I love all water sports.....Hanalei has it all. I spend my time between two beautiful bays..Hanalei Bay and San Francisco Bay. Life is good, what could be better than experiencing the Hanalei lifestyle where the people are friendly, the fresh ahi is great and the beaches are long and beautiful. Come experience for yourself.

The Cottage at Hanalei Bay is ideally located to everything. Nestled in the best small clusters of beach homes.
The Cottage at Hanalei Bay isn't just another rental it has been my home since 1983 and I am happy to share my charming Cottage with you.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED
Our 2 families totaling 6 adults were extremely comfortable in this beautiful cottage. Upon entering you are greeted by a spacious interior with large windows, a wood floor, original art, unusual antiques, and inviting seating areas. It is very welcoming and charming. Day by day we found that the rental has everything you need for a beach vacation.
The kitchen was a joy to use and we found all the equipment needed to cook and serve meals for 6 with attractive dinnerware. When we headed for the beach, there were chairs, towels and ice chests. Linens are top quality with plenty of extras if needed.
The configuration of the cottage lends itself well for 2 families to have comfort and privacy. On the main floor, there are two bedrooms and 1 ½ baths. Then up a short stairway is a large bedroom suite, sitting area, king bed and bath, with another queen bed and sitting area in the loft above. The loft bedroom shares the bath below but in a family setting it was not a problem. Each area has its own washer-dryer.
Originally we had wanted a house right on the beach but this house is so close that it seemed as if we were. It is a short walk (just 3 houses away) to the beautiful sandy beach on Hanalei Bay and its majestic setting with the Na Pali pinnacles as a backdrop. The bay has lifeguard stations and is one of the best swimming beaches in Hawaii. You can also walk to the charming town where there are lots of interesting shops as well as a variety of good restaurants and bakeries.
This house has been lovingly decorated, is extremely clean and meticulously maintained. It is also a quiet location where one can enjoy the serenity of a Hawaiian vacation.
It was such a pleasure staying at The Cottage. We were a party of eight and there was plenty of room and all the facilities you could ask for. The beds were so comfortable that I looked at the brand so I could buy myself one in the future! The lounge area was perfect – very welcoming, with enough space for everyone to lounge around. The washing machine and dryers (2 of each!) and the kitchen had everything you could ask for – giant fridge/freezer,
dishwasher and nice kitchenware.
The outdoor area was lovely – complete with an outdoor shower which is a great way to wash off after a swim at the beach. The location couldn’t be better, just a street away from the beach and a five minute walk to the centre of town. The town itself is adorable, with great food and coffee and relaxed holiday ambiance. The whole island is a paradise and it really added to the trip having such a beautiful home base.
We couldn't have asked for more - best holiday ever!
My family recently flew to Kauai for a wedding. We stayed at The Cottage for 8 nights. Sarah's home is beautiful and impeccably clean. We could not have chosen a better place to stay. The house had everything we could possibly need for our beach vacation. Sarah has plenty of beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkels and fins to go around to everyone staying at the house. The outside yard is very peaceful and relaxing. Beach access is literally around the corner from the house. We walked to the beach and into town everyday - with exception of going to further away destinations there was little need for a car during our visit. Everything that you could need is within easy walking distance.
The furnishings and the beds were all extremely comfortable. After spending a full day at the beach or wandering the island, it always felt like we were coming home instead of a rental or hotel room. All the little touches of decor reflect the beauty of the island. Everything within the house is updated and in perfect working condition. The pictures and description of The Cottage are exactly how the house is, including the upstairs section of the home which can be rented together or separately with it's own outside access and laundry area. While trying to determine which home to rent, Sarah was extremely helpful. She was very responsive to any and all questions that we had. You can definitely feel the pride and love she has for her home and the island.
Make sure to try the Pat's Taqueria truck at the Hanalei pier and rent paddle boards and/or kayaks at the little place Watersports Adventures by the pier also.(go down the little dirt road and you will find it) You will not be disappointed. We saw many sea turtles in the river while paddle boarding. Another must do is eat at "The Dolphin". The dinner we had there was wonderful and one of the best we had the entire trip. For a wonderful Sunday brunch, visit Common Ground up in Princeville, but make sure to have a reservation. The food is amazing and all "farm to table."
A short visit up the island to Ke'e beach is a must do also! You can wander the caves and trails along the way to Ke'e beach and the Kalalau trail. You can snorkel easily at Ke'e beach. The reef is beautiful, and you can even see fish while just wading in the surf. Of course, the views are unbelievable!
There is so much to do on this island and we can't wait to come back and explore more. We will definitely rent from Sarah again!
I've stayed at the Cottage twice this year, and I can't say enough positive things about both experiences. The home is comfortable, nicely decorated, and perfect for both smaller groups (we stayed with four people downstairs) and larger groups (rented the whole house and had seven people stay here). The house is equipped with everything you need, and it really felt like being "at home" while away from home. In terms of location, you can't beat it: the easy-access to the beach and the quiet nature of the street are two big selling points. Finally, Sarah is super responsive and easy to deal with, and I look forward to renting this home again soon!
We were a small group of late 30/early 40-something women, escaping to Hanalei for doing-nothing-but-relax time with friends. Sarah's place was perfect for us. Clean, spacious, comfortable, tastefully decorated and well supplied with beach chairs and towels, all the cooking implements you'd need (I made a cake by hand easily in her kitchen), and a 3 minute (1 1/2 tiny blocks) walk to the beach(!!!). Just gorgeous. Wish we were still there.
Sarah was easy to work with, communicating by phone and text, very responsive.
Really, it was just great!
Well maintained and private. Blocks from Hanalei Bay beach and town, well appointed kitchen, plenty of beach chairs, towels and appreciated the little extras: coolers, boogie board, frisbee, football, snorkels, umbrellas, etc...
Proved to be an ideal 'base camp' for our family / extended family Kauai adventure!
We had a wonderful time in the cottage. The location is about as perfect as you can get-only a 2 minute walk to the beach yet far enough to still enjoy peace and quiet in the evenings. Sarah was very responsive when we had questions and was able to help us quickly. The house is in great condition and it's very comfortable for a large family or group of friends staying together. All beach necessities were there which was great! chairs, etc... Also, the washer and dryer was a great advantage with necessities there already! We also took advantage of the bar-b-que pit at night and enjoyed evening cook-outs. Really you can't go wrong with this place and the convenience of walking to the beach or into town which would be about a 5 minute walk. Thanks Sarah!
Located just 3 houses away from Hanalei Bay Beach Pavilion, which is the entrance to Hanalei Bay. Just a short stroll of 2.5 town blocks you are at the center of Hanalei Village. You can rent bikes and cruise the town and beach roads.
