Hi This Mark the owner of Villas Coba.
Villas Coba consist of the two floor above Casita Coba. Villa Coba offers the renter 3 rental options. 1) Villa Coba the 3ed floor, a 2 bedroom 2 bath unit. The Vrbo pricing reflects this unit. 2) Villa Coba Penthouse the 4th floor Penthouse with private roof top sun deck. The pricing for the Penthouse unit is 2x that of Villa Coba. Lastly the Villa Coba Casa is the combination of both units. The units can be connected by an internal staircases and is perfect if you need 4 bedrooms. The pricing of Villa Casa is a total of 3x the price on this Vrbo site.
This traditional romantic Mexican Villa is just a quiet 75m stroll to the most pristine beach in Playa. Enjoy the revelry of downtown a five minute walk away but come back to this delightful, secluded and peaceful sanctuary. We love to take off our shoes and walk home along the sand after a night out in downtown.
And don't worry about a car, you won't need one.
This is old Playa, full of charm, the most sought after neighborhood in this extraordinary beach town. The quiet tree shaded street ends at the Villas Arqueologicas where Villa Coba is located. Next door are actual Mayan ruins, across from them just the whisper of the ocean on fine white sand. Gorgeous dark wood french doors open onto deep, breezy porches.
You're a 5 minute walk from the cosmopolitan buzz of fifth avenue yet all you hear are the birds in the Banyan trees.
Wrap a towel round you, forget your shoes and you're in the water in less than a moment.
Hi This Mark the owner of Villa Coba. Villa Coba consist of the two floor above Casita Coba. I have owned Villa Coba since 2000 and my family has enjoyed living here in the winters for these past 15 years. We have only recently started to rent because my kids are older and we are less able to be here.
Mark Tierney purchased this condo in 2000
It's close to the ocean and 5th avenue and yet secluded, tranquil and safe.
We were so pleased to have discovered this lovely respite from our gray, rainy days on the West Coast of Canada. The accommodations were welcoming, spacious and meticulously kept with all the amenities of home. The beach was stellar, just a convenient walk through the gardens, while the pool and balcony overlooking were quiet retreats where we were able to enjoy our breakfasts and lunches. The short walk to the restaurants and shopping in Playa del Carmen was an added bonus. Gracias!
As others have noted, Casita Coba is absolutely lovely. The condo itself is wonderful, and the location is ideal. Claudia, the property manager, is extremely helpful and easy-going. Perhaps the only drawback is availability -- you'll need to book well in advance!
I always appreciate when people mention specific restaurants, etc. in reviews, so here are a few that we really enjoyed: Cafe Antoinette is a tiny little coffee-and-pastry shop on the north side of the little road that leads to the ferry -- 3Sur?. The almond croissant is well worth the calories. :-) La Famiglia (10th Ave., north of 10th St.)is a fantastic italian restaurant, with amazing pasta and pizza. La Cueva del Chango (38th St., east of 5th Ave.) has great food, a really wonderful staff, and a very cool setting -- we went for dinner, and sat outside in the back among the plants and "streams". Reservations recommended.
We pre-arranged transportation through USA Transfers, and they were terrific -- they even sell eco-friendly sunscreen, which we needed for our snorkeling trip (The Snorkel Shop -- great!). We also did the Coba Mayan ruin adventure with AllTourNative Tours, and that was probably the highlight of our trip.
Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. Casita Coba is definitely our first choice for our return trip!
My boyfriend and I recently stayed at Casita Coba in early Dec for about a week and half. The place was absolutely everything we were looking for. Casita Coba was literally a short walk from the beach so we could easily come back and forth during the day or at dusk to watch the stars. There were also Mayan Ruins right next door so it was super awesome to play tennis at the courts and turn to get a ball and see the ruins. It was also a quick walk to 5th avenue which we frequented many evenings to get a yummy street taco or to place a bet on our favorite sports team (Go Broncos!) at the Tequila Barrel bar. We really enjoyed the beautiful patio deck by spending many hours there playing cards or grilling out (grocery stores are a quick 5 min cab ride away). We did venture out a few evenings to try the local cuisine and oddly enough had the best pasta ever at Cafe Sofia - so much so that we ended up buying some fresh pasta to-go and made that for dinners later in the week. The property manager Claudia was very professional and responsive - helping to arrange car pick-up to/from the Cancun airport and even arranging a special ride for us to Coba (a less crowded and closer option if you would like to see Mayan Ruins but don't want to do the day trip to Chichen Itza). One of the key things I appreciated about the place was also how quiet and secured the neighborhood was. Oh, can't forget about all the alley cats - we loved being greeted by all the gatos as we would come and go. We literally kept saying the whole trip how happy we were to have found Casita Coba and how perfect it was. Thanks to Gail, Claudia, Hortencia and Norma for making our trip one to remember. We are already talking about when we can visit again!
My sister, my cousin and I recently spent a week at Casita Coba and were not disappointed, the place is everything we wanted it to be. It is nestled in an old world community complete with exotic trees, interesting (and entertaining) wildlife and Mayan ruins next door. I'm so glad we didn't do the all inclusive resort thing, this place is so much more than that, it's like stepping into old Mexico with all of the modern conveniences in the condo. We were just a short walk through the ruins to the beach. But, the walk is short only when you don't get distracted by the fact that you are in actual ruins in beautiful surroundings! There is a lot to explore there.
We were disappointed in the beach because of the seaweed but it was just our luck to go when the seaweed decided to invade the Caribbean. The huge pool in the backyard and a snorkeling trip to Cozumel helped to appease our need for sparkling blue water.
We were also impressed with Claudia, the property manager, she always there when we needed her. She answered all of our questions, helped us understand some of the local customs and arranged for a private excursion for us to Tulum, Yalkun and then to the most fabulous and memorable seafood lunch on a beach.
I would recommend Casita Coba to anyone visiting Playa del Carmen. It was beautiful, safe, just steps away from shopping, restaurants and the beach and the location is stunning.
We spent 10 days at Casita Coba and it was perfect for our little family. Everything was clean and organized, we were able to get a playpen for our baby, airport transfers were arranged for us, and the condo had everything one could need to live more than comfortably on vacation. The terrace is big and great, overlooking the nice pool that is rarely used by others. And the location couldn't have been better. A nice quiet area, but only minutes away from all the shopping, restaurants and beaches!
We hope we can return sometime sooner than later!
We just returned from a months stay at Casita Coba and it was fabulous. We were looking for someplace we could call home and this was the place. Casita Coba is located in a very quiet neighborhood with cobblestone streets, large trees, flowering bushes and lots of birds. Then you take a short walk and you can be on 5th avenue where you can shop, eat, get coffee or just enjoy all the activity. You also can walk out the back gate and in afew minutes be at a beach with beautiful sand and water. The pool is cleaned everyday so it is always sparkling. We met several couples at the pool and ended up enjoying their company for dinner many evenings. The residents are all very friendly, the women in the unit below recommended Cafe Antoniette where we had dessert many times. The condo has two large balconies, you will find yourself staying outside on them all the time. There is a large table outside that we always ate our breakfast and lunch on. The inside of Casita Coba is furnished to make you feel very much at home. I also wanted to say Claudia, the condo manager, was so helpful she arranged transportation from the airport, got us a porta crib and was always available to answer questions. Fatima , cleaned three times a week and did a great job. She was so quiet we hardly new she was there. We thank them both for making our stay worry free. A special thank you to Gail Walter for sharing her home with us. If your looking for a lovely place in Playa del Carmen, Casita Coba is the place to rent.
Casita Coba two minutes away from the ocean you can wrap your towel around you and walk there barefoot.
