Geraldine and Jim have lived a number of places-Jim having grown up in Minneapolis and Annapolis, MD and Geraldine in Ballymote, County Sligo . After college in Richmond, VA and New York, NY, Jim relocated to Roanoke, VA where he lived for 22 years, raising 3 sons. Geraldine arrived from Ireland in 1988 and spent time in New Jersey and South Florida, until she relocated to Roanoke where our paths crossed. We currently live in Boca Raton, Florida. Jim purchased this House in 2011
Why Jim chose Castlebaldwin
Geraldine and I visit her Irish home frequently and were looking for a home to eventually spend part of the year when we retire-we came upon this home almost by accident, seeing a flyer in the window of a real estate office in Sligo. We got to see the property the day before we were returning home to the States, and committed to making it ours. We were captivated by the views from the home and the potential the home had with the renovations we knew we would do, and it was large enough to hold our family comfortably.
What makes this House unique
There really are no other properties that compare to this house. The combination of views, historic location, access to outdoor activities, and the feeling of complete relaxation afforded by the complete package is unbeatable.

You won't be disappointed.
My only regret is that I didn't book this property for longer. Just completed a 10 day trip to Ireland and this home, by far, was the best living experience.
The view from the house alone is worth the trip up the road (which is not for the faint of heart!). The house was immaculate and the property manager was incredibly helpful. I would highly recommend this home and hope to return myself someday.
Thanks for the kind words Peggy-hope you can stay longer next time! No matter how long we stay it is never long enough
Super house in stunning surroundings!
Amazing views and lovely house
We very much enjoyed our stay. The sites and views wherever you go are simply amazing. The house was just perfect. Having the red guide book helped to plan our days of adventure. The house has everything you would need or want to make your stay enjoyable.
So glad you enjoyed your stay-we hope you can visit again to enjoy even more of all the west of Ireland has to offer
We came for a family reunion. Everyone was very impressed with the facilities and the views. Had a g
Lovely house. Very comfortable. Caroline was fabulous. My husband got sick and she arranged for him to see the doctor immediately. She was extremely helpful. Our group had a lovely time and kept exclaiming about what a great house it is.
I’m ready to move in!
Wonderful week in a perfectly appointed and located home. Easy access to Sligo and Boyle/Carrick on Shannon. Wonderful for entertaining family who live in the area. The property is spacious yet cozy. The kitchen has every gadget and gizmo necessary to prepare a 5 star experience. Bedrooms are nicely appointed and beds are super comfortable. We WILL be back.
Property is well equipped.
Home was comfortable but hard to find. View was beautiful as long as weather cooperated. Access was up a steep, unmarked narrow path. Owner was unable to provide satellite GPS coordinates. Departing instructions were a little tacky. After being charged a $100 cleaning fee for a three day stay, I did not appreciate being told to strip beds, run dishwasher and shut off heat, appliances and to sort and empty trash.
Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay-never had any complaints before-and we can't do anything about the weather. Steep unmarked narrow path-otherwise known as a road in Ireland. Maybe an urban setting would be more suitable.
Enjoy wonderful hiking, exploring ancient tombs just above the house, local markets and festivals, and just taking in the fabulous views afforded by the elevated site over Lough Arrow.
