About the property

3 bedroom gite, set in lovely gardens with trampoline

The Gite de Beaumanoir is a pretty renovated stone house, set in a lovely garden, in quiet countryside, and less than half an hour from dozens of sandy beaches. With 3 large bedrooms upstairs, and a spacious living area downstairs, the gite can comfortably accommodate 7 people and a baby.

The pretty garden is quiet and safe, with a 14 foot (4.3m) trampoline and swings.

Beaumanoir is 25 minutes from Brittany's beautiful south coast beaches, 15 minutes from Auray and Vannes, lovely old towns with typical bustling markets, 3 km from Pluvigner, a small town where you can find all amenities (shops, restaurants, tennis courts, etc…), 3 km away from the Camors forest (ideal for long walks, mountain biking and horse riding) 4 km from the “Etang de la Foret” (a lake ideal for fishing and canoeing) and 20 minutes from Carnac, La Trinité Sur Mer, Le Golfe du Morbihan, Quiberon and its crossings to “Belle Île en Mer”.

In winter the gite is cosy and well heated, and also has an open fire, with a supply of logs

About Abbey Sullivan

I am Irish, married to a French man, and we feel very lucky to live in this lovely part of the world. Between us we have 6 children, ranging from ages 8 to 26.

Abbey Sullivan purchased this house in 1998

Why Abbey Sullivan chose Pluvigner

Andre bought this house (and the one we live in) as a complete ruin, and spent many years lovingly renovating it.

What makes this house unique

The life style in Brittany is just perfect. There is a really strong sense of tradition, very friendly people, beautiful coast-line and country side and lovely towns. We love the peace and quiet of where we live, coupled with the buzz of the coast in the summer. And of course when the weather is nice in Brittany you wouldn't want to be any where else! It never gets too hot, or too crowded. We love it here, and love to share it with our holiday guests.

Well equipped property in a peaceful yet accessible location.

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our two weeks at "Le Beau Manoir". The property had everthing you would need and was spacious enough for the five of us.

It is in a very peaceful location yet only a 5 minute drive from Pluvigner, which is a bustling town with many facilities (e.g. good supermarket, 3/4 bakeries, bars, restaurants etc).

The coast is only an easy 30min (or so drive away) and the owners helpfully provide details of some good beaches which we found to be really nice.

There are also plenty of non-beach trips too such as Vannes (recommend using the P&R), Concarneau and Rochefort-en-Terre to make a few. Looks like there is good surfing near Quiberon with many surf schools around Plouharnel. There is enough to do in the area that I think we could easily do another two weeks without too many duplicate trips.

The only thing to consider is that the bathroom and toilet (separate) are on the ground floor opening onto the living space: not a problem for us as a family but worth remembering of you were travelling as two couples (the house has beds for 7 plus two cots).

I would recommend staying here to anyone who is coming to this part of Brittany due to the location. The owners are lovely and right next door if help is needed and there is a large file of information within the property.

Finally, the Internet speed is very good (very useful as we found phone signal hard to come by!). TV is French channels only as far as we could see...a welcome break for us so not a problem but worth noting of you are from the UK and were hoping to watch British TV of an evening (common enough at other places we have stayed around France).

A lovely house for a relaxing family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four (with two young daughters) enjoyed a two week stay at this property in August 2015. From the beginning the owner Abbey had been helpful and prompt in her email responses, and the booking process was straightforward. Abbey and her family live next door in the adjoining property and were happy to answer any queries we had.

The property listing and photographs are accurate, and it is well equipped with pretty much everything we needed. The property was clean on arrival with a welcome basket. The big garden was a delight and the trampoline was hugely popular.

There is plenty of local information provided, including personal recommendations for beaches and a detailed local map. I would have liked a guest book too, to read recommendations from other guests.

Although in a very rural location, the property is a 5 minute drive from Pluvigner which has a good selection of bakeries and a good sized supermarket, as well as creperies and bars, and helpful tourist information. We found everywhere we wanted to visit was about 30 – 40 minutes drive away. We enjoyed visiting some of the bigger towns such as Auray and Vannes, and spent a lot of time on the coast at several beaches near Carnac and Trinite Sur Mer and on the Quiberon Peninsula. We’d particularly recommend exploring inland for canoeing on the Loche and the Brevet rivers, which were beautiful, and a visit to St Cado (Belz) and the Etel estuary which were peaceful.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind words, as well as the hint abut the guest book. Good idea. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay so much, and were impressed at all the activities you managed to pack in , even on the rainy days! Regards to all, and good luck with back to school / work. Lovely and comfortable gite in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the gite de Beaumanoir with the house being spacious, clean, comfortable and well-equipped (having the washing machine and tumble dryer was great when taking the kids to the beach every day). The big garden was a big hit, with plenty of room for the kids to run around and they loved their many sessions on the trampoline. The owners, Abbey and Andre, were very friendly and helpful and gave us great advice as to the best beaches, places to visit etc. We loved the beaches at Kervillen, La Trinite sur Mer (easy access, ice creams); St.Pierre, Locmariaquer (beautiful beach) and Kerhillio, Erdeven (waves for the body boards). St Goustan and the old town of Vannes were lovely to wander around as were the stones at Carnac.

The gite was a very comfortable base for our family holiday with lots to see and do in the area- plenty of beaches, crepes and ice cream. We would definitely recommend Gite de Beaumanoir.

Thank you Abbey and Andre.

Marvellous house

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house, big garden , bbq , very neat and clean, everything in place for a good family holiday. We (family of four) stayed two weeks, and that is way too short.

It is a perfect base to discover south the part of Brittany. The landlady (on and top English) created a folder full of activities, all kinds of walks, restaurants etc. We has really a lovely time.

Great. Pretty house and wonderful garden.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic 2 weeks at Beau Manoir. Beautifully quiet setting. A pretty house with a fab garden. The boys spent hours running around outside. Owners live next door and were very friendly and helpful with lots of good tips on places to visit. You do need to be prepared to drive everywhere, but we thought this was offset by such a lovely property. Beautiful coast line about 25 mins away. Take the owners advice on which ones were sheltered depending on the winds! Some decent, good value creperies rise in nearby Pluvigner. Tree top adventure highly recommended for kids 6+ and a activity park for younger kids nearby too.
