About Phyllis Goff

Mark Goff, Owner, builder, contractor & owner of Goff Construction, built this cabin.

Phyllis Goff, owner, real estate broker, designed, decorated and manages this property.

We have been in the area almost 35 years, and are so thankful to live here and love sharing it with the many visitors we have had at Laurel Haven.

Phyllis Goff purchased this cabin in 2016

Why Phyllis Goff chose Brevard

The beauty. Nature surrounds and abounds. The peace. The proximity to so many activities. It is central to Dupont State Forest and Pisgah National Forests. Biltmore House is only 1 hour away.

What makes this cabin unique

We have tried to bring the outside inside. We have used many reclaimed objects, like the 100 year old wormy chestnut, the claw foot tub, antique sinks in both bathrooms. The laurel handrail and stone fireplace are great focal points in our cabin.

Amazing Craftsmanship and Comfort

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four was absolutely delighted by our stay at Chestnut Cove! We were very impressed and felt at home the minute we walked in the door and appreciated the loveliness of the area and the cabin. The owners, Phyllis and Mark, have taken great pains to make the place special---and it shows! The cleanliness, decor and unique touches are impressive and thoughtful.

We enjoyed hiking at Pisgah and DuPont State Forest and touring shops and eating at restaurants in the Brevard area, but our favorite thing to do was to hang out, drink coffee and relax and reconnect on the beautiful back deck. The ping pong table in the basement was fun entertainment for us and our teens--who were willing to set aside their technology for hours of fun and competition.

Our Fall break trip to Brevard was very special and the beautiful new cabin really created the perfect atmosphere for us in the mountains. We liked how the cabin is a few minutes out of town providing just the right amount of rest and relaxation, while still being very accessible to all the amenities in the area.

We highly recommend this cabin and cannot wait to return. Thank you, Phyllis and Mark, for making such a wonderful, welcoming retreat available.

  • 5 of 5

Warm, comfortable, soft surroundings. Relaxing and inviting space The way every vacation should be; one that helps to create a wonderful adventure. Best of all, in this very gracious cabin, inviting dogs to continue to be with us as if we were home, is perfect.

Beautiful welcoming cabin! The craftsmanship was amazing through out! Clean and comfortable...enjoyed the ping pong table and foosball. Close enough to town yet secluded. We didn’t want to leave!

Beautiful, comfortable cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Such a nicely furnished, comfortable cabin nestled in the woods. The bed was one of the most comfortable ones of any place we have ever stayed. I was a little under the weather one of the days, and so grateful for the comfy leather couch and fireplace. We made up for it the next day with waterfall hikes at Dupont, shopping in Brevard and a relaxing morning in the cabin. I was amazed at all the decorating details. So nice. This would be a great place for a family with the ping pong table and room upstairs. Hope to come back.

After turning onto Chestnut Cove, go straight until the pavement ends, go up steep hill. Chestnut Haven is the first house on the left after gravel road begins.

Chestnut Haven is located just 7 miles outside Brevard, NC, a small "Maberry like" town. Good food downtown, antique & gift shops. We are central to all the forests, state and national -- Gorges, Dupont, and Pisgah are all just a 20 minute drive from the cabin. Great hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails.
