Tucked into the hillside 250 feet above the sea, a 5 minute walk to the beach, this private 2 bedroom villa with pool offers stunning views and a fabulous retreat away from it all. The villa offers never ending gorgeous views over the Narrows toward the South Penninsula and mountains on St Kitt's together with fabulous indoor and outdoor living space including a private pool, fully screened porch with dining table and second large living area.
We have had wonderful year after year return guests (some as long as 12 years) stay at the Villa over the past years, so there have been years when the Villa was completely booked and we have not had it posted on VRBO. As life situations change for people, this winter we have some weeks available so we have again been able to post on VRBO/Homeaway. As a result of this being considered a "new listing" again, VRBO does not provide the opportunity to transfer reviews from past years. And since our returning guests book directly with us, they do not have an opportunity to post a review. We look forward to posting reviews later this year after welcoming some newly booked guests.
The villa is located in one of the most exclusive areas on the island on Ridge Road. The location is within 500 yards of Oualie Beach, and, 1 KM or less of 3 other beaches,. In addition the Villa is located close to some of the best restaurants on the island including Four Season's Hotel, Nisbet Plantation, Coconut Grove, the beautifully renovated and expanded The Gin Trap is just around the corner, and Oualie Beach Hotel with all the water sport and cycling amenities is available at the bottom of the road.
Perched on the hill and surrounded by tropical gardens, the location of the villa affords both the wonderful trade winds and offers fabulous views from almost anywhere in the house: when sitting on the screened in porch; on the pool deck; from the bedrooms; and, from the inside living area.
The villa is built in a traditional caribbean style with extra large window openings that are fully screened to provide wonderful ventilation and cooling breezes through out the house. In addition, the villa has large ceiling fans through out and 2 additional fans with lights in the outside screened in porch area if needed. We usually have wonderful gentle trade winds in addition to all the vegetation around the villa that keeps things cool. The villa is decorated with a mix of antique and contempary furniture and the works a variety of local artists.
The great room was completely renovated in 2015 with quartz tile floors, new kitchen cabinetry, and Silestone counter tops. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with high-end appliances including Bosch dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, 4 burner gas stove, refrigerator with automatic ice maker, blender, coffee maker, mixer, salad spinner, ice cream maker, baking trays and a number of other kitchen cooking utensils. There is also a separate filtered water spigot on the main kitchen sink that also supplies the water to the ice-cube maker in the freezer – that is capable of filtering out Cholera and Giardia (Beaver Fever). We have never had any problems with the island water (the house has the government treated water) but if anyone has a sensitive stomach when traveling, the filtered water is a wonderful convenience. In addition, we have a gas BBQ grill outside as well as a hammock. There is also a washer & dryer in the lower level if you want to use them during your stay.
The bedrooms are on either side of the great room and are essentially the same. The master bedroom has a king size bed, and the guest bedroom has 2 twin beds that can be easily put together and set up as a king size bed. Both bedrooms have a 3-piece ensuite bathroom (that was updated in 2016) and a walk in closet. The villa also comes fully equipped with quality linens and towels including beach towels to enjoy during your stay. Cable TV, wifi internet and guest cell phone are also provided. Weekly housekeeping is provided for stays longer than 1 week.
In terms of the beaches, all the beaches are public on Nevis, and lots of people not staying in the hotel use the Oualie Beach Hotel beach area and as long as the hotel is not really busy and if you order something to drink or eat they would be very happy that you are there. We also have some little beach chairs that you can use to take to the beach while you are here too. In addition, Chri-Shi Beach Restaurant is just 1 mile from the cottage heading toward town and has a fabulous beach area, offers wonderful yoga and boot camp classes in the morning and fabulous lunches 7 days a week, as well as recently offering movie nights once a week and dinner on the weekends.
There are a number of beach bar restaurants on Pinney's Beach (next to the Four Season's Hotel) that are less than 4 miles away toward town including Lime, Double Deuce, Turtle Time, and Sunshine's which all offer something a little different.
In planning your travel to Nevis, there are flights direct into Nevis, but if you are arriving to Nevis from St Kitt’s there are a number of ferries available to get you over to Nevis. In addition, there are private water taxis we can help you arrange to take from the South Penninsula of St Kitt's that bring you directly to the dock at Oualie Beach where we will meet you and bring you up the hill to the villa. When we are not on island, we have an absolutely wonderful property manager (Sonia Cornelius), who is a great resource on Nevis. She will meet you when you arrive in Nevis and bring you up to the villa and give you a quick orientation of things. It is a 10 minute taxi ride from St. Kitt’s airport to the main ferry docks in Basseterre, then about a 40 minute ferry ride to Nevis (depending on the ferry you get on). Or the private water taxi is a 25 minute taxi ride to the South Penninsula on St Kitt's and a 5 minute water taxi ride over to Nevis.
We are always available to our guests during their stay - we are just a phone call away.
