Mullaway On The Beach

Bedrooms 1
Space 430 sq. ft.
Property type cabin

About the property

Unique beachside cabin set in tropical grounds

Twenty minutes from Coffs Harbour and a thousand miles from care lies the quiet beachside township of Mullaway - one of the best kept secrets on the NSW coast.

Conveniently located approximately half way between Brisbane and Sydney and just 1.5 kilometres from the highway and situated a stone's throw from the beach sits your quaint, renovated historic 1950's cabin. There are no roads to cross to get to the beach, just a well maintained small reserve. Mullaway is a step back in time to a less frenetic, more relaxed era. It's the way the world should be. Bring the whole family as the accommodation and beach are pet friendly.

The Coffs coast is littered with great beaches and several of the best are right at your door. Just through the sand dune at your backdoor is Cabins beach - only known to the locals - often you might be the only souls on the beach. Take a bottle of champagne down at night and watch the moon come up in privacy. From the cabin, at the end of the secluded reserve, take the boardwalk through the palms and rainforest, past picturesque coastal views to the surf at uncrowded Mullaway beach. Arrawarra is a well known long board break and the beach is great for a family swim. Mullawarra lies between the two and it is also a great place for a surf or a laze on the beach. Dolphins are frequently seen playing in the waves and from the headlands from early May till late November whales can be seen migrating along the coast.

Wildlife also abounds on the land. Kangaroos are regular visitors and black cockatoos, galahs, lorikeets, rosellas, kookaburras, tawny frog mouths, possums, goannas, bush turkeys, echidnas, frogs and geckos also may be seen.

Clean off on the way back from the beach under the outdoor shower, picnic under the frangipani tree, luxuriate in the tranquility, relax in the garden daybed pavilion and have a nap or read a book in the shade or play with the kids in the yard or reserve. Don't forget to look at the star filled sky - best viewed from the beach at night with only the distant lights of Woolgoolga to be seen, then fall asleep in your peaceful beachside cabin, shutters open, bathed in fresh air with the sound of the surf gently lulling you to sleep.

Only a stone's throw to the surf

Cabin's beach is metres away - direct beach access - no roads to cross. Mullaway beach is only a few minutes walk along the boardwalk. The coastal track has great views and in season you may view whales migrating up or down the coast.

There are many other great beaches nearby such as Mullawarra, Arrawarra, Emerald, Sapphire, Corindi, Red Rock, Sandy, Diggers and more.

Take your pets on holiday with you at this pet friendly accommodation with spacious yard and reserve behind.

Note: The two room cabin has one double bed and two bunk beds in the bedroom and a make-up bed in the lounge area. The accommodation is ideally suited to one to four people but can sleep five.

There is an outdoor beach shower and the separate bathroom (about 10 metres between cabin and bathroom) has toilet facilities, two sinks and two showers. There is a large laundry with washing machine and ironing facilities. The property is private and not fenced but is dog friendly and has a dog run suitable for two dogs. There is a hanging double daybed in the tropical gardens.

Price is all inclusive for up to four people - no extras.

Cute retro experience close to a great beach.

It’s a really cute but basic cottage but I wasn’t aware that the bathroom was quite separate from the house which was a bit inconvenient, especially as there was no hot water on the night I stayed. Peter was really helpful and apologetic about the water so hopefully it won’t affect others in future. I left a bag behind and they went out of their way to return to me. If you’re ok with bathroom and toilet being a walk away I would recommend. Fantastic area.

Owner's Response: Glad you liked the cabin and area. We clearly say in our listing that the bathroom is 10 metres from the cabin. Re the hot water, there was hot water in fact. We have two showers and the second shower was working. On inspection, one had a piece of rubber washer that had somehow come adrift and was blocking the shower head filter. I also tell people to contact me if they need any help but Lyn didn't contact me. When I texted Lyn in the morning, she had already left the cabin. The hot water is gas heated so is plentiful and both showers are working.

Location excellent, outside excellent, access to the beach excellent. Accommodation old but very tidy, everything your needed for a comfortable stay. Improvements that could make the stay even better, hot water in the house (only one cold water tap available) installation of a fly wire screen on the only entry/exit door. Only complaint I did have, the laundry sink had a bucket full of water with pillow slips soaking, the washing machine was fully loaded with items, partially dried sheets, towels, and pillow slips were hanging from the clothes line strung from wall to wall within the laundry. this rendered the laundry unusable. It really wouldn't have mattered as we only had a small amount of clothes washing to do but the attitude of the owner was a little difficult to understand. It was quite acceptable in his opinion as other rental properties don't have a laundry available, but the point being I didn't rent another property I rented his and you really can't advertise a laundry if it isn't available.

Owner's Response: Glad you liked the location and cabin. Re the laundry - sometimes weather, frequency of guests staying (single night stay only) mean that it is difficult to get linen dried and put away in time for the next guest so instead of leaving them on the clothesline we hang them in the laundry. If the cleaner left something soaking in a bucket in one of the 2 laundry sinks it was because she was trying to get a stain out from a previous guest. It is a laundry after all. Sorry a few sheets drying sheets seem to have impacted your stay so much. Peter

Mount Colah, New South Wales, Australia

Quaint, quiet, and convenient.

Stopped over for one a night stay with the grandkids and dog on our way up North.

Good decision, only a short stroll to beach and track from park land open space that backs onto the 'shack' and I use that term with no intention to demean. The wetlands board walk takes you up to the headland for spectacular views. Cabin was comfortable and served us well. Coffs Harbour is about a half hour drive South (30Km). Restaurants and shops at Woolgoolga are only a few minutes away and we recommend 'Bluebottles' for brekky there on Beach Street (pet friendly).

Wish we could have stayed over for a few more days. Loved it, as did our dog.

Thanks for having us.

Cute and adorable cabin. Relaxing garden with many black cockatoos. Relaxing falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. The beach and local shop are short strolls and locals were friendly.
