When we spend our holidays in Bali in 2005 ,we came in contact with a real estate developer from Holland.
Within a couple of weeks we decided to buy a plot at the northcoast of Bali and 8 month later we were the proud owners of Rumah Buka. No regret untill today!
Maddy and Ton de Bruin purchased this villa in 2006
Due to the experience of staying at the northcoast of Bali during our holidays in 2006, we found out that the location of our plot was an excellent one.
The north of Bali is still authentic, far away from the crowded south. Our plot is located just 5 km west of Lovina Beach, a small scale holiday village directly at the Bali Sea.
It can be reached by 'bemo' public transport and there is still tranquillity and quietness in this area. A splendid place to relax and enjoy the Balinese culture and beautifull nature.
Every day you can enjoy the the murmur of the sea, the song of the birds, the view over the Bali Sea, enjoying the sun or rest in the Bale Benong, sitting in the shade, with a cool seabreeze reading a book or whatever you like to do, while the staff is taking care of you.
Perfect place to relax for a week after exploring Bali in the two previous weeks.
The villa is as superb as the pictures show. Huge spaces, great pool, just overlooking the sea. Spacious bedrooms, nice dining area outside, the little bale in front of the sea also a nice relaxing spot. What else?
The info and suggestion provided by the owners are very helpful. We've been able to go and spot dolphins without being part of the pack of boats as we left from the villa beach. Many excursions toward the mountains can be done from this side of Bali, actually probably better than from Semyniak/Denpasar due to lighter traffic.
Nice staff, the Balinese kindness! The watchman Komang played Balinese music of us during dinners, for the joy of our kids and Wayan cooked some some delicious dishes on evenings. It is only fair to say that some of her dishes were the best Indonesian food we've had on the island (and we've done many warungs!). No use going to any restaurant then.
Two little downside - the beach is dirty right in front of the villa, even if the gardener tries and cleans it every morning - he just can't win. But you can walk a little and avoid most dirt. Also the villa is a bit isolated so don't expect to walk to a warung for lunch. But you also avoid traffice noise !
Definitely recommending the place. If tickets to Bali were not so expensive, I'll happily go there again :-)
Rumah Buka is positioned right on the beach so its hard to choose between the beautiful pool or beach. The gardens are absolutely stunning with Binter carefully attending to them 6 days per week! We spent most of our lazy days on the covered day bed as it was simply blissful. The housekeeper/cook Wayan looked after us incredibly well, absolutely nothing was a problem. We stayed in most nights as she is a superb cook and we didn't want to miss out on her fantastic creations. Both inside and outside of the villa is absolutely beautiful with quality indoor and outdoor furniture. We loved the outdoor bathrooms especially if we had a little rain during your shower or looked up at the stars when showering.
We did the early morning dolphin watching trip but unfortunately this was spoilt by the boat constantly cutting out when the dolphins were spotted in the distance so we never managed to get very close to them.
Komang (security) came each night and played us traditional balinese music. I recorded him on my phone one night and every now and again I play this to remind me of the most wonderful holiday we have ever had.
A private oasis providing a wonderful, relaxing place to unwind. We enjoyed every minute of our 10 night stay from the moment we were greeted by the driver to the day we sadly said goodbye - every minute was amazing.
The photos do not do justice to the absolute beauty of the Villa and stunning garden. The architecture is amazing, the finishes from floor tiles, to soaring roofline, open air showers and stunning timber staircase - superb.
We were greeted by smiling staff and beautiful flowers decorating the bedrooms and living spaces. We felt extremely special and knew we had made the right choice for our holiday.
There are many places to chill out and enjoy the serenity - favourites were the seaside bale complete with koi pond and timber recliners under the oversized umbrella on the garden deck.
The many DVDs and books were much appreciated
The staff were wonderful, Wayan greeted us with a huge smile each morning and we very much enjoyed her breakfasts on the wide open verandah. Driver Pablo was fabulous and ready to whisk us away to where ever we wished. We did several day trips including snorkeling at Menjangan Island and a tour taking in the sights of North Bali feeding roadside monkeys - a hit with the kids - visiting the temple on the lake and the local buddhist monastery.
Binter the gardener was a delight and a particular highlight of our stay was when he climbed the coconut tree and plucked 2 beautiful fresh coconuts for us to enjoy.
Komang who comes each night to do security was also friendly and we enjoyed him playing traditional music and allowing the children to have a play on his bamboo 'Rindik'.
We made use of the gorgeous pool every day and also enjoyed the gardens and beach.
A sunrise trip on a local fishing boat to see the wild dolphins was an amazing experience and being picked up right in front of the Villa was fabulous. This is a 'must do' experience during a stay.
We ate at many local warungs and restos and were impressed each night - we dined at Spice Beach Club, Warung Apple, Starlight, Kakatua, Bintang Bali and Seabreeze. We also visited the Buda Bakery for treats for the children.
Overall our stay was wonderful and we were sad to leave our little piece of heaven. Terimah Kasi to all of the staff and to Ton and Maddy who from our very first enquiries were amazingly helpful and easy to deal with. Communication was excellent and the information provided was extensive and very much appreciated. A well deserved 5 stars.
We spent two relaxing weeks in Rumah Buka. The villa is even better than in pictures.Tastefully decorated and despite of villa`s large size it`s still cozy.Permanent staff is very helpfull and makes your holiday luxury.Wayan`s cookings beats local restaurants. Gardener Pinter takes care of beautiful garden and the pool. It`s good to wake up every morning and see that somebody really cleans the pool ( which we used a lot). We´ve travelled a lot around the world on our holidyays.Bali and Rumah Buka fits in TOP 3
In English I want to say that it is the perfect place for perfect vacations:every thing 100%!!!
The small village of Dencarik lies halfway between Lovina Beach and Seririt on the northside of the mountainrange dividing the quiet but still authentic northpart of Bali and the touristic South of this 'island of the Gods'
You will find numerous Hindu temple complexes next to the only Buddhist temple on Bali in the vicinity of the villa, large waterfalls spread along the norht coast, superb diving and snorkeling spots near Menjangan Island and Amed, beautiful sceneries and views over the ricepaddies and you can see the dolphins passing by in the early morning hours close to the coast in nearby Lovina Beach.Hot springs are only a few kilometers away from the villa.
5 km east from the villa is Lovina Beach with many shops, boutiques, restaurants, terraces,ATM's and small scale hotels and guesthouses, while Seririt with its colourful market is 7 km more to the west.
The former capital Singaraja is about 20 minutes by car east of the villa.
Other Activities: Treetop adventures for children. One hour away from the villa is Bedugul with the Bali Botanical Garden.
Inside the Garden is the Bali Treetop Adventure Park located.
Children can climb from one treetop to the other.
A save environment is secured!
