We are happy to have this 1BR apartment available in our 2 family brownstone to offer to NYC visitors here for a short stay. Enjoy the comfort of a home away from home with a fully furnished apartment with up-to-date, clutter-free, stylish furnishings. The apartment sleeps up to 4 adults on a Queen size bed with luxury Serta Beautyrest pillow-top mattress in the bedroom and queen size sleeper sofa in the living room with 5” memory foam mattress. See Amenities section for more information on what is provided in the apartment.
Maps, guidebooks and a list of our favorite NYC spots are available in the apartment but feel free to ask us for any personalized recommendations.
Why is renting our apartment different from most other short-term rentals in NYC?
1. Peace of mind - we can legally rent our apartment as a short-term vacation rental because our house is a 2-family private dwelling. Apartments in buildings that contain 3 or more apartments cannot be legally rented on a short-term basis (30 days or less) in NYC.
2. We live on the property. While the apartment is a separate unit with a private entrance, we live upstairs. If you have any questions, concerns or issues, we can address it right away and most of the time, in person.
3. We provide all of our guests with an information packet with valuable neighborhood and NYC information and can assist with any requests they may have.
4. We love to travel and know what is important to our guests. We professionally clean our apartment between guests and make sure everything possible is provided for our guests comfort.
We hope you will enjoy our city and apartment!
Dining and Shopping : We are located in a prime area of central Harlem on West 127 St. between 5th & Lenox Avenues just 2 short blocks from the 125 St. retail/business district. The newest restaurant options are Babbaluci, a delicious brick oven pizza restaurant and Yuzu, a traditional sushi restaurant where it's all about the delicious, fresh fish! We are both project managers in the financial industry and moved to Harlem over 8 years ago most recently from the Upper East Side. One of us was born and raised in NYC and the other has lived in NYC for the last 20 years and we couldn't imagine living any place else! We love traveling, reading, gardening, running, skiing, tennis, good food & wine and enjoying all NYC has to offer!
Michael & Sandy purchased this apartment in 2008
We have lived here for over 8 years and this is the first neighborhood in NYC that feels like a true community to us. We are happy that the area has changed for the better and pleased that our guest have had positive experiences in their visits!
Quiet, immaculate apartment on a beautiful block of brownstones in a friendly, convenient and newly trendy neighborhood is yours to enjoy like a New Yorker. We love NYC and love to travel as “locals” ourselves which allows us to anticipate the needs of our guests to make their stay as memorable and comfortable as possible. Hablo español!
Michael and Sandy were wonderful hosts--very helpful and respectful of our needs and privacy. They gave us great suggestions on the many nice markets and restaurants in the area . The subway and bus lines north and south are all very convenient and easy to use. Great location to explore Harlem and the entire city. We highly recommend this property to anyone hoping to fall in love with NYC as we did. You will not find better hosts than Sandy and Michael.
My mother and I stayed in this delightful apartment last September '16 for 3 nights. We loved everything about our stay. The apartment is exactly as depicted on the pics...spacious, very clean, and with all the essentials. The bed was comfortable and the shower had very good pressure and lots of hot water. We are both light sleepers and enjoyed 3 nights of uninterrupted sleep.
The location is great. We flew into LaGuardia and took the M60 bus for $2.75 from the airport which got us to within a block of the apartment. We also used it on our return. The bus took about 40mins (ymmv) and was an extremely convenient way of getting there. We also took a bus all the way to Lexington and 23rd. Not the most efficient use of time but we like to take long city bus rides. We were within a block of the 2/3 express train which we used a lot. Other express buses and trains are nearby.
There are lots of good restaurants, cafes etc near the apartment. We loved getting fresh pastries in the morning from Lenox Saphire. The almond croissants are to die for. We ordered delicious pizza from Babbalucci thanks to Michael's recommendation. We also enjoyed an excellent lunch at Red Rooster. We walked down to 116th st and ate lovely, authentic Senegalese food but unfortunately I can't remember its name.
The owner was extremely easy to communicate with. His instructions were clear and were delivered on time. Our deposit was also delivered on time. I would definitely rent from him again and would recommend him without reservations. Don't hesitate!
If you want to get in the New York groove, this Harlem neighborhood has you covered. And what better place to stay than Michael and Sandy's? Their brownstone apartment is a great place to live in while visiting NYC. You're literally steps away from vibrant restaurants like Red Rooster, bars where the locals meet like Corner Social, retail stores like Marshall's, CVS, Starbucks, the legendary Apollo theater, and the subway station if you're looking for easy access to lower Manhattan. As great as all that is, Michael and Sandy's hospitality tops it all. They were more than helpful in making our family NYC trip special. Thanks again to you both for the tips and recommendations!
We just stayed at Michael and Sandy's wonderful apartment for 3 nights to enjoy some Christmas spirit in the city. We found it online, read the previous reviews, and couldn't wait to see it for ourselves. Needless to say we were not at all disappointed! It's in a great, safe and happening part of Harlem and yet the apartment itself is just around the corner from Lenox so it's quiet and peaceful and so, so comfortable. Sandy met us when we arrived and couldn't have been kinder. She was welcoming and completely informative with anything we might need for our stay. The wine and fruit were a wonderful touch! The apartment is large, fully equipped and clean and comfortable as can be. And the subway is only two blocks away to take you anywhere in Manhattan in just minutes. We couldn't be happier that we stayed here and we look forward to returning for a longer stay in the future! Thank you, Michael and Sandy for helping to make our season even more special!

We just had a wonderful trip! The apartment was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. So close to the train and buses. Lots of great restaurants and coffee shops close by as well as CVS, a grocery, a deli, and H & M. Also near the Studio Museum in Harlem (which we really enjoyed). The place had everything you would need - hair dryer, iron & ironing board, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, nice towels and sheets, comfy bed, snacks, spices, tea, and coffee. We slept great - not noisy at all. The hosts were very kind and allowed us to drop our bags early, which was a huge help. They gave great directions for getting around and had a very informative notebook with all kinds of information. Would definitely recommend and hope to come back soon!
We've not stayed in Harlem before and loved it. The apartment is super clean, spacious, quiet, and well appointed. The fresh fruit and wine were wonderful.
The location is convenient to Columbia, the Cathedral of St John the Divine, and the Cloisters, and the subway is just around the corner. We will stay again.
