'Bellamona' is a cosy and comfortable self-contained cottage and has everything needed for a romantic getaway for couples or wonderful family holiday.
The cottage features decorative, original, Georgian fireplaces in both the double and twin single bedrooms. A cosy wood burning fireplace in the living room provides heating throughout the cottage.
The lounge is a perfect place to watch television or read a good book after a day of exploring the many wonderful and exciting places Tasmania has to offer. Comfortable couches, flatscreen TV, Bluray and CD player and a bookcase with numerous books, DVD's, CD's and board games will help you relax and while away the hours.
Both bedrooms have period furniture and comfortable beds fitted with cosy quilts and electric blankets for the cooler nights. All towels, pillows and linen are provided.
The kitchen is self contained and has a table and chairs, microwave, full size fridge and everything needed for cooking meals. Tea, coffee, cocoa, milk and sugar are provided.
The bathroom is large and has a toilet, shower and vanity with soaps, shampoo and hair dryer. There is also a washing machine (powder provided), dryer, clothes airer, outside clothesline, ironing board and iron. A port-a-cot is available on request.
There is off street parking close to the door which should be easily accessible for wheelchairs.
'Bellamona' is set amongst mature organic plum and apple trees – the plums are ready for picking in summer and the apples in autumn. Guests are welcome to enjoy these during their stay, as well as take tea in the sunny garden or relax with a wine in the late afternoon. Plenty of information about Longford, the surrounding areas and Tasmania in general is available at the cottage.
'Bellamona' is our holiday cottage as well as yours, so it contains everything needed for a comfortable stay. We will make sure everything is ready for your arrival and we can be contacted if needed during your stay.
Smoking is not allowed inside but there is a covered verandah front and back with chairs and plenty of outdoor space in the peaceful gardens. Unfortunately pets are not catered for as the yard is not fully fenced.
This is a quiet neighborhood so please enjoy and respect the privacy of those living around you. You are encouraged to treat this cottage as your own but also respect 'Bellamona' and its history by following the guidelines listed in the cottage.
Longford is a fantastic base for your Tasmanian holiday as it's central location allows easy access to many holiday destinations and attractions.
Church bells chime softly on the hour and 'Bellamona' is only a couple of minute’s walk from the main street of Longford with all its village facilities, including local eateries, chemist, antique shop, post office, health professionals, service station, country hotels and supermarket.
The historic cemetery and beautiful mature parks offer our guests the chance to wander and unwind as everything is within easy walking distance of the cottage.
Longford is also a fantastic destination for the motoring enthusiast as it was host to the Grand Prix in the 1960’s. Each year the beautiful country town remembers its racing history when the Longford Revival Festival is held, a wonderful weekend of Motorsport. Targa Tasmania is another racing highlight and is a world class international motorsport event. Book your accommodation early for these events to avoid disappointment.
Longford itself was settled in 1821 and is a 15min drive from Launceston Airport and a 25min drive from Launceston CBD and the spectacular Cataract Gorge. The famous Evandale Sunday Markets are only 10 mins away and well worth a visit.
The annual Longford Cup thoroughbred racing is held 1st January each year at the oldest continuous race track in Australia.
Longford boasts two world class historic estates in Woolmers and Brickendon. Touring these estates takes you back in time to the 19th centuary and is a great experience.There is also easy access to the Midland Highway (the Heritage Way) south to the capital, Hobart – a two hour drive direct. But why not make it a whole day’s outing and stop in at the many historic towns along the way including Campbell Town, Ross and Richmond. There you will discover historic sites, antique shops, local industries and fine eateries.
From 'Bellamona' there is also easy access to major arterial roads which will take you west to Cradle Mountain and the beautiful heritage forests of the wilderness areas and famous lake fishing areas.
To the north you can explore the wine producing Tamar valley or head north-west to the beautiful coastal towns to see the fairy penguins at the town of Penguin of course, and to the historic fishing village of Stanley with its famous ‘Nut’ to climb.
You can also explore north-east through the lavender fields to Scottsdale and over to the coastal towns and beaches of St Helen’s, Binalong Bay, Bay of Fires, Scamander and Swansea.
If you don't have time to enjoy everything in one visit, 'Bellamona' is the ideal return location for where-ever you wish to visit in Tasmania, as it is central and close to the airport.
