Relax under the mango tree in this amazing 3 bed villa with private gardens just 2 minutes from the rejuvenating Caribbean sea.

Shelsea is a wonderful and spacious home from home. A beautiful and comfortable villa. Lush tropical gardens with spectacular trees, plants and birds. The 3 bedrooms are all air-conditioned and good quality towels and linen are provided. The villa is very well-appointed and has TV, Hi-Fi and a well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. The villa is very relaxing and peaceful; a place where you can get away from it all and yet arrive on the beach in less than 2 minutes. Enjoy the hammock under the shade of the mango tree and illuminate the garden in the evenings to the tunes of whistling frogs and crickets. Shelsea is a very special place!

We love Shelsea for the beautiful gardens, relaxing, welcoming feel and proximity to the beach and shops & restaurants of the South Coast.

We bought this property having married in Barbados in 1985 and spending many happy holidays here.

What makes this villa unique

Very close to the beach - no roads to cross so no need to dress to go to/from the beach. The garden is fantastic - we have a wonderful collection of tropical flowers, plants and trees. My favourite time is 5pm through to dusk when all the birds return home to sleep and the whistling frogs start their melody - just amazing!

"Family Reunion/Christmas 2012"



Shelsea was the perfect place to act as home base for our family members ( 16 of us age12-76) as we celebrated ChristmasNew Years and our return to the island after 4 of us spent 1972 living here! Other family members had rented smaller places that were within walking distance but they were all jealous at how spacious, clean and luxurious Shelsea was. We had a barbeque for Christmas day which was really fun. Dinner on the patio was a wonderful family time. Charile's restaurant just up the lane was perfect for dinner after a long day of driving around the island, a day at the beach or exploring the interior of the island. The beautiful beach down the lane was perfect for an early morning swim/watching the sunset but the kids really enjoyed the bigger waves and the monkeys at Maxwell beach just down the road and the action (and snorkeling) at accra beach ( a 5 min drive) for boogie boarding. Proximity to the Gap kept our teenagers/young adults happy with shopping and nightlife. Everyone looked forward to Fridays for the fish fry and dancing at Oistins. We had a car for the whole 2 weeks but it was not a necessity as the bus is really easy and cheap and taxis, even for large groups are just a call away)

Yvonne, Ron, Paul and Lou made sure we had everything we needed and booking/organizing the rental with Sheila was a breeze.We certainly got our monies worth!!

We highly recommend this location and the island. Everyone is super friendly, very safe, family oriented, the reefs are amazing if you are a diver ( The Dive Shop in Carlisle Bay ), lots of turtles, gorgeous beaches ( spend 2 days at the Crane- my favorite!!). One of the highlights of our trip was "Good Times" catamaran. We chartered the boat for a sunset cruise and we were treated like royalty from the minute they picked us up. Kenneth the captain provided lots of history and general knowledge of beautiful Barbados.

We will be back for Christmas 2015!!!

Perfect Paradise!

We enjoyed the most amazing holiday at Shelsea villa. Everything was perfect. The villa is like home from home with everything you might need for a relaxing, trouble-free vacation. Sheila had even provided basic groceries for our arrival and we really enjoyed the luxury of a well-stocked bookcase for our holiday reading.

The garden is beautiful and we were fascinated by the tropical trees and plants. Humming birds and little yellow breasted birds breakfasted with us every day and we spent lots of time taking pictures of them.

It was a change for us to experience self-catering rather than stay in a hotel but we will certainly go that way again! So much more fun to be able to choose where and when to eat and we ate at many different restaurants including Oistins fish fry on the Friday night. All very reasonable and such good food.

The beach was fabulous - white sand and not a bit crowded. Clear, azure sea to bathe in - who could wish for more. We hired a car to see the island but could have managed without as the location is so convenient.

Shelsea was wonderful - highly recommended! Thank you Sheila, Ronnie, Lou and Yvonne for your care and friendship. A very special holiday for us and we will certainly return as soon as possible.

Amazing Accommodations and service!

Right from our first inquiry, the service Sheila provided was fantastic!

We were prompty welcomed and given a thorough tour with a full book of information and instructions should we have any questions. The property is just as lovely as the pictures and there was more than enough room for the five of us! We didn't even use the living room and tv room, choosing to sit outside on the covered porch instead to enjoy the beautiful breeze and listen to the sea.

Shelsea has everything you need to enjoy your vacation in Barbados. The kitchen is well organized and fully equipped with every convenience. The bedrooms are bright, comfortable, spacious and very clean. The cleaning service provided was immaculate, with plenty of bath and beach towels and laundry on site.

It was so easy to keep in contact with our family as the Internet connection was reliable the entire time, even with all of us using separate devices. A home phone was also available for local calls.

This was our first stay in the Maxwell area and it was a great location! It was approximately a 15 minute walk to Oistins and not much farther to the St. Lawrence Gap. Breezers Bar (formerly Charlie's) is right around the corner and has the best burgers and homemade fries.

The garden is beautiful and the property so well cared for, with a private drive, gate and alarm system. We were so comfortable in the neighbourhood and truly enjoyed our stay.

We would recommend Shelsea for anyone looking for a quiet area with ease of access to beaches, shopping, bars and restaurants.

Home away from home...literally!

Staying at Shelsea was the best decision my friends and I could have made for our trip to Barbados this year. The house was lovely. It really did feel like our home away from home. Not only did Sheila make us feel comfortable from miles away, but her neighbours Ron and Lou did a great job of making sure we felt safe and right at home. They were literally a call away. This was not my first time to Barbados, but Shelsea definitely made it my most comfortable time. Myself and 5 other women stayed at Shelsea and there were no complaints. A very private, 2 full bathrooms and 3 bedrooms made it livable for all of us. We had a well equipt kitchen (pots, pans, bottle openers...) that made it easy for us to prepare meals during the day. They were sweet enough to have a few groceries waiting for us in the fridge upon our arrival. We also had access to a washer and dishwasher, a television (although we never used it), surround sound stereo system (the home is secluded enough that our loud music did not interfere with the neighbours - bonus!), you name it! The garden was one of our favourite places to lay out at night, as it light up with lights - very relaxing. Just a 2 minute walk was the beautiful Butterfly Beach, which we went to every morning before we started our day. Shelsea is in a very convenient location, as some days and night we took a 15-20 min stroll to Dover beach/St Lawrence Gap. The supermarket was also a very short distance away as well. All in all, Shelsea was lovely and we will definitely be making arrangements to stay here again on our return to Barbados in 2017.

Outstanding, Stunning

Just returned from a wonderful holiday at Shelsea in Barbados. This was our second visit and even better than the first! Beautiful weather and clear azure Caribbean sea 2 minutes walk from Shelsea – what could be better!

Shelsea garden is looking fantastic and the mangoes! We were so lucky as they had started to ripen whilst we were there and so we had fresh fruit every morning.

The villa is lovely – so spacious which is great for us with 2 children. Much better than the confines of a hotel. And the garden is a nice alternative to the beach. We especially enjoyed the BBQ and grilling fresh fish from Oistins – so cheap!

We will be back for sure!

Shelsea is a little piece of heaven

Shelsea is a little piece of heaven. Even though it’s not on the beach don’t let that change your mind about staying here. It’s on a quiet lane with a 1 minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches on the south coast & from the porch & yard you can hear the waves crashing.

The beautifully kept gardens attract all kinds of birds & we saw humming birds every day. The house has all the comforts of home including a fully stocked kitchen with all modern appliances. This was great for me since I love cooking & picking up fresh fish from the Oistins fish market which is 10 minute walk from the house. We were 6 total staying in the house including 2 grandparents & 2 young children & everyone had their own space which is just what we needed.

Our holiday was just perfect & we can’t wait to return to Shelsea.

Shelsea is a Delightful Villa!

We have stayed in Barbados villas before, but we found Shelsea a cut above most. It is spacious, comfortable, and above all, well located. The garden provides a delightful place to enjoy breakfast with the company of hummingbirds and mourning doves. The proximity to the beach was delightful, allowing time for a morning swim after breakfast and plenty of time to explore the island the rest of the day. Evening cocktails on the sheltered veranda were a great way to relax at the end the day. The Oistens location places you in a position to easily travel around the island by rental car or bus. The Oistens outdoor fish market is a great place to get just-caught fish for a late afternoon barbecue back at the house. Will be returning to Shelsea.
