About Dana Douglass
I was born and raised in Arizona. I graduated Arizona State University with a Pre-Veterinary degree in 2015. I am currently attending veterinary school.
Dana Douglass purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Dana Douglass chose Pine
This property was my grandparent's home and I fell in love with it when I was little. I would spend every summer up in the cabin because of the beautiful views and weather. I never got bored during my summer vacations at my grandparents home. There is plenty of activities to do. When my grandmother became ill, she stated in her will that the house will be passed down to me. She knew it would be a way to help pay for veterinary school. However, I do not have the heart to sell this home because there are so many memories. Therefore, I decided to turn it into a Vacation/ Seasonal Rental. Any extra profit after paying for bills, will help pay my tuition in veterinary school.
What makes this Cabin unique
My ultimate favorite features about this house are: the log cabin style, it has beautiful views, always has wildlife creatures visiting the yard, the cooler weather, and all the remodeling that my grandparents did by themselves.

Awesome cabin, great hosts!
We had a wonderful stay at the cabin in December with 3 adults and 4 kids. The place is really quaint with a nice big fireplace and log construction. Still, it has all the modern amenities needed - modern fridge, range, microwave, etc. There is no Wi-Fi, which could be viewed as a plus or a minus - I personally thought it a plus as it gave me a chance to unplug - although the cell phone signal is still strong if you get the urge to get to the outside world. It is located in a small town of Pine - so if you are looking for a remote cabin in the woods, this is not it as the lot is surrounded by other lots. There is, however, a lot of wildlife which we did not expect - in the morning there were 7 deer chilling in front of the window on the driveway. We went on 1/2 mile hikes and saw multilple deer and elk close to the road, which was great. On a personal note, we forgot something at the cabin and the owner was kind enough to bring it down to the Phoenix area and met to give it back, which was above and beyond of nice. Thank you and look forward to staying there again.
Thank you so kindly for the great review! We appreciate it! I am so glad you had a wonderful time. You will have to come up in the summer time and enjoy the lakes around. It was a pleasure meeting you and talking with you. I hope you and your family have a very happy and prosperous new year!
Nice rustic place close to town. The elk coming up to the front yard was a bonus feature.

Nice rustic place close to town. The elk coming up to the front yard was an added feature.
Loved our stay
My family and I had such a wonderful and relaxing time. Cabin is so adorable and cozy. Elk came by every day. Thanks Dana, for opening up your home. Hope you enjoyed the little cow. Lisa
This was our second time to stay at ArlenePines, and we loved it. The cabin is lovely inside, with rustic cabin décor and amenities. We spent seven nights and enjoyed each one. Elk were in the yard each day and came up near the porch to eat the corn we put out for them. The large fenced back yard made it perfect for our terrier. Luxurious spa tub makes for a relaxing bedtime routine, and air conditioners for each bedroom kept us cool in the higher than usual temperatures. Sufficiently furnished kitchen made cooking possible, though we didn't do much of that. I'm sure we'll be returning next year.
My fiancé and I with our two boys plus my sister family all stayed at this cabin for Father’s Day. This is our second time staying here. We had a wonderful stay. The house was decorated cute and was very clean. The owners were nice to talk to. They were great with communication. We love the cabin and planning many more trips. It is a nice getaway from the city and nice to be able to enjoy our time with no cable or internet. We actually got to bind as a family and got to fishing.
My family and I booked a long weekend. We were disappointed with the accommodations. The cabin appeared to be vacant for quite some time as there were cobwebs from floor to ceiling. The plates in the cupboard were dusty and dirty. We were also disappointed that the fireplace did not work and there was no charcoal for the tiny outside grill. We made the best of our trip but felt that the cabin was way over priced for what you got. After our trip we received an email from the owner stating that they needed to charge an extra cleaning fee. They claimed that VHS tapes were left on the table and it took over four hours to clean the tiny cabin which is a joke. It takes less than four hours to clean my 2800 sq.ft. house. The cabin was left clean, we even took the garbage to the dumpster. I have requested pictures of the 'mess' three times but the owner has never produced any photographs.
I felt sorry for the situation and charged you $25 for the additional hour of cleaning instead of $50 and did not charge for the damages. Per text May 4th 4:25, you expressed that this was unacceptable and you were going to call VRBO. May 4th at 5:33pm I called VRBO and explain the situation. They informed me that as an owner, I have the right to take money out of the deposit for damages or additional cleaning if it was stated in our contract. He told me to block your number, ignore your VRBO messages and you can file a property complaint.
Per conversation on May 4 at 7:51pm, I tried to explain what extra cleaning had to be done. The Caretaker does not just pick up your mess and leave. The instructions states she performs the following services: washes and dries all linens and towels used, makes the beds, vacuums, sweeps and mops all floors, dusts, cleans and sanitizes bathroom, cleans and sanitizes kitchen, ensures dishes are washed and put away. When she had to put away leftover movies, sort out game pieces, clean extra beddings, soak and scrub our bathroom mats because they glued to the floor, the time adds up.
As for the cobwebs and the dirty dishes, you should have taken pictures and told to me right away if they were as bad as you stated. We then could have had our Caretaker clean it up that day. As for the grill, we provide it, but we do not provide charcoal. Our instructions states you have to contact the fire department to find out the fire status before starting a fire or grill. Unfortunately for you, there was a fire on the rim and fires were not allowed.
I felt the conversation was not going to be satisfying even if you got the $25 back after you indicated you were going to give a bad review and do a property complaint. Therefore, I decided not to send the pictures of the damages or of the invoice, because this situation is not going to get resolved without VRBO’s help. I was told if you wanted pictures you would have to file a property complaint. You as a guest have rights, but I as an owner have rights as well.
Again, I apologize for taking $25 of your deposit, but as an owner I have to cover my expenses. As for being overpriced for the accommodations provided, I am sorry you feel this way. All amenities are listed on VRBO. You agreed to the VRBO terms, hit the submit payment button, read and signed our property contract. We feel our price is reasonable for it is a spacious 2 bedroom log cabin sitting on a fenced in ½ acre of land.
