St Marks Church provides unique, self-contained accommodation in a heritage sandstone building.
Providing 3 bedrooms with lounge/kitchen & an upstairs loft with a library and study area.
The space is a perfect blend of old and new, with the original stained-glass windows and architecture of the church perfectly complemented by modern amenities and comfortable furnishings.

The location is perfect for a stay in Adelaide - many shops and cafes, are within walking distance. We are set in the leafy suburb of Maylands which is adjacent to Norwood - one of Adelaide’s most popular dining and shopping districts.

Major events and the city centre are less than 10’ away by bus or car. It’s perfect for access to sporting events, music concerts, theatre and all the major festivals.

The generous living space (150 sq) is totally private. You have your own separate wing with separate driveway and entrance. It also includes a private outdoor space for your exclusive use.

Answer: Building work on St Marks Anglican Church commenced in 1902. In 1992 the building was converted to a large home. 1n 1995 we purchased the home for our family and in 2010 we converted it to a building suitable for short stay accommodation and have been improving it every year since. Most of the accommodation fees are re-invested in the building and garden. We aim to preserve the heritage of the building while providing contemporary facilities for quests.

A very special place in Adelaide
Karin’s place is a very special stay full of character and history. The tapestry and wall pictures tell of the richness of the early church. One can feel the warmth and pride Karin takes to make her place welcoming to her guests. Each room is differently decorated with a lot of details that show her thoughtfulness to make your stay comfortable. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our week here.

Great property, lovely area & every convenience
The property is amazing, a well thought out church building conversion. Very comfortable, had everything we needed (and more) for a 5-day stay. Fully set up kitchen which allowed us to self-cater. Comfortable couches and bed. Bath, separate shower, washing machine and dryer. Lovely decorative touches throughout. Karin is a excellent host - nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend both property and host.

St Marks has 2 wings with guests having total privacy in the west wing of St. Marks.
You are not sharing but in your own private wing with a separate driveway & undercover parking behind locked private gates.
The church is calm, peaceful, private, beautiful, and a very special place. I have traveled a great deal and in the process stayed in a variety of places from the most humble to the most extraordinary including a 6-star world winner in South Africa. We have learned a great deal about what makes a great stay, and it is certainly more than the price that you pay. We try our best to live by these ideals when hosting guests at St Mark's. I have worked in everything from bridal gown designer (founding owner of Bethrothed Bridal), to dressing TV presenters and Humphrey B Bear. My partner works as a university lecturer in film and TV but has in the past been a TV producer, producing some of Australia's iconic programs such as Here's Humphrey, as well as working in the UK and NZ. We are friendly, tolerant, and accustomed to mingling with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Everyone is welcome at St Mark's Church.
