Sean Hazelden purchased this House in 2013
Why Sean Hazelden chose Esperance
Urchin Beach Cottage was one of the original cottages of Esperance, has had some interesting history of ownership in the Goldfields and to Esperance residents. We bought and renovated the cottage enough to start short term holiday rental.
What makes this House unique
Urchin Cottage is a lovely Cottage, it has that homely relaxed beach house feel. It has lovely old Jarrah floors and has had renovations to make it more comfortable over the years. We love that we can offer this accommodation to guests and they can have their dogs come to stay with them, with a dog beach within 2 minutes walk of the cottage.

Great place for our pups. Brief walk to after hours dog beach.
Lovely place. Easy to find. Dogs loved the yard. Thanks for a great place to stay on our trip. Esperance has great and variable dog beaches.
Thanks for your positive review. Glad you had a nice stay in Esperance. Feel free to call me if you would like to stay again some time.
Perfect little home, close to town, with the dog beach close by.
Great backyard for the fur babies.
Urchin Cottage is beautifully appointed and close enough for great beach walks.
We enjoyed a great beak at Urchin Cottage which is beautifully appointed and close to all facilities. A short walk to the beach. The grassed back yard was great for out dog who had a wonderful time, as did her human Mum & Dad. Thank you Sean
The property was clean and tidy with every amenity we required. Good location close to beach which our dog really enjoyed.
Comfortable, well equipped accommodation
A very comfortable welcoming property very near the township.
Relaxing house with perfect yard for my dog.
Had a lovely stay! The house was perfect with a well equipped kitchen, relaxing outdoor area and secure yard. Will stay again!
Urchin Beach Cottage is located just outside of the CBD about 1.5 km around the Esperance Bay. From the house it is a short 300m walk to the beach if you fancy a quick swim, take the dog for a walk or just sit and watch the dolphins that regularly visit the area. There is a supermarket, fuel station, hair dresser and chemist shop approximately 250m away. The Travellers Inn is just 400m away with bar, restaurant and bottle shop.
If you're looking for a morning coffee, the bean break coffee van is about a 600m walk around the bay so you can enjoy the bay vista on the way.
While you are in Esperance, we would definitely recommend a day trip out to Cape Le Grand National Park. Take your lunch and enjoy a picnic at Hellfire Bay while you listen to the birds and enjoy the spectacular ocean views. If you are feeling energetic, there are some great walks and Frenchman's Peak is a beautiful climb rewarded by spectacular views.
There are some spectacularly beautiful beaches in the park, so don't forget your swimming gear. A word of warning, be very careful of the black algae if you're walking around the rocks. Its very slippery when wet!
Stone Henge is on the way and definitely worth a look. It is a work of art in its own right, regardless of being a replica of the original ancient structure. The local granite it is made from has its own unique character and is quite beautiful.
Definitely take a drive west of town around Twilight Beach Rd. The beach scenery is spectacular and if you get it on a sunny day with a northerly wind, the intense colour of the ocean will blow your mind.
Safe swimming beaches are Behind the reef at West Beach (Not between the reefs as there is a very strong rip), Blue Haven Beach and Twilight Beach when the swell is under 1.5m.
There are lots of surfing and fishing options close to town. Ring Sean for tips on where to go.
There are also lots of day trips you can do if you're keen to do some 4WD'ing. Again, Sean will be happy to give you some ideas and advice on beach conditions and tide limitations.
There are lots of other things to do around town itself. One hidden gem is the walk around Dempster Head from the Town Lookout - short, but gorgeous views of the Bay of Isles.
An early morning walk anywhere along the coastal walk/cycle way from Dempster Head to Twilight Beach is a great way to start the day.
Around town you can check out the shops, take in a movie, visit the local museum or enjoy lunch or a coffee and treat at one of the local cafes.
