This place is beautiful! We truly felt comfortable at this cabin! The views are amazing to wake up to. Super close to the caverns and park entrance. Only thing I could wish for was a little more communication with owner before and during trip with better explanations of expectations and what not. We will 100% be booking here again!
Very nice house. Hot tub is amazing. Cabin could you more furniture an decorating.
Great cabin! Immaculate!
We had an amazing time at the cabin. It was perfect, and the view is great. I would suggest bringing an air mattress, as it expects two people to sleep on the couch (it’s very comfy and big, but there’s plenty of room to bring an air mattress). We absolutely loved it, and are already discussing our next trip!
Nice cabin, great views with lots of privacy
Nice single floor cabin (basement is unfinished, but looks like it is on its way to being so) with a modern kitchen, beautiful fireplace, screened in back porch, and a deck with wonderful views and a great hot tub. Two bedrooms with two full baths; cabin really sleeps four unless you want to put two people on the large living room wrap around sofa, although I wouldn't suggest it. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms, living room, and kitchen with dimmer switches. They have Dish TV and a nice flat screen over the fireplace; a nice perk is they do have a high quality blue tooth speaker in the living room to play your tunes. One big drawback is that you have to haul out your own trash and the closest public trash station is 10 miles away in Rileyville, and btw, they are closed on Sundays. The cabin is at the top of a steep driveway and has lots of privacy and is very quiet. If you are going to spend significant time there, suggest you bring some board games or you'll be watching a lot of TV; the property is very small and heavily wooded and there isn't anything within walking distance. Arrowhead Lake is roughly 2 miles away and has a nice circular trail that we went on in the mornings as well as a nice swimming beach and other basic amenities. The town of Luray is about 6 miles away; there are wineries, a brewery, and distillery all relatively close. Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive are within 20 mins and there are canoeing and rafting trips offered along the Shenandoah River - again, all close by. Would recommend this as a weekend getaway for everyone.
Nice cabin, miserable stay...
First off, I tried to work out a refund with the owner prior to writing a review because I don't like writing negative reviews. However, he had an "answer" to every problem we detailed, none of which offered us any satisfaction. His answer was either to refute what we said or ask "why didn't you call?". My question is why don't you know about the issues in your place prior to renting it out? Not to mention we'd have been on the phone a lot as we discovered issues over the course of our stay...
The cabin itself is very nice and looks like the pictures. However, there were many minor issues including dead batteries in the TV remote, a bbq brush with no bristles, a dishwasher that beeped endlessly and was a hassle to actually get running, a pain in the rear kitchen faucet "handle", no hanging pole in the main bedroom closet and no hangers anywhere in the place, no soap at any sink (we filled empty bottles found under sinks), having to haul out and dispose garbage, mediocre towels, "extra" (?) linen & pillows found stuffed into dresser drawers (linen unfolded so unknown if clean or dirty).
All the above we would have dealt with but the bug bites and driveway not being safe for a heavy motorcycle were big bummers (we had to trailer the bike to another location each time we rode). My wife and I got dozens of bites during our stay and the owner said he had Orkin come out after we left and they found nothing so it couldn't have happened in his place. All we know is that this is where we stayed and once we moved out of the bedroom, no more bites. We tossed some personal items and had to clean or launder everything we brought back and have some clothes professionally cleaned to make sure we weren't bringing something back. I'd asked prior to our booking another one of his cabins about the driveway and was moved to this cabin and assured it was fine for a Harley. After our stay the answer was other bikers have had no problem. As a lifetime motorcycle owner, I can tell you if you have a touring bike it's not a great fit due to the dirt & rock surface at top of the property, the gravel road at the bottom of a STEEP drive and loose rock on the bottom & top of the asphalt driveway!
Like he did in our email exchanges and with another review that mentioned a problem with mice, I have no doubt the owner will respond saying we should have called and by refuting our claims. Nice cabin overall, but small touches and service are lacking so beware...
If you are going to leave a review please tell the whole story. Here it is. The guest first asked about the Summers Dream cabin which is below this Lake Arrowhead cabin after seeing a 5 star review left about great motorcycle weekend in Luray. He asked was this a good spot for motorcycles and I said yes that others have been up there and had left great reviews. He then said that he would have a bike trailer with him. I suggested that he rent this cabin, Lake Arrowhead Cabin, which is up the hill from Summers Dream. I have had trailers up there and it has room to turn around and a flat level spot to drop trailer if he wanted. So he rented it. His dates were July 26th checking out Aug 1st. 6 nights in total. His dates came and went. I did not hear anything about any issues until after his stay ,late on Aug 2nd saying he had a few minor issues at the cabin, batteries for one remote, BBQ brush, no hangers, dishwaher beeping, bug bites, and having to park trailer to ride bike. So he wanted a full refund of the 6 nights. I emailed him back asking why he did not get in touch with me the whole 6 nights he was here, I could have solved any issue. There were extra batteries in sofa table, 6hangers in second closet, dishwasher you had to close the door. I could have took up BBQ brush. We tell guests to bring bath bag with toiletries to include shampoo soaps shower sponge etc. this was in his confirmation. The driveway is paved. The parking area at cabin is level but is graveled. We have had other trailers bikes up there with no issues. He claimed he and wife got bug bites at cabin. I said are you sure. Did you go hiking motorcycling he said yes but still wanted a refund. I said before I do that I will call a pest guy and have him come out to do inspection. Orkin was the quickest to come out. They are 40 miles from us. They were out 24hours. They did a full inspection. He inspected the bedrooms, bathrooms, great room, kitchen, the walls, floors, ceilings, around light fixtures rocks on fireplace etc. he gave us a100% clear report of no dead or live bugs anywhere. I emailed this report to the guest. The guest said I don't care what Orkin said I guess you are not refunding. I said no the cabin is 100% clear. How can you stay 6 nights make a false claim and still want a refund. So he would leave a bad review. To future guests we have this report on file and will be glad to email it to you. We have nothing to hide. We are open to pre inspections we have a book full of reviews
Great place with everything you need!
Went here for a weekend getaway with 5 others and was not dissapointed! Spacious, clean, EXCELLENT HOTTUB w/ gorgeous view, fire pit out front. The owner messaged back in a timely manner. Indoor and outpoor patio came in handy when grilling out. Great attractions near by! We did the Stoney man hike which is a 30 min drive away, as well as the caverns and lake which are also very close! Highly recommend!!!
