Our cozy, comfortable studio is nestled in the corner on the second story of our two building apartment complex in the Hollywood Hills. El Cerrito means "little hill" and it is the perfect segway from Hollywood Blvd into the Hills. We are close enough for you to walk and enjoy the the activity on the Blvd but far enough from it to settle into a peaceful evening.
As husband/wife owners/managers on site, we are here to welcome and assist you.The building has 26 units. We have family in three units and the rest are rented to a wonderful mix of thoughtful, considerate professionals, making it a great community in the heart of Hollywood. Private stairs lead up to studio and to our unit. Laundry facilities are on site. There is covered/gated parking for one car . Two outdoor garden seating areas in the lush greenery of our front patio and two cafe tables and chairs along the walkways. Lemons galore when our tree is in bloom.
Ambiance: Because we live in the building, as do our two daughters and spouses, it is our home and we want all of our tenants and guests to feel like it is their home also. We strive for a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Neighbors: We are adjacent to residential homes in Outpost Estates where many stars live. Tour buses stop next door to us (hoping for a star sighting of our neighbor) and in the area while pointing out celebrity homes and the neighborhood is full of interesting winding streets and homes in the hills of Hollywood.
We are walking distance to the heart of Hollywood and environs! Three blocks to Hollywood Blvd, the TLC Chinese theatre (formerly Grauman's), El Capitan, and the Dolby Theatre (formerly the Kodak and where the Oscars are held.) For summer visitors, the Hollywood Bowl is a 15 minute walk.
Start your day with a two block walk to Runyon Canyon where you can join the many daily hikers and their dogs climbing various routes up the Canyon to Mulholland Drive. If you are star savvy, you might spot some among the hikers and hidden behind sunglasses and baseball caps. What a wonderful mountain oasis right in the city! Return to the studio to prepare for further exploration, either in Hollywood or the many interesting places in LA via your rental car, walking feet, the Metro, Uber or Lyft.
After an overload of adventure, return to a quiet retreat in the hills for some R&R and then head back down to the Blvd.at night for restaurants, clubs, movies, strolling or go over to Sunset Blvd for more of the same.
Two blocks down from the apartment you'll find a CVS pharmacy (corner of Hollywood and Sycamore). Four blocks down and two blocks west, you'll find a Ralph's supermarket open 24 hours. On every corner you'll find a Starbucks. We prefer our coffee from Tiago, two blocks down on Hollywood at La Brea. We also like Pink Pepper for Thai, Roubo's Place for Armenian, Le Balcon for Russian cakes and Mashti Malone's for ice cream. All are on La Brea between Hollywood and Sunset. Oh, and good street tacos from the truck in the bakery/ice cream parking lot.
Our daughter owns and runs LA Urban Adventures. They give small, interesting tours in and around LA and if you book with us you will receive 10% off their tours.
People from the US as well as many international guests have stayed with us for a variety of reasons; to visit family members, see newborn grandkids, attend conferences, time out from relationships, see the allure of Hollywood and stars, attend TV tapings and studios and other. We hope to include you in those satisfied guests!
