Clear starry nights and the delight of stoking and warming, chatting and sharing around the crackle of your own camp fire. Truly a remarkable experience.

Astoria Park Cottage takes you back in time - a time when life was simple, the pace nice and slow and where an unusual peace pervades as the crowds of city life are left behind.

Your accommodation is truly original Australian - early settler style in traditional corrugated iron, welcoming open kitchen/lounge with large wood fire. (Cooler months).

A bubbling creek gurgles it's way past your cottage as it pours itself into two beautiful water features on it's way to Mt William Creek.

Trout and redfin stocked in Lake Fyans only fifteen/twenty minutes drive -

Excellent swimming facilities on the sandy shores or boating and canoeing are offered by all three lakes in the area - Bellfield, Lake Londsdale and Fyans.

Try something different - Four wheel drive only, mountain bikes or trail bikes- Take the relatively unknown RedMan Rd track (three minutes from your front gate) through the RedMan Bluff to Halls Gap/Dunkeld Rd -left to Mt William Turntable -right to Lake Bellfield and Halls Gap. Many tracks lead off this road to magnificent isolated rock outcrops.

Redbrow finches pick among the grasses, male blue fairy wrens show off their magnificence, kookaburras wake the bush as the red neck wallabies move in for a feed. Kangaroos, and emus abound.

Fresh and inviting at the Pomonal General Store only ten minutes drive where Nadia will welcome you with good old Aussie hospitality as you browse through a traditional fully operational General Store with local produce.

Barney's Bistro in Pomonal offers exceptional value, pub style meals in a shearing shed. Bookings in busy times essential.

Peaceful Beautiful views stunning.

Thanks kindly Jim and Deb, three of us enjoyed our stay for three days it was very relaxing and peaceful over New Years Eve. Your shearers shed conversion has been done well, very comfortable and clean considering its age. Just perfect distance from Halls Gap, Grampians walks and rock climbing. Jim and Deb have extensive knowledge of the surroundings and happy to accommodate your needs. Be sure to check out the view from your veranda, its stunning. I recommend to get up before sun rise to see Red Mans Bluff and Mt. William in their glory. Jim and Deb are very down to earth and easy to talk to if you need to ask any questions, if we are in the area we would love to stay again. Beautiful part of Victoria highly recommend staying at Astoria Park Cottage.

country hospitality

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a place with views, away from the crowds and value for money. Astoria park ticked all the boxes. Jim went out of his way to make us feel welcome and he has excellent local knowledge on the surrounds. Accomodation was clean with all the creature comforts including a warming wood heater. The views and the sunrises were spectacular

My partner and I stayed at Astoria Park for a week and absolutely adored it. The location and views are breathtaking, so if you're looking for a real Australian country experience, this is it. Deb and Jim were wonderful, they are very generous welcoming people with a great knowledge of the local area. Definitely looking forward to returning one day!
