
Air conditioning worked well and is a must if you come from a cooler climate as Cyprus is luxuriously warm.
Getting to the coast is easy, Cyprus does have amazing beaches.
Although land locked the capital Nicosia is amazing to visit too at especially in the evening when everyone seems to come out. Then being able to go back to Monica’s amazing house and have a sleep in.
The people of Cyprus are kind hearted and generous take time to talk to them and you’ll be making plans to come back before you even left.
A lovely, large villa, situated in the foothills of the Troodos range of mountains of Cyprus. Nicely furnished with a fabulous swimming pool, the environs are perfect for those who like to walk; and for those who prefer to "ruin" one, there's a golf course close by. The village of Akapnou is charming, and its residents equally so. Highly recommended, though car-hire is essential.
This is the place and people to vacation by!
I highly recommend staying here. Monica was a pleasure to deal with, and the price was very affordable.
It's such a beautifully and homey villa- it's traditional, which we LOVED- and it's so tastefully furnished with beautiful wood ceilings and wood trim everywhere. Imagine a very fancy cabin in the heat of summer. The house is very airy as it as doors and windows everywhere. The air conditioning in every room helps!
We especially loved the grapes outside hanging- they were DELICIOUS!
Monica and Fred left us with tons of tourist books, maps, games, CDS, and novels.
The pool was clear and clean, and came with everything Monica says and more.
The house is located in the most traditional, charming village- we absolutely fell in love with the villagers, who were so warm and inviting.
It was such a pleasant getaway with out the hustle bustle of city life where we were able to just sit back and enjoy- AND IT'S SUCH A CLOSE DRIVE TO EVERYTHING!
Monica and Fred- thank you for a lovely vacation- We'll let you know when we can afford to come visit again!
We enjoyed our stay at this villa. It has very flexible accommodation according to the make up of the party. It is ideal for an away from it all holiday in a very quiet mountain village. It is very well equipped and the owner has been very helpful to ensure that people's needs are accommodated. The pool and courtyard make a very pleasant place to relax. A car is essential to enjoy the varied landscapes in the surrounding area. The owner was very welcoming and someone who it is a pleasure to do business with.
The local restaurants were very welcoming too, but with such a well equipped kitchen and the courtyard it was a pleasure to eat in also.
Akapnou has everything.
Ideally placed for mountain and sea and the towns of Limassol Larnaca and Paphos.
The roads are superb with wonderful views in all directions.
There is a mountain route to the capital -Nicosia. Visits to Archaeological sites, vineyards, famous churches, beach resorts with their many restaurants including Governors Beach famous for its fish restaurants and safe swimming.
The main towns have cinemas theatres and museums. Superb shopping in Limassol where there is a new 'Mall' with a vast array of stores. Akapnou is the perfect place for walking with all round fantastic scenery. Limassol has now completed a 16 km sea walk with cafes all along at intervals. You can hire bicycles on the front.
Should you need more information about Cyprus the owners own a Greek Bookshop in London called 'The Hellenic Bookservice'. The specialist bookshop in everything Greek including Cyprus
Vikla golf course is 2 kms away. All are welcome.
We now have a new bakery and take away 2 kms away from the house. Also a restaurant and a small supermarket
