About Judith Adams

I love the outdoors and traveling! Costa is our go-to country, as the nature is profoundly beautiful, the people are gracious and greet you with an open heart, and the food is delicious and nutritious! Great place, great friends, great food = great memories!!

Why Judith Adams chose San José

Los Sueños Dorados is high enough to not only be surrounded by gorgeous moutain views, but able to benefit from the cooler mountains Air that descends at night. This property is bordered by a crystal clear river, with a 40 foot waterfall a short walk downstream. It is an incredible piece of nature.

What makes this house unique

The property is at the end of the road! It is private, but not isolated. You can get there in two wheel drive. The river is beautiful and makes a wonderful and relaxing place to be. The mountain views and surrounding nature will nourish your soul. It is a 15 minute drive to the beach for surfing enthusiasts. There is something for everyone!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hello from gray and overcast Washington DC!

We had a lovely stay at your place. What a location! Such a view! The toucans made regular appearances and were well photographed. We had a good rainstorm one evening and lost electricity, but the power was back on by the time we got back from the beach in the afternoon.

We had dinner twice at the local restaurant you recommended -- very pleasant indeed. We also went to PorQueNo, just south of Dominical, and had a fabulous meal (suitable for foodies) with an incredible view of the sunset.

We were regular visitors to the falls below the house. Water levels were low, but still plenty of cool clear water to splash around in. Did a hike up to Nauyaca Waterfall on a hot day - glad we had plenty of water to drink.

Oasis in the Jungle

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful few days. The pool is AMAZING. The house was clean, well stocked (except toilet paper!) and the property immaculate. You can't see any neighbours from the house so you feel very secluded. At dusk the jungle came alive and the sounds of insects was deafening; It was a very cool experience. We stayed with two toddlers; 1 & 3, and the house was completely child friendly. We had to do very minimal child proofing which was a nice change from other rentals that had 'stuff' everywhere. AND IT HAS HOT WATER! Hallelujah! haha

oh, and ALL of the windows are screened. That was a very important thing for us. We would definitely stay again.

Amazing Place

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here over 6 nights was amazing. We were after somewhere to escape relax and read. We also went in search for some adventures around national parks and beaches within 1-2 hours drive. Having a 4WD I felt was a must to ensure our stay in Costa Rica was as easy as possible. Judy was a great host we will come back again for sure

impeccably landscaped rural jungle oasis

  • 5 of 5

TL;DR -> Largely as described. Beautiful yard. House okay. Would stay again.

After a bit of a rough arrival with our van driver getting lost (even with the printed directions) and stuck (the dirt road is steep and was muddy in places from tractor tracks - if you use a van company, I would request a 4x4). Carlos was attentive and helpful. We were in awe of the beauty of the yard, the pool was perfectly private and refreshing. The house was a tad musty when we arrived but aired out after a few hours with the windows open and the fans going, and by the next morning, I had acclimated to the temperature. (our first 4 nights of accommodations were air-conditioned and so was the van ride, so there was an adjustment period - but it felt much more authentic). We walked down to the nearby waterfall thanks to Carlos' directions, the hike down took 3 adults and 2 toddlers a full 20 minutes and the way back was closer to 40 with uphill considerations. We only stayed 2 nights, but felt right at home. We were a bit confused by the garbage instructions but it was not a problem to pack it out with us. It was nice to sleep with the windows open, but wow is the jungle loud at night!

As previous reviews stated, there are no paper products provided, not a big deal if you know before you arrive.

Beautiful grounds House just ok

  • 2 of 5

The grounds are beautiful the house is ok. We were there end Feb-1st of March 2018, we found that the house is very warm during the day and does not cool off until 11 or 12 oclock at night, therefore not really allowing anyone to stay there during the day comfortably. When we arrived there was Zero toilet paper in one bath and hardly any in the other and it is quite a drive into town to pick some up. The kitchen has only dishes and utensils take anything else you might need. Showers scald then promptly turned cold Judy did attempt to have her man fix and one shower was good then it went back to scalding.

Great true Costa Rican stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for almost two weeks with our little ones - 2 and 4 year old. Great family house. Property is stunning with a great little pool.

You need to download the VRBO app to get all the info for the house (something I didn't realize at first).

Loved having all the tupperware at the house to take snacks on our outings - but no basics for cooking so bring salt and pepper with you. Blender worked great for smoothies and iced coffee.

Road to the house is a dirt road but totally fine. Carlos was friendly and helpful with the garbage - we also took garbage to the gas station just outside Dominical and dropped off plastic bottles at Elizabeth II grocery store (very friendly owners - young guy speaks great English and likes to chat.).

Must dos: check out Eco Chantales waterfall - Nayaca was beautiful but Eco Chantales was a little more off the beaten track and beautiful. Resident scarlet macaws fly around and you can have lunch at the waterfall.

Haecinda Baru - we saw sloths! (in a tree right at the parking lot), white-faced monkeys, iguanas, agouti, etc. We did the self guided tour but I bet with a guide you'll see even more.

Ensueno restaurant at the south end of Dominical beach for the best smoothies!

You won't be disappointed with your stay here! Thanks for the wonderful place, Judith!
