Comfortably sleeps 6 plus two full sized sofas in the living room. New hi definition TV's, cable, Wi-Fi. Central air, wrap around deck. The canal leads out to Pine Chanel. Just a short scenic boat ride to the ocean or the Gulf. Lots of uninhabited islands to explore. Rent a kayak and have it delivered to you. Bike rental available as well. Miles of bike paths to explore. The island also has a park with tennis courts, basketball courts and a playground. Explore the Blue Hole on the island. An old rock quarry dug for the Flagler railroad that has turned into a habitat.
We like to think of this house and its location as "fancy camping". You are right in the middle of a deer preserve. There is actually a wooded area right across the street.
The house is located on the northern most tip of Big Pine Key. It is remote enough to be surrounded by uninhabited islands that are just a short boat ride or kayak away. Despite that, shopping and groceries are just a short drive from the house.
This home is wonderful. It's immaculate, peaceful and contains everything you need for a great vacation. Leo responds immediately if you have a question. The outside deck is the perfect place to relax and read a book.
The place is very comfortable and quiet. It is the best equipped rental property we have ever stayed in. We had breakfast every morning on the spaces deck and enjoyed the evening visits from Bambi and her friends. Price was right and left us a few bucks to get stupid on Duval Street.
We enjoyed this vacation so much! The fishing in the canal was a trip saver and a lot of fun. Our little girl is a sweet soul and the deer would come up to her and let her touch them every day. The house , deck, porch, and location was perfect for our family!
We had a great vacation at Captain D's Hideout. The layout is nice with bedrooms on opposite ends of house. Two full baths and a washer & dryer are always a great convenience. There were indeed key deer on the property every single day. They are not afraid and will walk right up to you. I assume because people feed them even though it is illegal. Short walk to the end of the cross street to watch amazing sunsets. There is a little community park there with benches. We rented bicycles and kayaks which was a great idea. Bike ride tot he blue hole to check out the gator every morning. We kayaked out to watch the sunset a couple night. The canal is a short distance to open, very calm water. The property was clean and well maintained. Leo was very responsive to all of my questions. I needed to know if we had to bring a cooler, beach chairs, and beach towels and Leo got back to me right away to let me know that these items are not at the property. Everything else we needed for a comfortable stay was in the home. We eat most meals in and the kitchen was stocked nicely. Short drive to Bahia Honda which is my favorite beach in the keys. No Name Pub is close by. Boondocks is a fun place for lunch, play a game of mini golf to work up an appetite. I would definitely stay here again.
House was lovely. Wished the house had a couple of bikes and an ice chest.
My wife and I spent Thanksgiving week at the Captain D's Hideout, this was a great spot to hang out and visit the keys. Speed limits are ridiculous but we were not in a hurry, just went with island time. The house is great has all that one would want, every thing was very clean and organized. There are a few things that really stood out to me, this is a house that the owners use, so 1st ( the bed was fantastic, I got good sleep on it, I use a Tempurpedic and for a box spring this was great. ) 2nd ( the kitchen area was super clean, even the fridge was spotless ) 3rd ( this has been the only place I have gone and all the video equipment worked as it should have, I had to call the owner and he was happy to help and all went as he implied. ) The supermarket down the street has just about everything you will need, there are also RedBox's at the supermarket along with the drug store. Key-West is about an hour or 35 miles down the road. My wife and I work a lot of hours running an industrial supply company and we deal with lots of people daily and when we go on vacation we really like to go to a quiet place and relax, this location was great for that. Plenty of room around the house and in the house. I would highly recommend for someone who wants to have a beautiful place to stay and have piece of mind.
Your stay is right in the middle is a deer preserve and yet all your needed conveniences are nearby.

CHECK-IN TIME is AFTER 3 P.M. EST AND CHECKOUT is 10 A.M. EST. NO Early Check-in or late checkout. Arrangements may be made in advance for such if it does not interfere with another renters check in or check out.

PETS are not permitted in rental units under any conditions.
DAMAGE/RESERVATION DEPOSIT - A reservation deposit of $300 is required. This must be received within five (5) days of booking the reservation. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within (14) days of departure, provided the following provisions are met.
• No damage is done to unit or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear.
• No charges are incurred due to contraband, pets or collection of rents or services rendered during the stay.
• All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in trash, and soiled dishes are placed in the dishwasher and cleaned.
• All keys are left in the lock box and unit is left locked.
• All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure.
• No linens are lost or damaged.
• NO early check-in or late checkout.
• The renter is not evicted by the owner (or representative of the owner), or the local law enforcement.
CANCELLATIONS - A sixty (60) day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date will incur no penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the reservation deposit. Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent.
MONTHLY RESERVATION CANCELLATIONS – Monthly renters must cancel ninety (90) days prior to check-in. Monthly renters who make a change that results in a shortened stay must be made at least
