Activies and opportunities

With views stretching across Franklin Sound and the many picturesque islands you may be tempted to charter a boat and explore the islands and try a spot of off shore fishing. Another day could be spent navigating the coastal walking track or climbing Vinegar Hill to see spectacular sea, mountain and island views.

This self contained home is the most centrally located property for view and local amenities in Lady Barron but should you wish to explore all of what Flinders Island has to offer then simply hire a car and explore. Historically there is much to see, especially if you take the time to visit the museum in Emita. There are beautiful secluded beaches and inlets to swim in such as Trousers Point which is in the same area. You could plan a bushwalk to Strzelecki National park with it's extraordinary jagged peaks and just a short drive away. Pack a picnic and take your time to enjoy this beautiful paradise.

Island Shack
The good - easy to get to and check in. Lots of bedding options, towels and linen. Enjoyed the family games and staples in the pantry. Not so good - the wonderful view was blocked by vehicles parked out front, the double bed was quite uncomfortable, some TLC is needed in the property with fittings (broken and uncovered light sockets/exposed wiring) and some items fell/broke due to poor attachments to plaster (owner repaired when contacted). Couldn't see a fire alarm and the oven kept tripping the fuse box/power off when used. The owner was easy to contact on Stayz and while not living nearby, had a neighbour who was available if needed. Instructions for the use of the appliances would have been helpful, also some fishing rods or beach gear that we might borrow. Was overpriced for a shack but overall a fairly pleasant stay.

Lady Barron
Beautiful location with water and island views! Very quiet and within walking distance to the tavern and local shop, lots of bird life! Property was very dated and cleanliness could have been improved but beds were clean and comfortable and everything we need was there. Fairly new white goods etc. Locals were friendly and happy to answer questions and give advice on getting around the island, best places to see etc.
