About the property

Set On A Private Acre On Meeting Lane, One Of The Most Coveted Locations

Set on a private and nicely landscaped acre with a lovely separate and fenced, saltwater pool, a brick patio for outdoor dining and a large totally fenced yard for playing, it is an 8-minute walk to Atlantic or Indian Wells beaches and an easy walk to Amagansett Square. The Jitney stop and The Amagansett train station are less than a 10 minute walk. This is one of THE BEST locations in the Hamptons!

This 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath beach house offers the perfect August vacation. The original house was enhanced by the addition of a private second-floor master suite, featuring a bedroom with a cathedral ceiling and a queen size bed, a full bath with a walk-in shower, a separate office/den and an open porch. Off the kitchen, there is another bedroom suite, with a queen size bed, a full bath and a small bedroom with a trundle bed. The North end of the house has three bedrooms, one with a queen and its own half bath and two with twin beds, and a hall bath. This house sleeps 11 in comfortable beds, plus a sofa bed in the upstairs den.

Built in 1975, over the last 20 years, the whole house has been enlarged, completely renovated and redesigned. The bathrooms and kitchen were renovated within the last three years. The kitchen has marble countertops, a separate bar area with a wine cooler, Fisher Paykel fridge, Berntazzoni stove and a large counter open to the dining room which can accommodate 12. The sliding door in the dining room leads to an appealing brick patio with a teak table for 12 and most of our meals happen there. The patio also has an extremely comfortable teak sofa and side chairs so most of our evenings are spent outside! It is the ideal house for entertaining and the indoor-outdoor living in this home his extremely appealing. The living room is large, bright and comfortable with seating for 10+ and a fireplace, bookcases, television and a cathedral ceiling with shed windows.

The house has central air conditioning, cable TV, internet and an outdoor shower.

One of the appealing features of Amagansett is that there is something for everyone. In addition to being close to two fabulous ocean beaches, Meeting House Lane is a short (10 minute) drive to many bay beaches, hiking trails, and bike paths. The bay beaches are perfect for swimming, fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding. It's also a 10-minute ride into the village of East Hampton, with its many lovely shops, restaurants, art galleries and a movie theater.

Over the last twenty years, we have enlarged, renovated, redesigned and updated the house completely, appreciating its fabulous location every minute!

About Carol Brown

My husband and I live in Pelham, NY and spend weekends and the month of July in Amagansett. I work in real estate in Pelham and my husband is retired.

Carol Brown purchased this house in 1996

Why Carol Brown chose Amagansett North

Over the years, we had owned other houses in East Hampton, so we knew the community and exactly the location we wanted. We chose "the Lanes", and Meeting House Lane in particular, because it is exceptionally quiet and yet amazingly convenient. I was expecting my first grandchild and I wanted a "grandmother" house, a house from which we could walk the baby..to the beach, town, playground. The "baby" is now 21 and he takes credit for our buying this house! All our children and grandchildren love to spend as much time as they can at "wild wings", and my husband I love every minute of it!

I would have bought this house sight-unseen, because of its location, but my husband thought perhaps we should go inside. We walked in the front door and my decision was confirmed! It was in excellent condition, we could just move right in and the property was amazingly private and large enough for a pool. And it was just where we wanted to be!

What makes this house unique

The unique benefit of the location is that you can walk to two ocean beaches, walk into town, it's a short drive into the town of East Hampton and a ten minute drive to any bay beach. It is an 8 minute walk to the Jitney or to the train station in Amagansett. Our property, on nearly an acre, is on a "cul de sac driveway" with three other one acre properties, so it doesn't even face the street. The landscaping is such, that the backyard and pool are completely private.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We came from Cape Cod and rented this house with our friends from New Jersey. It was the perfect week. We loved the house, it was spacious, comfortable and charming and we walked to the beach or to the Farmer's Market every morning. The kitchen was so well equipped that we felt obligated to cook. We look froward to doing this again!

My husband, two children (ages 5 and 10) and I spent the first two weeks of July at this house and we all had such a good time! First of all, the location - we could walk to two ocean beaches, walk into Amagansett Square and drive in 5-10 minutes to a variety of bay beaches. Secondly, the house - the kitchen was a true chef's kitchen (my husband loves to cook and grill), with great appliances and all the equipment you could ever use. The bedrooms were exceptionally comfortable, the bathrooms were all new and the living room (with large TV, apple TV etc) was lovely. Thirdly, the property - it couldn't have been better for our children and dog. It was completely fenced and the pool was separately fenced, so the kids were free to play in the yard without our worrying. The pool was lovely, heated, salt water with a great patio. There was a brick patio right off the dining room/kitchen and we ate most of our meals there. It was really a wonderful two weeks---for all of us.

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I are retired and are now living in a condo in Florida. Our 3 grown kids and our young grandchildren are pretty much scattered acroaa the country, so we don't see then as often as we'd like to.

We decided to rent a place for a couple of weeks in September where we could be together with some or all of them for a least a week. We knew it had to be in a location where there were lots of activities and preferably "cool" enough so they would want to come.

Luckily we found the perfect location and the perfect house, 150 Meeting House Lane in Amagansett - less than 5 miles from the Village of East Hampton and near the beach. And they all came!

The house worked really well for our needs - enough bedrooms and baths for everyone, including a master suite on the second floor for us - beautifully furnished, with an outdoor dining patio, large yard and modern swimming pool. What we all enjoyed most was the easy walk to both the ocean beaches and the town, relaxing at the pool and shopping in East Hampton.

There was something for everyone and we all could do our own thing. Perfect for the whole family!

Hampton film festival week

  • 5 of 5

For the last few years we have stayed at 150 Meeting House Lane for the Hamptons Film Festival and it has been great. It is on the Columbus Day weekend, so a bit too late for us to enjoy the pool, but still warm enough for us to take advantage of the out of doors. We are able to eat outside, walk to the beach..the walk to Atlantic beach and return from Indian Wells, is the perfect morning walk..walk into town for coffee or lunch and then it's an easy 8 minute drive into East Hampton for the films.

We've enjoyed cooking most of our meals in the beautiful and exceptionally well equipped kitchen. The bedroom layout is perfect for 4 couples, the beds are comfortable and it is well stocked with bed linens and towels. The bathrooms have all been recently renovated, so they are a pleasure.

All in all, we've loved staying there and look forward to the day when we can rent it in the summer and enjoy the wonderful pool!

Car: recommended

Amagansett is a village in the town of East Hampton. East Hampton town is about 8 minutes from the house and it has great shops, restaurants, art galleries and a multi-plex cinema. The village of Amagansett is just about 10 miles from Montauk which has great seafood restaurants, docks, ferries and charter fishing trips. There are marvelous "walking dunes" on the way to Montauk, with great hiking trails leading to the bay. There's lots of opportunity for biking, as the island is famously flat!

The ocean beaches of the Hamptons are world famous and there are two within easy walking distance from our house, Atlantic, and Indian Wells. For kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, swimming, sunset watching, shell collecting, and beach walking there are many bay beaches, just an 8-10 minute drive.

The very best part of our location is that once we are there, we barely use the car! We could even walk to the supermarket if we didn't have too much to carry home! Otherwise, we walk or bike everywhere.
