The villa Casa Colina dos Sonhos enjoys a peaceful countryside location just a few minutes drive from some of the finest beaches in the Algarve. Enjoy fabulous views across open countryside to the Monchique mountains from the infinity swimming pool (solar heated 10m x 5m+), covered veranda and open BBQ/ eating area. From the gardens you can take a leisurely stroll into the countryside beyond or across to two restaurants nearby and a typical Portuguese cafe/bar. Finished to a high standard throughout, the villa has at its heart a spacious living room with a galleried landing above. There are 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms (2 en-suite). The large master suite has a triple aspect bedroom with full slide back doors so you have a view of the mountain from the Super King size bed and is completed by a bathroom with corner jacuzzi bath and a dressing area. Situated in the quiet area of Serra-e-Mar, the villa is just 5mins drive from the world famous Le Meridien Penina golf course and 10mins from Alvor.
For the Children: As well as the pool, the villa has a giant trampoline. Nearby there is plenty to do with so many sandy beaches and rocky coves within 10 to 15 minutes, two slide parks and Zoomarine 15 minutes and 20 minutes away, tennis at Penina, horse riding just 15 minutes, wind surfing and sailing at Alvor beach just 10 minutes drive.
Nearby: The Monchique mountain with its host of traditional Portuguese restaurants is just 30 minutes drive. The ancient sea port of Lagos 15 minutes, Cape St. Vincent, the most westerly point in Southern Europe, 45 minutes drive, The ancient, one time Moorish capital of the Algarve, Silves, 20 minutes drive - all have local traditional markets on different days of the week and, of course, Portimão the largest sea port on the southern coast with its new marina only 10 minutes drive.
It's a perfect place to spend your holiday with children; spacious home and garden, full of privacy; walks around the area, paths along the fig and olive trees, nice and offered good food restaurants (also by walking distance); car is essential, 5 min to Portimao, 15 min to Lagos; very friendly and helpful owners; Jackie once again thanks for the great holiday (unfortunately only 1 week was available at that time) and thanks for the help afterwards;
just spent two weeks here, lovely home, shaun has great knowledge of area and willing to share!! We were made very welcome and appreciated shauns helpfulness. Everything you need in villa as described in details. Dealt with professionally by Jackie and Shaun.
Just back from a two week stay in this wonderful villa. It is absolutely massive with beautiful grounds and pool. Views over countryside towards the Monchique mountains. Owners on site but not intrusive and ready to offer advice/help if required. Bit of noise from the dog kennels/pound?? across the valley during the evenings. Did most of our food shopping in Lidls or Contente about 10 mins away towards Portimao, found meat for the BBQ very cheap at Lidls and also wine was very cheap. Had some good days out at the beach; Alvor, Meia Praia (quieter towards Palmares golf end) and fabulous cove at Cabanas Velhas (just past Burgau) with great restaurant on the beach. Lagos is a beautiful town with marina and lovely cobbled streets to wander around. Had a road trip one day up into the mountains then across to Alzejur and down the west coast to Cape Vicente and back along the south coast, well worth the trip. Had meals out several times at beach restaurants and a great evening meal at Fonte de Pedro in Alcalar, would definitely recommend. Restaurant Amedeus in Alcalar is only recently opened after a refurbishment and we found the service slow and the food not as good as the Fonte de Pedro. All in all a great location for a holiday. Recommend Zit Auto for car hire, small local firm but great service.
The villa was great, really spacious and private as it isn't overlooked. The huge amount of space is great for groups of people as you can all have privacy if you wish. It is set in a great location close to Alvor (lovely little town), Portimao and Lagos. There is a very good restaurant close by and Vittoria was excellent with the youngest member of our party!
I can't fault with anything about the villa, location or owners and would highly recommend it to any large family or group of friends travelling together
This is simply a wonderful villa. Our family has been to villas across Europe and our expectations are high. This villa did not disappoint us. It is more spacious than the photographs can reveal. It is light and airy. It has unexpectedly attractive countryside views. It is on high ground which makes the sunsets particularly beautiful. We could not fault the facilities or the cleanliness of the villa. The owner is on-site and is at hand if the need arises; otherwise, he leaves you to the privacy of your holiday. We cannot recommend it enough.
This was our second stay at the villa. A mixed party of 9 aged between 3 and 73, we stayed for 11 days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Shaun was always on hand with help and advice if needed, though not intrusive.
The villa and surroundings are wonderful, even though the weather could have been better, we managed to use the pool and enjoy the lovely gardens.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We were two different families and there is plenty of room for guests to have their privacy if needed.
There are some good walks from the villa, but you do need a car for shopping and visiting the lovely beaches nearby.
There are also good restaurants within walking distance.
We will certainly be going again and would whole heatedly recommend a stay.
Pat and Arnie Day.
Ideally situated for a relaxing break yet in easy reach of golf, beaches, restaurants and towns. There are 3 restaurants, a café and a bar less than 5mins drive away and you can walk to most of them across countryside. The villa is just 5mins from world famous Penina golf course. The magnificent beaches at Alvor and Praia da Rocha are just 10mins and 12mins drive. Here you can find a host of bars and restaurants as well as nightclubs and a casino.
Portimão, with its restaurants, shops and traditional fish and vegetable markets is just 15mins drive and the Algarve Motor Park's new International F1 Race Track, is only 5mins drive.
The historic walled town of Lagos is 20mins drive, from there you can take boat trips to the grottos or dolphin watching. Take a leisurely drive up into the Monchique mountains for a change of atmosphere with its wooded hillsides and thermal spa. Within 30mins there are 3 other excellent golf courses and the Zoomarine and Aqualand leisure park
Golf: A golfers dream location just 5 minutes from the world famous Penina course which features 3 golf courses designed by Sir Henry Cotton, including an 18-hole Championship Golf Course on its 360-acre estate. 3 other courses are within 10 minutes drive: The Palmares Golf Course, which stretches out over sand dunes; the course at Alto Golf, with the longest Par 5 in Europe and Quinta do Morgado with its mountain views, large greens and deep aggressive bunkers. Within 30 minutes you can be playing on many of the Algarve's internationally respected courses including Salgados and San Lourenco.
