Perfect family beach house

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this beach house. It was perfect for our annual family trip to visit PawPaw. He lives nearby but doesn't have enough room for all of us. The pool and hot tub were great and we really loved the outside shower for the kids. A bathroom for everyone was a plus too. Jen texted during our stay to make sure we were doing okay. She even apologized for the stormy weather, which of course wasn't her fault! We will definitely stay there again!

The PERFECT Beach House!

  • 5 of 5

I fell in love with this home as soon as we arrived! Its decorated beautifully and has everything you need for a nice, relaxing vacation. We are a family of 4 and brought my mother with us. Our boys shared the bunk room and the adults had their own room and bathroom which was so nice. Plenty of room for everyone! We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and picnic area. Spent a lot of time out there. Having the fridge downstairs was a big plus as well as the grill. We had lunch at the picnic table most days. The beach is a short walk or golf cart ride away. There is a public beach access straight ahead where you can park your golf cart if you rent or bring one. Never had a problem finding parking there. There's also restaurants, shops, and grocery store right down the road. Jen was super nice and always a call or text away if I had any questions.

In a another review, I read that previous renters were annoyed by the alarm on the back door. Being a mother of two boys, one with epilepsy that has wandered out of the house before during a seizure without our knowledge, this was a real blessing to have! Its positioned high enough that he could not reach it to turn it off so if he did walk out I was alerted. Yes, its loud but who cares when this could potentially save a life!! I didn't even know they made such alarms and this was just an added bonus and piece of mind to our stay here.

I would like to thank Jen and her husband for sharing their lovely home with us and hope that we will be able to stay here again soon. After posting pictures of all of the fun we were having last week on facebook, several friends messaged me wanting info on this home. I highly recommend The Sandy Lizard if you are looking for a laid back, relaxing, and carefree vacation!!

Looking forward to next year!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house when we came to Myrtle Beach for Bike Week. This is a beautiful, new home with all of the amenities. I loved having my morning coffee sitting out on the porch every morning. Plenty of room to relax whether you're upstairs in the main living area or just hanging out in the pool/jacuzzi area. Fully stocked kitchen & there is a fridge and grill in the pool area which is a huge convenience especially if you have kids with you. Quick & easy walk to public access to the beach. Close to grocery store and shopping. This is a nice, quiet neighborhood and the neighbors were friendly. This home is well maintained and the pool company was there several times during the week of our stay. We had a very enjoyable week with no problems. Looking forward to coming back next year! I would definitely recommend this place for a stay at Myrtle Beach.

Excellent choice for vacation. Beautiful new home with a great outdoor space.

  • 5 of 5

It was nice starting our mornings with coffee sitting by the pool enjoying the breeze. It was very relaxing. We liked returning from a fun day on the beach and cooling off in the back yard in the pool. Even in July we enjoyed our evenings outside around the pool and in the hot tub. This house is walking distance to the beach and very convienient to restaurants and the grocery store. One of our group members ended up on crutches before our trip but we were able to rent a golf cart at a very reasonable rate to help get her back and forth to the beach. I would highly recommend this rental to my friends. Jen was easy to work with and readily available for any questions. She was quick to respond upon booking and quick to refund security deposit upon check out. Thank you Jen, You have a lovely home. I hope all your quests treat it like their own home so we can enjoy it for many years to come.

Awesome rental and great owners

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here and this place is so beautiful, new and has a great pool and jacuzzi, had a blast walked to the beach enjoyed the pool area with its own fridge so we didn't have to go upstairs. The neighbors were even great and helpful with thing in the local area to do and see.

The inside is so finely decorated you can feel the love inside this place and the attention to detail from the owners whi were very easy to work with.

I have already recommended to friends and family and planned another trip next year.

Two thumbs up here!!

Sadly, we won't be renting this house again...

  • 2 of 5

Just a little past insight, my parents have been renting beach houses in SC for 30+ years, including VRBO and other rental companies. First and foremost, be prepared to give a list of names and ages of all the people staying in this house. Please know that the owners will know what you have the AC set on at all times. They dont specify these things but you need to know to turn all fans on high and set the thermostat to *at least* July....while its 90 degrees outside with a high heat index. Make sure you know that the outdoor shower has NO WATER PRESSURE and the hot tub will have sand in the bottom of it.There is also a very annoying alarm that goes off everytime someone goes outside and comes inside the back door. And they also have all the neighbors keeping a close eye on you. However, the description on this house wont tell you those things. We were accused of having a pet in the house because the house keepers deemed what they thought was pet hair. Which makes us chuckle because there wasnt a dog yet somehow the neighbors also confirmed that we had a dog. Along with that, because of all of the lint and fuzz off the rug and the dust created by the dryer, my mother had to spend much of her vacation time sweeping multiple times a day along with cleaning just to make sure we kept this new house at the best condition. We hauled 7 people and a child to the beach, in which we were also falsly accused of over exceeding our 8 person occupancy, (assuming because of the amount of cars we had from everyone wanting to be able to leave whenever and freedom to go as they please on vacation) which again was an accusation from our neighbors. We had family members who left in the middle of the week and members who came and took their spot. These things resulted in us not receiving our damage deposit back. However, after emails with the owner we were able to persuade her otherwise and we were refunded. The so called "dog fur" that he housekeepers say they saw was actually from the living room rug. I know this because it was all over the actual rug itself and the hardwoods and many times during the day my nephew would pick up the lint/fuzz and hand it to me and it was all over our dark clothing as well. All in all, however, we are thankful the owners heard us out and accepted our side of the story and our damage deposit was refunded to us but we will not be renting this house again in the future due to unnecessary accusations and stress while on vacation

Owner's Response: Perhaps you could step back for a moment and consider that my facts were that the woman that cleans my house every week (and is familiar with the carpet fuzz) alerted me to the fact that she found lots of dog hair inside the house "and they didn't even bother to try to sweep it up." and assured me three times that it was not fuzz from the rug. In addition the neighbor across the street who is a federal judge, said that he saw y'all load a small brown lap dog into one of your cars when you were packing up on Sunday and his wife said "boy there were sure a lot of adults and children staying there." We rely on these folks to alert us to what's happening in our properties because we live over 500 miles away. These folks have nothing to gain and are just looking out for our interests. The rug, incidentally, is a brand new all wool rug. Wool rugs fuzz a lot the first year. None of the other renters we've had so far have mentioned any issues with the rug or the fuzz. As for the hot tub having sand in it - that I would have like to hear about from y'all when you witnessed it. We pay the pool company $400 a month plus to take care of the pool and spa but this was not mentioned until after you left the property. I could have done something about this as well as the outside shower pressure if you had alerted me sooner. Yes we have a WiFi thermostat so that we can monitor temps because we live so far away - especially when there is no one there for long periods. I heard that the heat index was over 100 degrees and noticed that you all had it set at 70 degree. I was told by the AC contractor that systems get over taxed and are not meant to be set more than 10 degrees below the outside temperature - which is obviously not reasonable in those temps but 70 is a big stretch for the system to keep us so yes I was concerned and requested that you set it higher and moderate with the ceiling fans which I've found works great and is still comfortable at 75. With regard to the door alarm that is a requirement by law when you have a pool. There was a recent incident where a child drowned at a rental home that did not have an alarm so this is a necessity. After receiving a long message from your mother launching all kinds of personal attacks I decided to refund your security deposit. I suspect that you all did enjoy your time at the house given I didn't hear any of these complaints until after the fact but it clearly was not a good communication situation between us.
