Beach Access & Location
Sandy Beach is a quick stroll down the walkway opposite your driveway, across the grassed reserve & onto the beach. Sandy beach is a long & flat beach, is very safe for swimming, tree-lined for shade & offers lots of privacy & solitude. More often than not, you will find that you are the only ones on the beach. The headland offers two walking tracks with stunning 360 degree views. Great fishing & snorkelling can be experienced off the headland or off the northern end of the beach.
If you are feeling energetic you may like to walk along two southern beaches to Emerald Beach to enjoy a leisurely lunch at the award-winning Saltwater restaurant. The best surfing waves are on the southern beach which is a 10 minute walk & the northern beach is dog-friendly with Hearnes Lake at the northern end and Woolgoolga is the next headland in sight.
Sandy Beach shop is a 5 minute walk on the beachfront & stocks all the basics & take-aways. Woolgoolga Town Centre is 10 minute drive north and provides lots of shopping, markets, supermarkets, restaurants, clubs & pubs. The Seaview Tavern & Bowling Club offer a courtesy bus should the need arise. Coffs Harbour is a 20 minutes drive south offering all your shopping & entertainment experience requirements.
Discovering the Local Area & Hinterland.
All the local beaches are surrounded by the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Various zones are marked on billboards at the beach boatramps/walkways to advise what & where the restrictions may apply in regard to snorkelling, spearfishing, general fishing & dog friendly beaches.
There are beautiful forests & national parks in the hinterlands & small village towns to visit should the need arise for a discovery drive if the weather turns blustery. Or you may like to take a tourist drive to Grafton (60 klms north) which offers historical buildings & houses, jacaranda tree-lined streets, great shopping/restaurants or a river cruise on the Clarence River.
Bellingen & Dorrigo townships are approx 60 klms drive south/south-west, also offering great picturesque valleys, rivers, rainforest walks, gorgeous country vistas, forests & fertile pastures. Both villages offer interesting shopping, cafes, arts & crafts, markets & live music.
The National Parks are accessible and have great facilities for day-trippers to get out and enjoy the best of the great outdoors, and spot some beautiful native wildlife.
