1 bedroom, 1 bathroom oceanside cottage with mountain, ocean, and garden views
About Georgia Henderson
We have owned and altered this property for 14 years and spent many hours putting our signature on almost every inch but like all projects it is a work in progress. I am a graduate of arts school and Ron is a journeyman carpenter and we have spent the last 18 years renovating houses, gardening and lending our talents to others starting the same journey. We are island people-I grew up on Gambier, we live on an island, have a cabin on Hornby that we rent and a small home on Kauai.
Georgia Henderson purchased this Cabin in 2005
Why Georgia Henderson chose Courtenay
I grew up on an island and next to the ocean so my dream was to live there as we retired. We absolutely love where we live and are thankful every day for the opportunity to spend our days here. The area is quiet, beautiful and we see our fair share of wildlife pass by our window. This year it was a young pair of deer, black bear, and just yesterday an otter crossed over our porch. The bird life is amazing often filling the sky with white as they take off and then land again on the little island off shore. We grow organically most of our fruit and vegetables and give away boxes of produce we cant use. We have beautiful sunsets that make you want to grab a kayak or at least your camera and certain times of the season beach fires are allowed. We keep the green space between us and the ocean mowed and there is lots of room to enjoy the view.
What makes this Cabin unique
We have used found objects from renovating the property to decorate with so there are a lot of storys and history associated with the décor. We never tire of watching gulls and eagles, seals and otters about their business at the waterfront and taking a morning coffee in the back yard where the garden lends a lot of open privacy. Guests find the proximity of the pub and coffee shop a great asset when considering an easy solution for a meal. The pub often has live music as its only a block away!

Such a nice place to stay
Our hosts, Georgia, Ron and David gave us a warm welcome. They provided everything to have really fantastic days at the red roofs of Royston.
Veg from the garden, fruit from the trees and a fanciful furnitured house gave us a real good feeling.
So happy to hear you enjoyed your stay....it was a pleasure hosting you and meeting you both. Bon Voyage.
Wonderful cottage full of creative treasures. Very peaceful location on the property and in the neighbourhood. Across from the ocean, ideal for walks and sunsets. Lovely host and family!!
It was lovely to meet you Tammy and enjoy some time with you. We hope you come back.
Take a breather
Quaint cabin true to the photos and as described in the advertisement. A great place to relax and unwind. On a clear night the skylights are star-filled. Would have preferred a more updated bathroom, with better lighting, but it was clean and also as described.
Thank you for taking the time to send us a review Barry. We gets lots of comments about the shower walls which are covered in newspapers from 1956.
Unwind at Red Roofs
Having travelled from a long way we were very pleased to unwind here for a couple of days. Georgia and Ron had helpful suggestions for us and we loved our stay. Having stayed there we appreciate why others have returned regularly and so would we if it didn't take us a day to fly here from Papua New Guinea. Do yourself a favour and book Red Roofs. You'll love it!
What a lovely note you left! You were such lovely guests and we would love to see you again but we understand Papua New Guinea is a long way to come. Thank you for choosing to stay with us.
Red Roof in Royston
This is our third summer here. Beautiful location by the beach and trail. They have two kayaks we use to explore the sunken ships nearby
Quiet and serene. The only improvement would be signage to locate the property better.
We are so flattered you came for a third time and would love to be a regular part of your summer holidays. It was great to see you again. You mentioned signage and we are not allowed to post signage on the road but will look at our directions and see if there can be any improvement.
A nice, quiet, place to stay right by the ocean. Lots of things to do in the area. Have stayed here before and enjoyed it. Ron and Georgia are good hosts.
We feel very complimented that you came to Red Roofs again. Its always a pleasure to host a second time.
Enjoy lots of waterfall hikes, fresh water swimming, skiing and tubing and snowboarding in winter at Mount Washington, Farmer's markets, Farm tours, spelunking nearby, within an hour of Hornby, where we rent another small cabin.
