Our house is situated in the heart of the lovely village of Gaucin - one of the most attractive of the pueblos blancos - near its beautiful church and Moorish castle. The villa is in easy walking distance of a number of excellent tapas bars and restaurants. It comprises a main house, private pool and casita. The main house has a superb kitchen/dining room, very spacious living area with a cozy log burner for those coooler nights and lots of rustic charm. An open staircase leads to a huge romantic master bedroom, a lovely terrace with views of the floodlit castle, an elegant sitting/dressing room with balcony and a spectacular bathroom. Up another level there is a large shaded roof terrace with fantastic views. The pool separates the two parts of the house with stepping stones across from main house to casita. It is truly stunning and totally private with a cascade waterfall feature flowing out of a mosaic tiled arch. There is seating in the pool for keeping cool while sipping your drinks in the heat of summer. The 'casita' comprises an alfresco dining room with bbq area and open fireplace and overlooks the private pool. Inside the casita there is a bathroom and 2 additional bedrooms with a sunny terrace.

The main house can provide a spacious romantic getaway whilst with the casita it provides excellent accommodation for up to two families. The casita is never let separately.

Cautions: The access between the two houses is on large stepping stones through the pool. Obviously care must be taken at all times. It is the renters responsibility to supervise children at all times. The pool is over a metre deep and so children must be able to swim or wear flotation aids whenever you have the doors to the pool area open. In consideration of this and the open staircases we do not accept under 5yr olds for reasons of safety.

Parking: The street that the house is on has parking on both sides of the street within 25 metres of the door. If this is ever full there are other places nearby.

Gaucin paradise

We stayed for a week with another couple from Australia. Wow! What a village and what a lovely house . We relaxed as soon as we entered Ian's little gem. Great walks, great food, comfortable beds. Perfect!

Lovely house in a stunning location. Great pool sheltered from the breeze and very private. House was spacious with all amenities and very clean. The village has some fantastic restaurants - just remember to book! We will be back! :)

Loved this property - wonderful character, and well kept and maintained.

Great spot within the village. Street parking nearby was no problem.

Gaucin is a wonderful village - great bars and restaurants.

It was a good base for day trips, and also good to just stay and relax some days.

Beautiful Gaucin!

We've just come back from a two week break in Gaucin. Gaucin is surrounded by some of the most stunning scenery we've ever seen. It's breathtaking. We found the village very quaint with it winding little streets and in some places the roads seemed to be not much wider than a large footpath! Our hire car did sustain some slight damage because of this. Our overall impression is that the (Spanish) locals weren't particularly friendly. Obviously there was the odd one or two but the feeling we had is that there was an underlying feeling of resentment towards us (holiday makers/outsiders) being there. We smiled and said 'Hola' when we passed them in the street and some did reply, but the majority just ignored us. Now, the reason the locals may harbour some disdain could be because of the expat community. There seems to be a lot of building work going on all over the village. Not new builds but houses that look as if they are being totally gutted and refurbished. Now we did manage to gather that most of these houses, if not all, have been bought mainly by brits who are moving there to live. So, maybe this could be a thorn in the flesh to the locals. The expat community was interesting. They also seemed to treat holiday makers with disdain! We did meet two couples that were friendly but most wafted past without a smile or even an acknowledgment, as if they owned the place, and we felt there was defiantly a them and us attitude from most ex pats, which is laughable, as they must have been holiday makers themselves once! Maybe because of the time of year some restaurants were already closed. The house is large so plenty of room and Ian had catered for all our needs, cool box, beach chairs, beach games etc, if we'd fancy a trip to the coast, (which we did). Absolutely nothing was missing & Maria (house keeper) was very helpful. The bed was so comfortable and we had the doors open onto the balcony every night to let the cool breeze in. The biggest disappointment was the pool. It was just so cold. I tried a couple of times but is was like sitting in a cold bath. Not pleasant at all. My husband refused to get in. Dipped his feet in and that was all. Would be visit Gaucin again? For a holiday, probably not. Not so much the house, but more for the other reasons above. We did some trips to the coast and found the locals there much friendlier. If in the area we may pass through but to be honest Ronda would be a preferred choice and the scenery is just as stunnng

Gaucin is situated in the unspoilt Serrania de Ronda. It is an enchanting 'pueblo blanco' where the traditional Spanish way of life is still very strong. Narrow pretty streets to explore, spectacular views, good restaurants and bars. The village has its own pool and tennis court. Walk in the countryside, where mules are the preferred transport, see a profusion of wild flowers in Spring and the unforgettable sight of eagles soaring over the castle. Close to huge spectacular cork forest with picnic areas, swim in rock pools, dine beside tumbling streams in renowned restaurants. Try the tapas at Paco Pepe's bar only a couple of streets away. Climb up to the castle and pick figs in the ruins. Visit Ronda and see the spectacular architecture and gorge. Discover art on every corner in the nearby village of GenalGuacil. Local street markets to explore, take a boat trip to Ceuta or Tangiers in north Africa, or just to see the dolphins. Take a scenic drive to visit Sevilla, Jerez or Cadiz. Or, as many do, just slow down, relax and don't even leave the village.
