Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday villa in Algarve

Sleeps 8, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, private heated pool

Situated away from the crowded coast and the tourist developments and offers a different flavour of the genuine Portugal amidst the scent of pine and eucalyptus trees. The property is approached up a cobbled lane away from the road which ascends to Foia, the highest point in the Algarve, and is a five minute drive to Monchique, a bustling market town with a good range of shops which cater for all day to day needs. A new Intermarche supermarket has opened in Monchique in Spring 2012. The views from the villa are spectacular over the rolling foothills of the Serra de Monchique to the coast from east of Albufeira to beyond Lagos. There are many good and inexpensive restaurants within a short distance, especially the renowned Restaurant Rampa, well known for its excellent piri piri chicken.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We got back yesterday and we all agreed that we have just had the best holiday ever, and that Casa Rosa was without doubt the best holiday house we have ever stayed in! It's just so lovely, so spacious, within and outside. The photos on the website are very good - it is what attracted me in the first place, the sense of space and plants and views and luxury, - but we don't think they really do the house justice! The gardens are lovelier, the pool is larger, the bedrooms more charming, it was all such a treat. We kept marvelling to each other "Look! a coffee making machine!" and "Have you noticed that the knives are sharp?" It is so well appointed, and it has the feel of a much loved home that you are kind enough to share. The directions were really good too! We have stayed in a lot of holiday houses over the years, and this year's experience was the utter winner! Thank you.

A peaceful relaxing week in an idyllic setting.

The location is superb if what you want is a 'get away from it all holiday'. The views are incredible and the villa itself is all you could ask for. The pool area is raised which allows the views to be enjoyed whilst also being secluded. There are a variety of eating areas in and out of the sun so when it gets too hot (and it can do) there are shady areas to relax in. The villa is well laid out and spacious with all the amenities you are used to at home. There is a veritable library of books to read and of course TV if the weather turns. The villa is well equipped with loungers and cushions etc and pool toys and towels. The only thing missing was fans as it was very hot in August and this made sleeping a little difficult.

There are a number of eateries within walking distance offering local cuisine though a car is essential for shopping etc.

The villa was clean and obviously well maintained and the gardener visits regularly.

We would highly recommend this villa for a family with older children and older people though if infirm it would not suit due to a high number of steps around the property. For us it was the perfect getaway to share with friends.

Owner's Response: Thank you Tony and Trudi for the full and helpful review on Casa Rosa following your stay in August. I note what you say about fans and they will be there for 2009. It is always good to receive useful feedback from our guests. I hope that you enjoy your return visit now booked for June 2009 when it should not be quite as hot as in August! Best wishes Madelyne

casa rosa

We have just returned from Casa Rosa and wanted to say - what a fab holiday.

The property was located in a lovely part of Monchique, with beautiful views. It was very clean, spacious, well equipped for a family holiday and has a stunning garden.

We really had the sense of getting away from it all. Casa Rosa was so peaceful yet well positioned for restaurants down the hill (which are very good and very reasonable).

All on all - a lovely property that we would highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your appreciative review. We have tried to create a home-from-home atmosphere at Casa Rosa so that our guests can feel relaxed and comfortable. Our large pool is always a great favourite with the families that return year after year. With best wishes Madelyne & Chris.

Probably the most relaxing hloiday ever!

We visited Casa Rosa in the summer of 2007. We wanted a secluded villa with a large swimming pool in Monchique. As we were travelling with three of our children and one boyfriend, the villa had to be on the large side. On arrival we could not believe how beautiful the villa was. The pictures do not do the magnificent setting justice. Inside Casa Rosa has a 'lived in' homely feel, something that is lacking in other properties. The kids loved the upstairs balcony with the superb view over the Monchique hills. They also loved the massive swimming pool and actually preferred to stay there all day rather than go to the beach. Our favourite evenings were having a barbeque under the pergola with soft music playing with a glass of wine. I wish I was back there now! Highly recommended by all of us.

Owner's Response: Thank you Peter for taking the time to write a review of your stay at Casa Rosa. I believe that many visitors to the Algarve do not appreciate the advantages of a holiday away from busy and crowded costal resorts and the special features which your family so enjoyed at Casa Rosa. I hope that you will be able to return in the near future! Best wishes Madelyne

Casa Rosa

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Rosa having spent the first week of our holiday on the Algarve coast. The second week at Casa Rosa was very different providing breathtaking views of the Algarve and situated in a rural countryside location.

The accomodation had plenty of character, large and spacious, light and airy. Outside again was spacious for bbq's, eating and not least the pool was fabulous. Very private grounds.

We recommend a visit to the west coast with some fabulous beaches (Monte Clerigo).

All in all a very impressive house and surroundings.

Stuart and family, Rochdale

Peacefully situated back from the coast in Serra de Monchique away from the road leading up to Foia, the highest point in the Algarve.

Casa Rosa is about 4km from the charming small town of Monchique, a genuine Portuguese market town with narrow cobbled streets, ancient churches and traditional houses. There is a pretty town square with cafes and a water feature. There is a daily fish and vegetable market, smaller supermarkets and craft shops, also many cafes and restaurants and a larger monthly market. There is a new Intermarche supermarket which is open every day. There are many excellent restaurants between Monchique and the villa serving local specialities such as chicken piri-piri, presunto (smoked ham) and traditional stews.

The lesser known and dramatic West Coast beaches popular with surfers are about 40 minutes drive. The South Coast with stunning beaches and the famous golden cliffs are about 35 minutes away. Local towns such as the ancient spa of Caldas de Monchique, Silves, and Aljezur are all well worth a visit as are the larger town of Portimao and the attractive town of Lagos with its stunning 6 mile long sandy beach.
