Overview

About the property

You will be staying in 2 private luxury guest rooms, which are separate to our home. Perfect for two couples, or two singles each with their own rooms. You can expect to enjoy unique breakfasts with a healthy twist. You will be close to John Forrest National Park, and walking distance to some beautiful waterfalls in Winter & Spring, and the historic Parkerville tavern. We're all about helping guests relax, be in nature, and get away from it all - while being in complete luxury!

The Space:

Our two guest rooms are adjacent to each other and have one common wall. They are in a separate dwelling to the main house (our home). The rooms are the same size (just styled differently). We have taken great care in styling them so that they are simple, yet luxurious. Both guest rooms have a king size bed (with minimal partner disturbance), walk-through shower and underfloor heating set in a beautiful location. From zero-VOC paint to the naturally sealed floor, the rooms have been built with as much care for the environment as possible. The rooms are cleaned using only natural cleaning products. Organic personal care products are provided for use during your stay. Your hot water is heated from the sun and power is largely supplied through our PV system. Summer nights in Hovea are rarely hot and the ceiling fan over the bed will keep you perfectly cool. There are modern conveniences such as wifi and a TV (with Netflix) in your room, but your mobile phone will not work here.

Guest Access:

You have access to the pool, the grounds of our property which includes our creek, and the 26.78 km² of nearby John Forrest National Park. The guest rooms are detached from the main home and each guest room has a private entrance. There are many outdoor spaces to relax around the property. At the bottom of our property, you will find our bridge which will take you to the old Railway Reserve Heritage Trail. The trail is popular for walks and bike riding.

Interaction with guests:

We are both travellers and we love to meet people from all over the world.

We are always keen to chat over a chai tea or coffee to share suggestions for places to see nearby.

That said, we are also always respectful of your privacy while you enjoy your getaway.

Other things to note:

Smoking is not permitted in the guest rooms or on our property. Our policy here is strict, as we are in a high risk area for bushfires.

We do not accommodate pets.

We have a cat who lives indoors in the main house.

Bring your walking shoes as there are so many wonderful walks near to us.

We will supply insect repellent and sun screen if you need it.

In terms of us, Jeremy works in IT and is a former school teacher. Claire is a Registered Nurse and qualified Naturopath.

We are happy to cater your breakfast to suit your dietary needs including GF, DF, vegetarian, vegan, paleo etc...Our breakfasts are a highlight for many guests - and are created by our in-house naturopath. Amazingly good and guilt-free breakfasts are our specialty!

Feel free to follow us on social media #quendaguesthouse

The Neighbourhood:

Hovea is actually the largest locality in the Perth metro area but it's made up mostly of John Forrest National Park. The old railway reserve will take you directly into the park. The natural environment is mostly Jarrah forest which is unique to SW Australia. The area is very historic as much of the early development of Perth headed out East.

Getting around:

The Perth Hills are best explored by car. Drive to us and drive yourself around the hills, as there is little public transport, but plenty of parking and stunning scenery to enjoy.

About Jeremy & Claire Hurst

Hi! We are Claire & Jeremy, and together we are peeps behind Quenda Guesthouse. Our guesthouse is a blend of both of us.

🌿Long before I knew him, Jeremy had a dream to move to the hills, and have a guesthouse. Like me, he is a traveller at heart, and creating our guesthouse was a way of continuing the travel vibe, and meeting people, while being right here at home!

🌿Being a greenie at heart, our house and guest rooms (which are separate to our house) are eco designed (from top to bottom - just ask him!) - by Jeremy. (And that’s not even his day job!) It was built in 2010, and has been an ongoing labour of love ever since!

🌿I (Claire) came along in 2011, when the guest rooms were built but bare, and the pool was empty! Funnily enough, I worked in a B&B many years ago in London (although Jeremy insists our relationship was not based on this helpful criteria! 😂)

🌿Nearly two years ago, we launched our first guest room, and the rest is history!

🌿Being a naturopath, it was essential to me that we create and serve beautiful, fresh breakfasts. This has become a highlight for our guests (as per their feedback) - we just serve what WE would want! Certainly no cereal boxes or processed food here!

🌿What’s the best part, and why do we do it? Honestly, it’s the people we get to meet! It’s always about people, isn’t it? It has been so much fun, getting to meet people we wouldn’t otherwise have met. To us, this just reinforces the idea that 99.9% of people in this world are good people. People just like you and me.

🌿And to get to see them relax, take time out, and be in nature? Well, that’s just the best!

Peaceful, relaxing, comfortable getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely 2 nights away, booking both rooms for a girls getaway. The rooms were beautiful, clean and well presented. Jeremy was very helpful with any of our requests. Both Claire and Jeremy went above and beyond organising yoga on site for us. And the weather was just stunning, allowing us to make the most of relaxing by the pool. The location is great, with both our dining choices nearby, Parkerville Tavern and Mahoganny Inn. And the walking track easy to find and use. Would definitely stay again.

What a Gem

  • 5 of 5

What a gem Quenda guesthouse was for a weekend getaway.

Only 30 minutes from the city and you're in a region that feels like the south West. The surrounding peaceful forest creates the perfect environment to melt away the stress from the 9 to 5.

In an area where most properties on offer are either single bedrooms for rent or impersonal B&B factories; Quenda guesthouse offers great privacy as it's a fully detached and self contained.

Claire and Jeremy are the hosts with the most, offering great food, recommendations and experience.

Quenda guesthouse is a must do in an area that has so much to offer.
